Castings are made in basically the same way in other places, the techniques are the same. Health and safety may be a bit more evolved...

And the original was a forging not a casting and probably steel
Looks like a casting to me, up until recently it would have had to be a casting. Nothing wrong with that for most applications, the vehicle it is for is most likely an old design.
I like the way the people work using tools so primitive no technology 👍

Outstanding work men! I can imagine if one of these fellas visited a shop in the United States. If they needed a new steering knuckle. He would say just cast a new one out back? He would think it was no problem at all where the Americans would be completely dumbfounded. We here in United States have lost our pioneer spirit.

I always thought, such parts are forged and not cast.
Likely for a truck which is as old as either of us, it will do the job as well as any 70s component, it ain't formula 1.
