To anyone questioning this bike, this is an amazing bike. I've ridden both this one and the standard R1 and that only place you can tell the difference between the 2, is on paper. They both accelerate just as fast as one another until top end only because unfortunately dumb Yamaha decided to limit this to 170mph instead of 186mph on the standard R1.
Z Nismo I have riden both also. Maybe you arnt much of a rider but we topped this bike out in 2 exits on southern state Parkway. Paper? The proof is in the build they used steel and max rpm is 12000 rpms. Lol paper
josephr5113 calm down kid, bet $ you can't even see me in the canyons or track. Even look up the times, R1S and R1 run the exact same 1/4 mile times, top end is the only place there's a difference. And on track it's like less than a second difference.. for $1500 less, R1S is a great bike and better buy.
Z Nismo the bike is made of weaker and heavier materials 1/4 who is doing that and a street bike. Lol canyons and tracks you say you can't even feel the difference between these 2 ways different bikes.
josephr5113 it's only 9 pounds heavier. You must be racing in MotoGP if you can feel the difference in that LMAO
It's quite insane how quickly these litre bikes pick up speed. At those speeds though there really is no room for error........AT ALL!!!
I purchased this bike today. Great bike by far. I was contemplating on getting it because of the rev limiter bs but because of that I gained 2lbs of torque. Acceleration over top speed any day. The bike can probably hit 186 with a flash, pc5 and full system but let's be honest we hardly ever go that fast on our liter bikes. I raced my friends 2016 zx10r I actually beat him to 170 because of my acceleration and we stopped there. We get up to 160-170 and that's it. Plenty fast and it pulls hard af. With the money you save buying this model spend that on performance parts. If you're concerned about the 9lb difference then buy some carbon fiber fairings and maybe even the rear wheel. I would recommend this R1 to anyone.
Chris Villa you would recommend a slower bike like the r1s instead of the r1 that goes 186 out of the box. And you say people don't go that fast on a liter bike. When the video is proof the bike is slow. Flashing you risk the crankshaft the crank is steel and doesnt handle heat as well. A 1000 that is just as fast as an r6.
Well if we raise the Rpm then yes that would be bad for the R1s model and yea I would. Anybody can roll the throttle. Track users I don't think iit's the best bike but most of us don't go to the track enough to care. Don't get me wrong the R1 is a fantastic bike with or without the extra 2k rpm. Sorry you can't appreciate it brotha. Ride safe though if you're running speeds like that
And this thing will smoke any 600 lmao my 750 will wipe the floor with the r6 and the r1s is clearly faster than the 750 as well.
I've had my 2016 r1s at 185. Definitely not as aggressive as a "normal" r1 but plenty fast in it's own right.
Awesome!
I have a 2016 R1s it is flashed with a slight redline increase and one tooth down in the rear with a 520 conversion. My bike makes the same power as the upper model i have tons of proof and its top speed is 187 💪
@@crossplane9894 Just making sure the engine could handle the tune. Was contemplating doing something similar. Thanks for updating me :)
I have NOT ridden an R1, but did just purchase a 2016 r1s (OMFG THE INSURANCE). I came from a 2007 zx6r top speed 146 (changed sprockets). I have not topped out the Yami but hope to on the back end of RA after a flash and a cat delete! I may get a chance to ride a new R1 tracked out bike my friend rides in WERA though! Arent the speedometers off 5% or more?
Not bad for specced down from the original r1
Crazy Man!!!!
nice!!!!!
nice
This is "S" model. the cheapest and heaviest R1 series you can get in the market.... this S model has locked the ECU at 12,000 RPM whilst R1 or R1 limits at 14,000 RPM. most engine parts are changed from aluminium or titanium to a steal.
basically this R1s is more for daily ride than speeding or racing with others.
Yes it's the base R1. But you using the words "cheapest" and "heaviest", you're making it sound like it's not a good bike. It's only 9 pounds heavier because of very few parts being replaced from magnesium to aluminum or steel, mainly the wheels. The 2 big differences would be the 2k lower rpm, and LIMITED top speed of 170 even though it can easily hit way over that. It still runs the exact same 1/4 mile at 9.88 I believe. Same body, electronics, etc. Top end is the only place you'd see a difference performance wise. But being $1,500 cheaper, it's a great liter bike!
