The audience was amazing too. Very respectful. Good to see that again!
It's crazy because, I saw him in Santa Barbara Ca in the 70's and he never played the regular guitar. He was known for and played the best jazz Bass guitar of all time. I only knew him for being bassist😳
That was just Mesmerizing! 🎶🎸
Incredible fingers flying over those strings, unbelievable. Thanks for sharing. I'm old, 69yrs, but I have not heard his playing before. Kind regards from Rae in New Zealand ❤️ 🇳🇿
He is so beautiful and different as an artist. Reminds me of what Al Jarreau vocally does in “Take Five “. Some people are so talented they can’t translate easily to those used to typical Pop 🎶
As a guitar guy, I'm surprised I had never heard of this guy, did something happen to him or did he not get the break he deserved?
Anyway, being a Flamenco guy he gives me those vibes, as those his technique of picking.
The first player I saw using that hammer on technique was Lenny Breau, but he incorporated harmonic melodies as well. Jordan took the hammer on thing to the next level. I first saw Lenny Breau in a master class at the jazz course I was taking Check out Lenny Breau "The Claw"
Ahh, Elenor Rigby by, of course, The Beatles (it's in there)
On of my 16 favorite guitar gods. His cover of stairway to heaven is 🤯🤯🤯
Have you checked out Rodrigo y Gabriela? Either 'Tamacun', 'Hanuman' or 'Diablo Rojo' will blow your socks off.
Yep and actually had forgotten about him..thanks for this reaction!! Yes he was incredibly ahead of his time!
You should check out the Beatles version of the song Eleanor Rigby. This Stanley Jordan performance is a jazz touch/tap version of that Beatles song. If you check out the Beatles version it will clarify what Stanley is trying to do, better for you. I think. Kurt from Maine
Stanley Jordan was in no way a pioneer in tapping, But he made it the largest part of his style. I think the first Van Halen record was in 19 79 and he wasn't the first one doing tapping either. But it doesn't matter if you're the first one to do it... It's the level of mastery
Looks like playing style of Ravi Shankar playing a sitar.
It was all right, you should definitely check out Junior Brown, rock 'n' roll Melody and also surf Melody, he is one of the best unrated guitarist, he even invented his own guitar. If you watch one of his live videos and you see a woman playing guitar by him, it's his wife
Never mind/Whoops! that was Stanley Clarke I was thinking of🙄

I can't wait to introduce you to 14 yr old guitar phenom Taj Farrant. People have said he has to be reincarnated. He plays like someone took Gary Moore, SRV, Jimi and a little Prince and wrapped them into this guitar phenom! He's going to be one of the guitar greats.
