Victoria Wood Episode 1 - Mens Sana in Thingummy Doodah (Health Farm)
Vložit
- čas přidán 19. 12. 2011
- First broadcast on 16th November 1989. Victoria attends a health farm. Featuring Julie Walters, Lill Roughley, Liza Tarbuck, Meg Johnson, Anne Reid, Georgia Allen, Selina Cadell & Peter Martin.
- Komedie
IMHO, Anne Reid doesn't get nearly enough recognition for her work. She is an amazing actress. Her characters, in everything she does, are so incredibly well put together and thought out.
She is extraordinary and yet all a grateful nation has given her is an MBE. I can think of quite a few actress Dames of the Order of the British Empire who simply can't hold a candle to Ms Reid and don't even live and work in the UK. At 89 she deserves proper approbation, before it's too late.
'she almost scratched her Volvo'...superb. I've loved this woman's work forever, what a joy to find this channel.
I'm afraid since her passing much of this content has had various worldwide bans on copyright grounds. I'm glad they have left something for you to watch!
It's certainly a very different world nowadays so that doesn't surprise me. In fact it makes the old shows all the more enjoyable to watch, we are lucky viewers to have people like yourself. Thanks again.
Shout out to Julie Walters for her priceless Nicola.
She was a comedy genius. I love Julie Walters too 😂
Yes those two were a comedy genius
@@juliet7703They go together like Salt and Vinegar on chips! ❤❤😂😂
'Don't run the cold tap and the bidet simultaneous or you'll scorch your nancy' is just the funniest line ever, so wonderful.
I love Anne Reid and Meg Johnson in this. "Our mother is haunting the spare room blanket box". Just priceless lines, one after the other. I miss Victoria Wood so much. No-one ever made me laugh as much as VW.
There are 8 people who have seen this video who's pulses I think should be checked... how can you dislike Victoria Wood?
The dislike button has been removed now but. I totally agree with you. How can you dislike this awesome woman
@@audrey7009 I miss the dislike button, but agree who could not love victoria wood.
Sadly missed she was a legend
They all fell off a diving board in Guernsey
Brain scans needed too.
The Dana character played by Liza Tarbuck is clearly a prototype for Twinkle in dinner ladies
Before her there was Kelly-Marie Tunatall in As Seen on TV and the 2 girls in Victoria's song "Saturday night"
Having a big I still miss Victoria wood week. I'd forgotten the goddess Liza was also in this.
"Scratched her Volvo". Spat my drink
"I mean, if you read a book,Victoria, that's not going to make me more intelligent is it?"
"I wouldn't have thought so..."
Who said women can't be funny? Wood and Walters are hilarious!
Nobody said that, Keith Williams. Nobody from the modern world anyway 😮
@froglet72 You're not American, by any chance, are you?🤣😂
Look at Anne Reid! 😻👍🏼
So sorry VW is gone so soon. I love Liza Tarbuck in this. The casting is brilliant
The actress who plays the PE instructor is great too- “I haven’t blown my nose since 1973!”
Victoria you were taken far too early a one of a kind comedy genius 😂😂😂😂😂
Chernobyl looked nice in the brochure lol
Omg, thanks for sharing, love this episode so much ❤❤❤
You're welcome. Other episodes have been taken down but if you look at my other comments on here you should find some links to another place where I have posted the others
I remember the first time I watched this and I cried laughing. It was absolutely genius. Still as funny today as it was when I first watched it.
Thankyou for this upload. Its always a nice surprise to stumble upon something I haven't seen before and this really made my day immensely. Vic and Julie are the best comedy pair.
Love this! But I don;t know what's worse; scratching your Volvo or scorching yer nancy...🤣🤣
“Hereford missing a reservoir “
😂
Julie Walters, absolutely brilliant.
Julie Walters. What a genius !
Julie Walters scene from 2:45 is hilarious :) Such a fine actress!!
RIP Victoria Wood.. a talent lost too soon :(
It's a stand-out performance from Ms Walters. A parody, but what's wrong with that?
As I say...
Anne reid with a bloody bandana 😂😂🤦♀️
Victoria and julie Walter's were good in this it a shame victoria died so young sadly missed
She was 62, it's not that young. Sad for her family of course, but in career terms, she'd pretty much done what she was going to do.
Anyway.......... I’m Nicola 😅R.I.P Victoria you legend 😅
That will have to huffice as a termitude.
One liners galore, i really miss Vic 💖💖💖
Scratched her Volvo 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Thank you so much for uploading this. I'm a massive Victoria fan.
She was beautiful ❣
Excellent!
I don't want them lifted, I'm quite happy with them bobbling along where they are.
Wheeling in the TV! Reminds me of school.