Z Nismo thanks i planned on buying the R1s and Flashing it while addding an sc exhaust .. and probably some Bts wheels so it should just be a better R1 when im done hopefully
GsxRell doing the exact same thing. But yes the r1 has a top speed of like 190mph. But unless you plan on tracking the bike very often & I️ mean very often the s model is better. I doubt many can even push the s model to the limit
People the egine temp is low. See the redline at 12000rpm? At operating temperature it’s at 14000rpm. Electronic rev limiter.
170mph ~ 270 280km/h
Hey bud if you havent already do an ecu flash and bump the limiter from 12200 to 12400 and you will sit right at 176-177mph. It is reliable ive had it that way on my s for 5k miles and im going to bump it to 12500 on friday when i have a full custom map built on my ecu. Just know reguardless the s will get to that top speed faster tham the upper models because those steel connecting rods gives the bike more torque with its heavier weight and it didnt even loose any significant hp less than a hp but got 2lbs of torque.
josephr5113 Gotcha, what did you wind up getting? Even as is ive been killing the upper models in the straights until top
It looks to be computer limited to 170.
日本人さんへだいたい272km/hです
risky business on the southern state haha
So mine tops out at 160 with +2 rear and +1 in the front. How can you hit 170? Mine stock hit 155...
I want
Rpm limit 12k?
My 2013 zx6r does 165
This bike redlines at 12k...the regular r1 redlines at 14.5k raise the rev limiter via tune and it will gain more top end
and risk damaging the engine, they are different internally and the rev limiter is for a reason.
Is this bike slow due to american restrictions or because it's the "street" version of R1 rn32?
Just change the sprocket, it has more in it
Is it hitting the limiter at 170? It looks like it gets to 170 pretty easily. I wonder if a sprocket change will help it go higher. Almost all 600's can do 175.
***** I don't think the carbon fiber on the r1m would make any significant difference. r1s and regular r1 only have a weight difference of about 9 lbs. You could skip lunch and you would be good.
I did some research, and it tops out at 170 due to being geared shorter than the standard r1
Bowen Leigh thanks i planned on buying the R1s flashing it and adding a exhaust.. but it seems i would have to spend more money setting up gears on it so the R1 will do
GsxRell lol bro with the 5k you save getting the s a 45-50$ rear sprocket isnt going to put you anywhere near that price difference. I just saw 2016 new r1s models selling for 9999$
You need a flash tune
What's the flash tune gonna do? I just got this bike and thinking of exhaust upgrade to seep some flames
274 Km/h ? Hmmmph
Limiter alert 😢
Thus the "S" model..
the real question is... is the r1s worth the value?
White nationalism Or nothing Yes it is. Ridden both, and ONLY place you can tell the difference from the standard R1 is on paper. Just as fast and capable.
170 mph.. Hmm
Its 171Mph, not Kph
170MPH => 273,3 km/h hmmm
Loz
Que mielda
R6 hits 170 this should hit more 😓👎🏼
The R1S will get to 170 so much quicker. Side by side race the short-geared R1S would disappear from the R6.
170 thats all it got
ninja_ 3hundred it's not the weight, it redlines sooner than the r1 and r1m.
IF YOU SCARED TO RIDE UNTILL 299KMH NO NEED TO MAKE VIDEO,LOL😂, YOUR HEADLINE VS ACTUAL IS BULLSH1+😂😂
R1m goes 190 or faster
False you can obviously see the performance
@@josephr5113 hey buddy i love right by you and i have a R1s lets make a video bro
@@josephr5113 i pm you on insta bro i am riding tm with a bunch of 15 and newer R1 bro come on out
Kawasaki H2R top speed is 400... R1 has 170 😂😂
Lol that bike is also 3x more 52,000usd to be exact this is the R1s rev limiter is 11k rpm normal r1 top speed is 299 km/hr which is more than you'll ever need h2r isn't street legal either
The r1s is a budget build and the motor is junk had 5 2016 come in the shop with blown motor do yourself a favor get the r1
Your a idiot and i will bet my life you havent seen one s model with a blown engine. Its 1 to 1 the cp4 motor with steel connecting rods and heavier counter weights on the crank. They actaully last longer then the Upper models because of the lower redline. If you did have one come in the shop it was because they prob raised the redline to 15k
Says 171mph sometimes I'm sure you can get more out of it with a flash for sure.
