Agreed. It’s funny to think that Arnel has now been their lead singer longer than Steve Perry. Those days with Steve were pretty amazing though; the soundtrack of my youth. So many good memories associated with those songs.

With the possible exception of the 70’s, nothing touches the 80’s, as far as music is concerned. It was an absolutely incredible time to be alive, with incredible music, literature, and film.
The statement you posted here is proof that you know, and appreciate, music. There was the 70s then 80s, and a small portion of the 90s with Prince, then things were on the decline. There is an entire generation who know nothing about real music, real instruments, real musicians or stage presentation. Journey was great. Thank you. By the way, Where is Steve Perry?
Tons of great music from the 60s as well same with the 50s but 50s gets outdated & harder to relate to.

They opened with this song in Boise 2023. One of the better concerts I've seen with regards to musical quality.
I remember hearing this for the first time during VISION QUEST.
That movie turned me on to Journey, and the trip will never end. By the way. I am 76.
My youngest son, during High School, was a Wrestler. Pretty good one too! Vision Quest
was almost a DEMAND at the time. Enthusiasm, and Desire for a 16 year old just grew.
Thanks to Steve, and now Arnel. A masterful voice and sound.
All of these songs are 30 - 40 + years old, yet they sound as fresh & in some ways even more relatable today, than they were when released. The 80's were an amazing period to be young. Thank you to the Band, especially Arnel, for keeping Journey and the music, the soundtrack & fabric of our youth, alive. 🎶 ❤️

Saw them at 16 in 1982 with Steve Perry and they were great. Saw them 5 years ago with Arnel and they were awesome!! Seeing them in November at the O2 in London. For over 15 years Arnel has fronted the band and delivered night after night. Arnel was lucky to be found by Journey. More importantly Journey and all of us were lucky to find Arnel.
I'm 61 and this song doesn't fail to freshen me up. Love it!

Arnell is still sounding awesome. It sounds a tad lower note than Steve but still hard to tell the difference. Its great to hear Journey again, relived.
He had higher pitch when he first joined Journey I believe
They're not lowering the key. Arnel just has a wider and deeper natural timber. If you listen close, Steve is still the GOAT, but he had a slightly nasal thin tone. Just a slight touch feminine if you will, Arel sings the same notes, but somewhat more in his chest voice. But if you listen to 2022 or 2023, Arnel has his full range back and is sounding better than ever. Whatever the problem was, they fixed it.
So emotional, great song.
Music is so powerful, it can bring people together- old and new fans from different generations. Arnel has given Journey new life and they should run with it as long as they can. Arnel is a wonderful addition to Journey, he is having the time of his life and the audience are having a blast!

That is because they had to lower the keys of the songs. So of course he sounds better because if he tried to sing in the original range he would sound awful. But good job Arnel.
I’ve seen him 3 times, never be another Steve Perry but this guy kicks ass.
Best way to honor Steve Perry would have been to bring him back, when he offered to come back 11 years ago.
Seeing all of the band members faces lit up knowing that they have a singer who honors Steve Perry by absolutely killing it on the vocals warms my heart.
This song is in my top 3 of all time fav Journey songs! It's the best! I do hope Jon and Neal can come together so we can hear them do this live next year! Let the Journey legacy continue and this song is an important part of it! Journey forever! C you in Washington DC March 1'st next year! Can't wait! I hope this song opens the set like it did last year!

One of my favorite Journey songs. Arnel is very, very good, but Steve is the voice he emulates. Neal can still kill it on lead guitar. Happy that the music lives on!

flashback 1986.manila.arnel was still singing in pubs.shakey's pizza parlor with live rockbands along the streets of manila.sporting the punkrock image..this song was so famous not just bec its a journeys song but bec of the movie visionquest.after some decades.who could ever imagine arnel will become frontman of journey.
