  • I made these bows up for the businesses and residents of Long Melford in 2020 and 2021. Learn how to make them yourself by watching this video.
    Now it will soon be Christmas 2024: To make them yourself you can buy the red dress netting/tulle from my shop
    www.thewoolpat...
    I don't sell the embellishments, you can buy the ribbon or the silver diamonte ribbon very easily from ebay after a quick search.
    _______________________________________________________________
    You will need:
    10 metres of Red Dress Netting/Tulle in total.
    4 cable ties (this makes it easier and quicker)
    Ribbon/Organza for embellishments
    Directions:
    Cut the 10metres up into the following
    5 metres for the Uppy Downy (vertical piece)
    2.5 metres for the Lefty Righty (horizontal piece)
    2 metres for bigger bow
    0.5 of a metre for smaller bow
    I used some diamanté ribbon (4 in a row) to add to the middle for some sparkle
    Ribbon to hang from the bow at the end
    Happy Bow Making!

    Uppie / downie, lefty / righty - very specific technical terms indeed. One has no doubt what they are. I wish more instructions were so specific. This bow kit is a really good idea. I am going to try doing a similar bow here, but I have a mind for tartan.

    Thank you so much for sharing. I was going to order the bow this year, but decided to buy the material and make my own instead. I needed more so it was less expensive to buy the material and make them. I'm so thankful I found the video of the actual creator of the bow kit. Thank you for showing how to make it. You give great directions. You are an awesome instructor. 💜💜

      @TheWoolpatch  Před rokem

      Hey Julie! Lovely comment to read! Thank you for taking the time to comment and let me know! Thanks for subscribing too! As for your door bow, good luck with making it. Yes, you sure can use your door as normal. Just remember you may have to postition your lefty righty bit higher or lower to avoid you locks or those chub locks. It won’t tear, it’s tough betting fabric. It can take a lot of rubbing and brushing against the floor. It fits in the hinge okay so you can close the door. It doesn’t affect the letter box too much either, the postie can squeeze it round and it just falls down and gets caught in the red netting at the back! Have fun 👍🏼👍🏼

      @TheWoolpatch  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I did it in 2019, then all went south for 2020, so it's nice to have them back. (many will be reusing theres as net keeps easily in the garage) The village looked lovely with red bows on business doors and private folks house doors too. Melford is one long street, so driving through seeing bows on either side was quite charming with all the fair lights too.

    Hi I love the look of door bows but how will the postman post letters? Im Not the brightest of people any ideas of still being able to access it please

    • @TheWoolpatch
      @TheWoolpatch  Před 2 lety

      Very good point Becky - I forgot to talk about that on the video. There is a bit of slack on the uppy downy, so my postie, just bends it to one side and access the letterbox. Especially if you have the bow in the top third, it just means the postie only has to move the uppy downy. I suppose it may be harder if you have a low down letter box as the uppy downy will be wider. But most mail will go through easily. It fits an a3 firm envelope he may be knocking on your door. The post then falls through the letterbox and just gets caught in the uppy downy on the other side.....and you don't have to bend down on to far to pick it up!.......oh just another thing.....be aware of the locks. New modern doors, have quite a few chubb style lock things. position your lefty righty's so it's not near. :). Stuart

  • @aishaspaparazzijewelrybox3902

    Great video. Would love to order. I see metres in your website with two drop menus and 10 metres is needed to get this look.
    If getting 10 metres, I'm a bit confused as to should I put 10 in first drop menu or 1 in first and 0 in other? Thanks
    Also would you have this material available in white?

    • @TheWoolpatch
      @TheWoolpatch  Před rokem +2

      Hey Aisha! good question.....so use the first box only to choose your meterage. only use the right box if you need a little extra, for example 50cm, so you would go 10 in the first box and .5 in the second for 10.5 metres. If you just want the 10, then choose 10 in the first box!
      I only have red this year. I haven't got white, partly becuase, there are so many.....'white', 'silk white' 'ivory' so, stuck with Red. Just out of interest if I were to get white next year, would 'white' be best? I'm thinking the others may look a little 'dirty' if you get me. Stuart

      @@TheWoolpatch Thank you so much. Hopefully I would be able to order soon. I like the red as well but surprisedly I do like white or other with like embellishments on them..I'm sort of a blingy type😀
      And although the sound of white on a not so clean door, I wanted it but not plane out but I'm open & perhaps I could add to it. But a variety next year would be great but I'm so happy you have the red available as well. Happy Holidays to you & your family

    • @TheWoolpatch
      @TheWoolpatch  Před 2 lety

      haha very good question Siobhan, There is a lot of 'ease' on the uppy downy, so the postie can easily grab and pull the uppydowny with one hand, towards themselves and then with the other hand, pop all your cards through the letterbox! Stuart
