If the house was truly unoccupied for 20 years you need a pest service company ASAP.

We had one come out like a week and a half ago and then again today. This company was WAYYY more thorough.

Bless you, mama!! You might want to put some peppermint oil
On cotton balls and place them in corners, by windows etc. You can also dilute it a bit with some water and put it in a spray bottle and spray those same areas regularly. Peppermint oil is a repellent to rodents and a lot of bugs. Hope it helps!

Remember the house is old. I have had 4 houses build and as soon as we move in I see spiders and lady bugs, the south. Keep your house sprayed and outside.❤
Definitely will. We are still focusing on sealing all the gaps. We had a small gap above the door yesterday and a big battle looking thing come up and went right back in. It’s crazy how they squeeze through everything

Have the AC/ Heating duct work cleaned. Also check the attic for bugs. Also have the house sprayed for pest inside and outside because the house has sat for so long and the bugs have moved in.
I just found your channel and I love your family. Jeremy is funny and yes more home reno stuff. Remove the panneling finish sealing up everything and then have another company come out to get rid of the bugs. And keep smiling!!😊 You all are great!.

The bug you found in the basement actually eats spiders so if you have a spider problem those guys are good to have around for now.

Yeah our home is in back of a farm. We had to get an exterminator for the first year to keep spiders and ant and whatever else away. We’re starting to see spiders again. I think it’s common to see huge bugs like that, when a house sits for awhile

I used to have to set off a "fumigator a bug bomb" once a month until it was gone. I got them from a hardware store. Going forward, I hope this helps🙂

Dehumidifier in your basement, and even another in your garage, etc. Moisture draws bugs. Loved my French doors with blinds. They can be completely rolled up.

You really do need a Pest Control Co to check out your situation since you do live in a woodie area they can come in and set what they call a "bomb" off and check the outside.
They come out weekly and it’s been a huge difference, especially with us sealing up the house
God presented the deal so you could get what you all Needed, needed. You will make it your own I have no dought (the slider doors)

Oh no, I'm sorry about the doors, I had those in my old house and I hated them so much! It drove me crazy that I couldn't just have plain glass when I wanted. I bet the door guy tried to convince you to go ahead with them because they aren't as popular as they used to be and he wanted them sold.
Right?! They eventually swapped them out for regular ones

Get some orange and lemon oil and spay it around the house. Get some citrus type plants and put it around your house. Squeeze the leaf gently to release the scent.

Everything looks so good! Can’t wait to see the finished look! Also, welcome to the Midwest baby. Those centipedes and spiders will make an appearance every once in a while. Those spiders are wolf spiders by the way they’re huge! We get them here in GA. Also, we get “waterbugs” that look like huge cockroaches.. (I think they are cockroaches) they like to travel through the drains and sometimes they fly 😩

I like the updated look of the fireplace and walls, it's a good, affordable option since new wall panelling would be expensive. The two tone of the white wall and wooden shelves is a very nice touch instead of all white. Very excited to see the finished look!

I agree about the bugs i moved from NYC to 8 hours away into Pennsylvania and the journey is real got a beautiful home and did the work to avoid what we have seen and really not use to seeing all the large spiders and host of other creatures of nature living indoors but now i know i have to except this new way of living at times it gets the best of me 🥺 just think of it as a constant maintenance tactic to have less inside home..blessings family
I also live in the midwest and we just have a lot of bugs. They are a nuisance but I have learned to live with them. I take all ladybugs outside. They are a beneficial bug. And every few years we "bomb" the whole house with a raid fogger.
Did you guys seal the house up? Check for gaps around the baseboards, window trims , door trims, etc?
We also live out in an area with bugs, we are currently fighting bees. Peppermint oil (the real stuff) will make them go away. Also, lavender and garlic. any strong-smelling thing. Our house smells like peppermint right now 😁

Wild Green Onions are so awesome they smell so goodnwhen they are mowed,My Grandma used to pick them. I’m new to your channel! Hello! But I wanted to comment on the bug situation.. take down the blinds and seal any cracks around the windows and in the dry wall!!! Once we did this in our home the bug problem disappeared! They were coming in from the cracks in the dry wall and trim behind the blinds sis .. just wanted to share that ❤

Honey the bugs are being sealed in. They hide then come out when they are comfortable!
We’ve been running our dehumidifiers and having pest control spray weekly. Ever since we sealed the inside of the house (new flooring , new baseboards, caulked around baseboards, trims, added weather stripping, etc) HUGE DIFFERENCE. It’s only up from here. All of our new windows are almost done and new siding installed this week.
It looks so good! I can’t wait until everything is complete! And yes post more remodeling vlogs pleaseeee!

I feel for yall with the bugs! We’re on 3 acres also in Ohio and yes you’re right just cause you’re in the country it doesn’t mean bugs should be coming in your home. Don’t listen to or accept that lol girl they belong outside. We don’t have bugs in our home cause we live in the country whoever is telling you that or think that’s true don’t eat their dish at the potluck 😂😂. It’s gotten a thousand times better since we sealed the home up. It’s amazing what proper care does to a house. Finally getting this house up to our standards 😊
We had back doors with the blinds inside. We ended up taking the blinds out. They were held in place by magnets.
We just got them replaced so thank God ! I did not like them

Hi there! When we moved into our place we had some spiders to get rid of too. That big spider you had may have hitched a ride from California, because spiders in the Midwest don't usually get that big. It may have been someone's pet or something. As for your videos, whatever you want to put on your channel is fine with me. You should be able to post whatever you want since it's your channel. Have fun with it! You're doing a great job so far.

😲Buy 2 big mint plants from the garden shops or hardware stores, get some small planters and buy plant soil Now break off some mint limb with leaves and plant them in the smaller planter pot in the soil. Make 4 to 6 of the new replants then put them about 3 pots in a room.😲 bugs cant stand peppermint and cinnamon scents and smell it makes their bodies sting. They will pack up and leave. For crawly bugs like roaches put a mixture of 2tbs of baking soda mix with 2tbs of boric acid powder and teaspoon of white sugar and sprinkle it along the wall to the corners of the room. They will eat that then swell up and pop at night cause they can't burp like animals can🕷🕷🦂🐜 Also this is natural harmless bug repellant.
