I use a pet dryer. £30! It has speed and temperature control. Best thing I could have found for drying the bike.
Gotta love these extremely engaging intros! Informative yet entertaining. Keep it up! 🔥
I'm blown away by this video! 😄 All jokes aside, even if it takes the same time or longer, this is probably the better way to go.
After every washing i take the bike for a short ride for 5-10 minutes. It's dry everything adn warm up the chain for better lubricant.
After chain lubricant i use a microfiber towel and detailer spray for the paint work and the bike shine without any water spot.
I have a Harley so the air cooled fins on the engine were a massive pain to dry. Also, Harley used this crinkle paint on parts of the engine that would act like velcro to a micro fiber towel. I started using my leaf blower to clean the engine, wheel spokes, and such and I still use a microfiber towel on all of the flat, painted surfaces after blasting most of the water off with the blower.
Love the vids mate. I have a Tracer 900GT, essentially a mt09 with a screen. I use the center stand all the time, however after washing I put it on the side stand and most of that water runs out of the radiator, just a little tip. I also use a blower about the same size as the one you got only battery powered, not sure if it's the same/lower/higher capacity but it does the job. Keep up the good work.
A heated pet dryer works a treat!
Thank you! About to store my bike soon.
I use my shop vac, I just hook up the hose onto the output and it easily becomes a blower. But after you pointed out that a dirty leafblower can become a sandblaster, I'm feeling stupid for not thinking that way on my shop vac (it holds dust and other contaminants, and might fling out of the blower side). The best technique I see is using both a towel and a blower. A clean towel for the large surfaces, and the blower for the crevices.
I've used compressed air for years with ear plugs because it can get very loud. Large mouth leaf blowers are the next level up since you would have a wider attack. Good video though, cheers!
Te conoci hace poco y estoy enamorado de tu contenido, Saludos desde Colombia!
I use the same blower as yours. Sometimes the exhaust of a shopvac.
I also use that blower to clean my computers and electronics.
I have a tip, you can attach the included dust filter to avoid sand or dust to be blown back to your motorcycle or item
Compress air all day long - great vid
I've heard those suck/blow vacuum cleaners in blow mode work very well too. added benefit is you also get a vacuum cleaner too... as well as them blowing warm air which always helps .
Still got to try that myself
You could ride it really fast to dry it fast 😂
I recently switched from towel to the blower as well. It does take longer to dry the bike but cleaner w/ no water marks. Notice that there are some areas which still requires the use of towel to remove some stubborn stains
Try and "pinch" the tip of the rubber hose to reduce the opening and thereby increase the air velocity.
As allways its a nice video ! Some sense of humor, clean and well balance subject and good mix of fun and usefulness !
A chamois is my tool of choice when it comes to drying bike or car. It works great though you need to be dead sure the stuff your drying is absolutely clean... as cleaning the chamois is a pain.
To use it you must first soake it with fresh watter and then use it a a "super" sponge : it suck any droplet, leaving a clean and dry surface. Give it a try....
Using a blower is a great idea though. I tried a low pressure paint gun (too weak) and my workshop vacuum cleaner (it has an outlet you can use it as a blower) : perfect! The hose makes the work even easier, plenty of power, filtered air😂 thanks for suggesting the idea.
I have been using a blower to dry the engine areas and crevice areas of my bikes and cars for years...I still use a microfiber to dry large surface paint areas on the vehicles, but the blower really takes care of the difficult & hard to reach spaces.
He's scrubbing the bike again 🤣🤣🤣
I washed 15 motorcycles yesterday for our bike company i always use air compressor for drying and using "Spray wax" with a microfibre towel for getting rid of the dryed water spots
Maybe have a nozzle 3D printed to increase dynamic pressure
I happened to get given a Ryobi battery leaf blower as a present one Christmas as it was the cheapest way to get a 4Ah battery (makes the blower about £10!) - tried it on the bike out of curiosity and never used the blower for anything else since (I additionally use a drying aid as part of a 'spray shine' which helps in the cold & damp of the UK).
I recently bought a Bigboi BlowR Mini and I love it! Just washed two of my bikes today and dried them off with it and it was just effortless.
