- Momotaro, the silverback gorilla in Kyoto City Zoo has turned 24 years old on July 3, 2024.
Momotaro was born in Ueno Zoo (Tokyo), and moved to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010. Momotaro and Genki met each other there and now they have 2 children, Gentaro and Kintaro.
Momotaro is a reliable silverback who watches over his family, is sometimes cute when rabbing onto his favorite tire. He even puts his feed on it.

京都市動物園の父ゴリラのモモタロウは2024年7月2日に24歳になりました。
上野動物園出身のモモタロウは上野動物園や千葉市動物公園で育ち、京都市動物園に来て現在はゲンキとの間にゲンタロウ、キンタロウのふたりの子どもがおり、父親として頑張っています。
モモタロウはシルバーバックの中でもかなり筋肉質な体つきをしていますが、繊細で綺麗好き、優しい性格の持ち主というギャップがあります。
雨の日にはできるだけ手を汚したくないからか二足歩行で走って移動します。
モモタロウはいつも家族たちを見守り、時には子どもたちと遊ぶこともあります。そんな立派な父親ですが、よくタイヤを掴んで座ったり、時には両足をタイヤの真ん中にのせるかわいいポーズを披露してくれることもあります。
本人はまじめな顔をしているのにかわいいというギャップが好きです。

Momotaro needs a new female to pass his genes on to. Genki did good she gave him two fabulous boys but i thnk she's ready to be a just a little old lady.
