This is a reverse puzzle game where you play as the puzzle designer and an AI solves the puzzles, your goal is to make it take as long as possible while still being solvable. Now we have a character that can 'savestate' by putting a mushroom on the ground that it can teleport back to.

AI is a breadth-first search, but on a graph of board states instead of a graph of tiles. I.e. imagine a graph where every possible board state is a node and two nodes are connected if there is a move for each character which produces the second node board state from the first one. BSF on this graph always produces an optimal solution.

0:48 you can force the save state for the sake of the puzzle. It like has to go through a gate then place safe state and then toggle and then it can go through the other gate.

I feel like these puzzles where made faster then its possible to solve with a human; and the creator just brute forces the levels and picks the cut off with historgrams

All the levels were designed and solved for three carrots by me by hand. No bruteforcing and no histograms. I'll take your comment as a compliment though.