I have used my Wet & Dry vacuum cleaner on blow for a few years on my Bike, But I like the Compact size of the one you used.
Great vid! Although you should take a look at replacing the chain on your bike because on video from 3:33 to 3:38 it seems like you have a few stuck linkages.
my 125's chain got loose and I noticed a link looked like that, the chain got adjusted but I keep hearing a noise, is that what is causing the noise?
@@r4rq291 if a linkage is stuck, the chain wont seat properly on the sprocket. If its not stuck at an extreme angle (ie the stuck linkage is slightly off from the angle of the other linkages), it might cause some clanking noise as the chain tries to settle on the sprockets.
Either way, if you notice that a chain linkage is stuck, its best practice to replace the chain ASAP, as stuck linkages often break under load, which can absolutely destroy your frame, engine casing and your leg as it slaps against them, or it can harm someone else behind you as the chain gets ejected and you are left without drive for the rear wheel.
@@szaszlo9958 Thanks. The noise was there since a few weeks, today I noticed it was quite loud. My dad told me we're gonna get the chain replaced asap however am unsure if I should take my bike to the local motorcycle club's rideout this weekend then, considering I can't take it to the shop today
I also often use this method and it really works!
that husky supermo looks sick can't wait for a vid on it
I actually have been using my compressor to blow the water off. Good size tank so it lasts for a bit. I gotta try blowing the water out of the radiator in that direction you showed.
Many years ago when I rode Harley Davison’s my wife bought me a Hog blaster dryer. Still got it and it’s brilliant. Rubber corrugated hose and blows out slightly warm air. Used it on every bike I’ve ever owned since getting it. Blows the water out of every crevice. I think there are like machines out there that the same job, I think it comes down to how much you want to spend really.
I do it for years and always begin drying by radiator of my biles , after silicone for protection (except brakes and tires of course)
I switched from run-drying to a Ryobi leaf blower a couple years ago, saves huge amounts of time. Also use a standing fan in the garage to go around the bike for a couple hours before oiling. A slightly bigger blower will give a significantly quicker drying time
I have always used the compressor and just like a month ago I bought a blower like you have. I have only used it once, but I like it.
Bro I was just thinking 🤔about this great timing 😂
2-speed compact blower with additional interchangeable tips using the most narrower for higher air pressure starting high to blow out majority of the water and the lower for finish dry, and finish off wiping the tank, and other plastic/fairing parts with your choice of wax/shine/detailer. My bike looks so much cleaner than it would drying by hand 👌🏻
Pet dryer. A third of the price of a 'motorcycle' dryer that's the same thing in a different box, plus for us in colder climates it keeps your hands warm too :)
I use a brand called Master Blaster, its a fancy leafblower but made for detail work on cars and motorcycle, it have the option to blast warm air so drying are quicker and also have a 4.0 hp engine and the air are filtered so you dont blow small rocks on your paint
I always used my echo backpack blower I use for my lawn business
Hey Chaos Causes,
can you please do a video, or tell me about how to get the best sound captured when riding your bike? You did one like 5 years ago with the Zoom h1 i think.
Thank your for all your videos with many tips and tricks!
Greetings from Germany.
I've heard (not tested) that dog dryers work well. That chain looks worn though
Have been using a small Makita battery operated one for the past few years, works a treat. Best R1000 i have spent. Also cleaning your garage with it is so much quicker than a broom
i just ride my bike after washing it.. especially in a sunny country like mine. all the water just evaporates or it fades with riding heading air
Large areas: towel
Small crevices= air compressor
I use a pet drier, it's similar to what you have. But I dry the major panels first with the towel.
I have a cheap electric fan in the garage, right next to where I park the bike. If it rains when I ride home, then I simply turn on the fan after I park the bike. This way it won't be wet all night long. Simple trick, costs almost no time, and I don't have to worry about rust after riding in the rain. Bike still looks new!
I use one, ideal!
i worked at a harley shop as a bike cleaner over the summer for a job while i waited to go back for my current year of college. we used a leaf blower to get the big droplets and all off first and finish off with a towel. we never used the leaf blower for anything other then the bike so we got an electric one.
