JR Tsuruga Station ■Trains are arriving and departing! ● Hokuriku Shinkansen/Limited Express

- This is a scene of trains arriving and departing one after another at Tsuruga Station on the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen and Hokuriku Main Line in Japan (weekdays from 12:30 to 18:00). The Hokuriku Shinkansen ``Kagayaki'', ``Hakutaka'', ``Tsurugi'', which opened an extension between Kanazawa and Tsuruga in March 2024, the Hokuriku Main Line limited express ``Thunderbird'' and ``Shirasagi'' that connect to the Shinkansen, as well as the Kosei Line regular train and the Happy Line Fukui regular train. A little bit of it is also visible.
``Thunderbird'' and ``Shirasagi'' depart from the limited express platform located on the lower floor of the Hokuriku Shinkansen platform, and are connected to ``Tsurugi''.
The limited express platform has 2 sides and 4 tracks, with platforms 31 to 34, and at the time of filming, platforms 31 and 32 were being used as disembarking platforms, and platforms 33 and 34 were being used as departure platforms. There is a pull-up line in the back, which then turns around and connects to the track (detention track) located on the west side of the express platform outside the new station building.

At the time of the photo, Thunderbird arrived at No. 31 and 32, then proceeded to the pull line and departed from Platform 33, while Shirasagi arrived at No. 34, turned directly at the platform, and departed.
The Hokuriku Shinkansen platform also has two sides and four tracks, numbers 11 to 14, and the tracks extend further toward the Osaka depot (Tsuruga depot).
In addition to Shinkansen trains that turn back directly at the platform, there are also trains that enter the line from the depot and trains that depart for the depot as a detour.
Also shown are Kosei Line local trains bound for Omi-Imazu (one-man train), Hapi Line Fukui local trains (bound for Fukui and arriving at Awara Onsen), and freight trains that depart from and arrive at conventional conventional line platforms.

特急ホームをよく見たらATS-Pなんですね。以前はどうだったか分かりませんが、湖西線はPだから車上で切り替える必要がなくなるからPにしちゃった感じですね

なぜ北陸本線を上下分離方式にしなかったのだろう
したとしてもおそらく九州新幹線西九州ルートでも同様特急は引退になってたかもしれない。

何故対面乗り換え方式を取らなかったのか?
在来線サンダーバード・しらさぎの2本～新幹線つるぎ1本への接続で、新幹線は東京からのかがやき・はくたかもあります。2面4線では、九州と違って電車の数が多くて難しいのでしょう。
在来線を上に上げて、横にホームを増やし、引き上げ線も立体交差で造ってと、出来なくはなさそうですが、費用が掛かりすぎでやらなかったのだと思います。将来は乗り換えがなくなりますし。
北陸新幹線敦賀延伸おめでとう🎉福井、敦賀まで一直線じゃないか‼️素晴らしい😆今度福井あるいは敦賀の旅行楽しみだよ‼️サンダーバードは敦賀止まりだとしたら東海道新幹線も乗れるようになるんだね😉
