  • This is PART 2 of "Hoverboard to OFF-ROAD 4X4 SEGABOT#5" - ( Electronics & Drive TEST ).
    As I promised I am back with the electronics and software part without going into detail.
    Mainly in this video I want to show the capability of this off road 4x4 powerful platform.
    As it can be seen, it's able to carry heavy loads on off-road terrain and pass obstacles.
    I want to use this platform as a basis for building an all-terrain robot that I named SEGABOT.
    It is a project that I work on in my free time as a hobby.

    This would make an excellent automated farmhand - a robotic wheelbarrow, for example. But more interestingly for me, as a disabled person, I think with a greater wheelbase and track (for stability) it would make an excellent base for a lightweight mobility scooter that can handle light offroad (going through the woods with my wife, for example).
    This could be *really* wonderful for disabled people with very little money. Multsumesc mult!!!

    Hi, I tried to make 4wd hoverboard bbcar also. But i could control it only with ADC (with two pots) but i could not control it from rc transmitter / receiver. Could you please share your firmware for Rc control?
    Did you use one hoverboard's motherboard for front wheels? (or one for right front wheel and left back wheel?) thanks for yourhel by now.

    I'm thinking about using these for my electric mower that I'm going to build. I wanted to go with mobility scooter motors... but these are like 1/4 of the price.
    Good to see what AWD is capable of.

    Perfec diy project! 😊
    I have an ınteresting idea for my problem in my summer house. The house is in the first line from the shore. What I want is a huge version of this. 😂 I don't need any extra power. 4 wheel drive would be more then enough. My aim is to make it carry four plastic beds, one big roof for shadow, one small 12v refrigirator, 50lt of water (with pump and hose) to the shore. 😂 It's weight will be around 100kg, including the chasis and the load. I can build the chasis with 30mm aluminum extrusion. It will be 2 meters long, 1 meter wide. 😂 The only thing I should solve is wide tires for cruising on the sand. There is no slope on the area, no ditches or bumps on the beach. I can't use the beach as if it is mine. It would be rude. But I can cruise this "donkey" everyday to the beach and turn back every night. 😂 For shadow I can use photovolteic panels I allready own. By this I can charge the batteries. Because I will use the batteries for pump and refrigirator also. 😂 The aim is to create comfortable area on the beach for four people, without occupying it at night and without carrying anything.

    How are the two main boards connected together? Do they both get the same control signal?

    • @BCreativeDIY
      @BCreativeDIY  Před 3 lety +4

    Great work! Is it possible to use only one controller, putting the both left /right side motors to one port?

    • @BCreativeDIY
      @BCreativeDIY  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi. I not possible to control two motors with one controller port. Each motor has 3 hall sensors which provide the information regarding the position of the motor magnets pols to the coil of the stator. With the information from hall sensors the controller compute how much energy shall provide to each coil. If you connect two motor is it almost impossible to have both of the in the same state.

    • @alexeymaslov3865

      @@BCreativeDIY you don't need hall sensors here. You just control the torque

      Thanks for your interest. First of all I have use a firmware from github and, I don't want to take the responsibility on a free software code. And second one, I have no idea if it's worth to transport the boards in both direction :). You can search "hoverboard hack" and you find a lot of information on the internet how to do it by yourself.

      Thanks for this wonderful video. I'm having trouble with the wiring etc. The battery wires attached to the board is cut off. When I try to attach it to the battery it sparks. I tested the battery with another board and that works fine. Can you gimme some tips? Also is it possible to have a chat with you? I need some more direction. Thanks in advance.

    • @BCreativeDIY
      @BCreativeDIY  Před 3 lety

      @@DeepakChauhan-dp9zq If it is a small spark, it may be due to capacitors charging at the first connection. If there is a spark that melts the connectors, there may be a short circuit on the board and from my point of view it is complicated and expensive to repair.

      @@BCreativeDIY thanks for your reply. The spark I would consider is small as per my knowledge, it dint melt anything but as i can see it made the plugs metal part black. Also I'm not sure it may be a short circuit as I dint change any wires. When I attach stm 32 link, it works through perfectly, I've already installed the new firmware. Lemme know if this changes anything?

    what is the overall cost of this hover board? (nice work bro)

    • @BCreativeDIY
      @BCreativeDIY  Před 3 lety

      I wasn't think to this. We can make a raff estimation but I think it depend from where you buy the parts. Overall cost = 2 * (price of the second hand hoverboard "50 to 100 $") + (price of aluminum for the skeleton, around 100$) + (price of a remote control system, around 50$) + (time and work to put it all together :) ) .

      I am not interested in speed. I am more interested how it handle off road terrain. I am not sure this design is good for speed because you can't control the direction very well at speed.

  • @hubertus323f
    @hubertus323f Před 3 lety

    how much speed can you have with bigger tiers? Also can custom firmware reach more power (i read about 35A at 36V), can i overvolt integrated ESC for more speed?

    • @BCreativeDIY
      @BCreativeDIY  Před 3 lety

      In my application I was interested in torque rather than speed. I expect the speed to increase in proportion to the circumference of the wheels and the torque also decreases proportionally.

      Hi. In the firmware presented here: czcams.com/video/VGFn5jXRnlM/video.html , there is a parameter ";default_envs = VARIANT_HOVERBOARD ; Variant for HOVERBOARD". I suppose if you enable this, the firmware will work in Hoverboard mod. I'm curious if it works, I haven't tested it.

The feeling is interesting with this design but it drains the battery a bit fast because I have used the the torque control settings. I tried to configure it in kart mode in which it controls the voltage, but it doesn't steer well anymore.