This reminds me that I need to wash my bike. Except that a cold front moved in this week, and it went from 17-20 degrees down to -1 currently. Probably not the best time to spray water on it, lol.
i only have a small bike and i always tilt my bike after washing so that the water from the radiator flows out
G'day mate from Australia, l have always used a leaf blower too dry my motorbikes and being a dry hot climate let the air finish the drying then back in the garage, I try not too use a pressure washer as I have classic British bike and they just won't start if too wet, cheers mate, keep on two wheels.
2 horror stories;
Friend of mine bought a new BMW R1150R in 2002 (=now 20y old...) and he never ever cleaned it. Oh and he let the poor bike sit outside summer and winter. It looks the part... 👾
Me, I just go for a short ride to dry my bike. No rear chain drive, so that makes things easier. 😁
Hi mate,I use a Makita cordless. Another trick is make sure you wax your bike every 3months or so.The water just rolls off when you use the blowerkeep if it is waxed.I use Meguires ultemate liquid wax on my ZH2 and it work a treat with the blower.I thought a black bike would drive me crazy with my OCD but its a win for me with no scratches and smooth paint like you wont believe.
i find that the best way to remove water from your chain is go for quick drive with some speed for a minute or 2. It slings out all the water in the chain, and the rest that is stuck on top can be easily wiped dry.
I use compressor just fine. The problem of having too much pressure that can damage your o rings can be mitigated by simply move the nozzle away from it, you know. Also it's easier to handle and easily go for the nook and crannies of your bike.
Just buy a pet hair dryer. It's already comes with a filter so need to worry about damaging the paint
its so mind blowing!
I use a flamethrower.Costs a fortune in Bikes
I use a very cheap yet very powerful electric blower too. It is a must to avoid having water sitting in the bolts heads all around the bike. I used to do that with a camera lens hand pump before..LOL I think my neighbors preferred that method though.
For my road bike I use waterless car wash spray and a think microfibre towel, but in saying that I only ride on sealed roads so it never gets very dirty.
I dry all the paintwork with the towel, then go for a ride so the rest gets air dried. When I get back I oil the chain. But the idea of the leaf blower it fantastic. Wil even consider buying one :)
I have karcher vacuum cleaner with blower - I use blower to dry my bike. It's come with long hose that's why I did not need to left the vacuum cleaner as well. It's do some work like you are doing with Leaf Blower but it's more easy as I did not carry the machine.
It's safer to use the attachment for the intake of the blower so that it doesn't accidently suck in tiny, potentially abrasive particles.
I use cheap china blower same design like yours. Using blower is take time but worth it in the end because it mostly rid the excessive water from our bike.
. i use separate towel for body & engine/rims for light touchup
hey man, love your vids, this one left me a question, how about if we use instead a hair dryer, im not sure if he could damage the paint job bu left me thinking
I'm curious to know if a pet hair dryer would work better than this mini leaf blower...
Your videos make me touch my bike everytime
I use this and it’s been very good it’s a vacuum plus blower bit noisy but has a powerful blower
Titan
TITAN TTB775VAC 1400W 20LTR WET & DRY VACUUM 220-240V (233KH)
I typically just grab some
Cleaner and go to work on wiping the bike down. I’ve rarely used water on a bike.
I also do this I rarely wash my bike with water and it's always looking show room ready with little effort.
@@bulldogwoof6954 it’s therapeutic. I just got a ZH2, soooo many open nooks and crevices. But I still just wipe down.
Bro suggest upgrades for fz25
i have same blower and it works great ! save me a lot of time
I never wash my bike randomly, it's always after a ride.. the crap is still fresh so it'll come off easier and the heat still coming off the engine will aid drying.
I don't understand buying a small leaf blower though unless it really is like a jet of air. I'll give it a go in the future as and when i get the chance. In the meantime i will just use a heat gun on lower setting or you could use a hair dryer?
This has got me thinking so thanks and keep up the great videos.
I have the exact blower in our garage surprisingly 😂
Works GREAT.
I only use towel to dry paintwork and windshield then go for a 15 min freeway ride to dry other parts by wind and engine heat.