Everybody wheezing at Julie's introduction
It was so brilliantly done it was torturous to watch, my toes were curling, pure genius. 😄
Brilliant 👍
Just realised that Judy is the pharmacist from Doc Martin
Mrs. Tishel
THANK YOU!! I've watched this three times trying to work out where I know her from!! 🤣😂
@@martinen.5025 you're welcome. The actresses brother, Simon cadell was in Hi de Hi
@@jamesshore2987 OH, MY GOD... SOOO funny... I'm terrible on actor's names, unless they are someone I adore...it took me three episodes of Beecham House to realise that John Beecham's mother was MRS PATMORE...and then I didn't realise it, it was a letter to the Radio Times, where someone said, "Oooh, doesn't Mrs. Patmore scrub up well?" 🤣😂🤣😂😂
@@jamesshore2987 I LOVED Hi De Hi !!
Anne Reid 😊
Wonderful
OMG! My mom and dad had that exact same pink ...duvet?....blanket? when I was growing up. I think I was ten before they gave it up for something more modern.
They were called candlewick bedspreads! My parents had one, too!
Is that Liza Tarbuck as the maid? She is quality in this! :D
Yes
Yes she’s a natural character actress- shame she hasn’t done more over the years, although I do like her as a presenter and DJ too.
7 people were called Nicola....as I say.
Ooh how can she say candlewick isn't nice lol I loved it
Petra was Peter Purves's doggie.🤔 Well there were two actually, they replaced the first one without letting the audiences know, they felt it would be too upsetting to the kids.
Love Victoria Wood.... not the "canned laughter"... spoilt it.
Just read the sad news r.i.p meg Johnson .
Scorch your Nancy. I wheezed laughed at that.
Hello HighHoe Kermit! Thanks for uploading, sadly episodes 3, 4 & 5 of this 1989 series are not viewable.
Hey Gaz, yeah they keep changing the copyright on various episodes. I did upload a couple on vimeo that were blocked on here. Any there were had links on the previous episode or on a pinned comment. But they do seem to change all the time. Another Victoria Wood video of mine has just been unblocked out of the blue after 7 years!

@@HighHoeKermit OK, thanks.
@@gazgaz5765 I've just uploaded episode 4 too, but only get 500mb upload per week, so we're stuck for a week now I'm afraid. vimeo.com/469510334
@@HighHoeKermit Ok, thanks.
It's the laugh track. Too loud covering up some of the dialogue. I want to watch them all, but don't know if I'll make it. Disappointing.
12:43. That'd be Liza Tarbuck then!
I wish we had all the other episodes of this series. Apart from the Val daree, TV chat show and the Airport episode I can't remember what the other episodes were? Was there one set in a Library? ❤❤
I'm afraid they got blocked on here Robert, but you may find a few I migrated elsewhere here... vimeo.com/382056423
Yes one was set in a library, there was also the one set at a posh cocktail party as well as the ones you mentioned
vimeo.com/942150811
Brilliant 😂😂😂😂
did she say her name was Nichola??..LMAO xx
Marvellous lol x 😂
Lol how many calories are there in a pillow case hahahahahahahahaha
....... I see that was Allerdyce 😊😜😜❤️
The "better version" mentioned above is sadly no longer available
Sorry about that, they seem to block these episodes at random I'm afraid, ever since Victoria's untimely passing. Before that they never bothered me so not sure if the copyright situation changed. I have had them randomly unblocked too, so fingers crossed 🤞
I hope this eases your disappointment - vimeo.com/942150811
10:00 Sally-Anne was obviously the Georgia Tofolo of the 80s.
998th like. I so wanted 999 or1000.
I'm afraid all other episodes have been blocked, but you can continue watching episode 2 here - vimeo.com/942150811
Petra was Peter Purvis's alsatian. Not John Noakes labrador.
I adore Dana. So much that I want to be her. 😆
Is that Lisa Tarbuck? 🤔
Yes!
@@HighHoeKermit Thank you. I'm watching on my iPhone and can't see her face too well. Many thanks. X
To people in 2023, this doesn't seem funny anymore but it is an interesting and poignant window into british culture in 1989.
Which people- have you seen how many views and likes there are for this? There is still a huge love for everything Victoria and her brilliant co-performers produced. In Britain at least.
Arent u a boring specimen...lighten up...
No it's still very funny
@@froglet72 Not to me. But it shows a lot about how people saw things in 1989,.
wrong, it's still funny!
The dubbed laugh track's unnecessary, not to mention more than a bit patronising. Not all of us need to be told when to laugh.
It was filmed before an audience. Canned laughter is very rare in British TV
Blame the BBC--they insisted Victoria add a laugh track--she hated it
@@pedanticradiator1491 Not true of the BBC. They call it 'sweetening' adding recorded laughs where jokes fail or when there's no response to a line whch the director thinks is funny.
The BBC Sound Effects Collection used to include a disc contatining nothing but audence responses / laughs / guffaws/ titters etc.
I adored Victoria Wood, but for some reason Julie Walters gets on my nerves, and not in the funny way the Script intended. Sorry .... I don't want to make anyone cross, just my peculiarity!
Who knows what sets us off with other people. I can't watch anything that has James Acaster in it.
Weirdo! 😮
canned laughter put me right off after 4 mins
There's no canned laughter - It's very rare in a British programme
This particular series was recorded without an audience. Then shown to one for the reaction. Victoria Wood apparently hated this process. British sitcoms hardly ever use canned laughter.
