We’re finishing today our series about Spanish wines, we’ve talked about all of the best wine styles from Spain so far, you can catch up on the series right here, but there’s a delightful wine style I haven’t talked about yet, it’s the delicious Cava sparkling wine. Yes, Spain has had a long tradition of producing excellent bubblies. It’s not as famous or prestigious as Champagne from France, and it’s a shame really because Cavas are not only fascinating to explore, but truly delicious and very well crafted too. So, let’s have a look at Cava, how is it different to Champagne from a quality standpoint but also of course value, craftmanship, price, etc.

We recently had the Segura Viudas Brut Reserva Cava, $12.00 at our local wine store in the US. We could taste green apple up front with a clean finish. Definitely something I'd buy again.

Thank you for this!! I too have recently discovered Cavas (somewhat from the Spanish Netflix show Elite!). Been drinking a Gran Campo Viejo cava that’s a Brut Rose’ that is good and can get for like $8! I make my own sparkling wine and wouldn’t sell for less than $10. But am looking forward to a new one we got that is Segura Viudas Brut Reserva! That one should be even better!

Thank you for the beautiful video! I’m tasting Cava Vintage Brut nature Reserva made with Chardonnay, Macabeo, Xarello, Parellada. It’s wonderful, with some white flower and white fruit taste, as hawthorn and white peach pulp. You can also recognise a delicate aroma of yeast. The sparkling are persistent and fine. The taste is long lasting! Very very good wine.

I’m really enjoying your videos. Originally wanted to learn a little more about Spanish wines which I already enjoy here in Canada. I’ll be in Madrid in May for 2 days and was wondering if you can recommend a wine bar that gives tasting and maybe conversation on the Spanish wines ? Merci !