I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. czcams.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.
The filter argument is kind of dumb when you remember that your bike constantly eats that exact same "unfiltered air" at 80mph for the rest of its life.
The bike has so much wax on it that water won’t stick to it anymore 😂
It just rolls off
Being using a blower for months. It works. No water spots. Mines speed adjustable. And it’s yellow.
That overly restrictive plastic intake safety screen would be cut out before it was ever plugged in. Would probably double the airflow.
After using the blower a few months, do you think using blower is better than microfibre towel?
I use a chamois and wring it out. A bit tedious, it I don’t mind
Wipe seat crank bike and ride between air flow and heat of motor and wheels and chain spinning bike dries it self and fun. Hit spots that remain with a chamois
I've been doing this for years....
In the past I have used my Black and Decker Heat gun when I was washing my bike and had to quickly run off to help my sister when her car broke down.
Don't get me wrong this is dangerous as hell because if spend too long on a spot you can melt your bike but what I did was stand further back to throw hot air towards my bike and it did dry it off extremely fast.
I had to keep moving as to not heat one one area too much but hot air works reeeeeally well
Might be a bit of a off topic questions, but I would like to hear ur guys opinion on a second bike option.
I currently own a Kawasaki er6-n 2007 with about 80hp (35kw on paper), since my A2 license expires soon I get to ride a bigger bike.
What would u guys recommend for a second motorcycle, probably gonna go for a naked again somewhere in the realm of 100hp (around 4000 euros) any recommendations are welcome.
YOU HAVE A SUPERMOTO RACE BIKE YEEESS
Es el sistema que utilizo desde hace tiempo, es mejor que el compresor.
I dry off the saddle with an old microfiber rag, then I ride 75 MPH on the highway to dry the bike.
I use a 40V electric ryobi turbo blower.. Works super fast
I used vacuum that blows air. Shopvac
Is you have a good towel it can manage to dry entire car after a wash.
Used to use compressed air until I got a battery powered leaf blower 🍻
Use a high cfm leaf blower
Why don’t u try hair dryer with medium heat settings
I know this will upset some people (don't worry, I'll turn off notifications because i don't care if you respond with some "well ackshually...." crap), but to all the people worried about scratching your bikes with a leaf blower, you better not ride your bike outside or if you do only idle around, otherwise all the dust in the air might damage your bike too.
You should be more worried about exhaust fumes from cars damaging your paint, or hitting bugs at highway speed, or dirt being flicked up by cars and trucks.
I've always found the blower to be less effective on panels but more effective in smaller areas where water pools rather than just beads
I sit on my Bike in my Front Room with a big fan on, (I am a big Fan of BIG fans !), and go. "vroom !. Vroom !!. VROOM !!!"
Is this the same ?
Back to reality, you know how clever I am.
One can't get a Wet Bike Dry fast enough, (bearing in mind other Fluids like Fuel, etc's evaporation.
Water is a Biker's Natural Enemy.
So I employ a 3-Stage Flat Floor Fan Heater in my Bike Box which draws its air from one end, over my bike, and exits at the other end.
15 Minutes Cold Air, 15-30 Minutes Warm.
Job done.
Incidentally, my 'Bike Box' is a re-purposed, HIGHLY INSULATED, Fibreglass and Aluminium Freezer back box from a walk-in Ice Cream Truck with built in lighting and NO Condensation !!!
Big enough for TWO Bikes, they can be picked up in a Vehicle Scrapyards for £0 (yes, ZERO !) - £500.
There is no real metal value in them, and they are just expensive waste for them to dispose of.
BONUS, their Door Hinges, Locks and Security is AMAZING !
Keep Safe.
.
i use a hair dryer. hot air evaorates the water in a giffy.
been using a $30 leaf blower to dry everything for years.. cars.. bikes...
I use my wife's dog dryer. Works great.
Bra, I just got back from 3 weeks in SA (North West). With the exception of three days, it rained every single day. I would look into weatherproofing the bike instead. Also, potholes. Jeebuz H Jebbuzson. How on earth do more bikes not die in horrible accidents in SA?
