    What a great quilt! I used to shy away from “disappearing” blocks because I didn’t have a rotating mat. Frugal tip: if you have a smaller cutting mat, (I have a 12x18) you can cut and turn the block on that. Does the same job and you f do not have to spend $ you don’t need to.

    • @wendywilson1736
      @wendywilson1736 Před 2 lety +6

      I don't have one, either. I just use a smaller mat (12x 18") that is good for putting a block on and trimming/ slicing up a block. I made a Disappearing Nine Patch for my niece's baby 10 years It was still easy without a rotating mat.😊

    • @BalletMum14
      @BalletMum14 Před 2 lety +4

      I use a 12x12 self healing mat (same mat I use for card making and scrapbooking). It’s easier to turn because its square and smaller.

    • @karenruch3905
      @karenruch3905 Před 2 lety +7

      I have a small mat too and a lazy Susan for turning.

    • @MrsBobsMom
      @MrsBobsMom Před 2 lety +4

      I came here to say this but you all beat me to it. The rotating mats look scary to me because they seem to wobble when you are cutting, and they are expensive. I, too, just use a regular small mat and spin it around. No lazy susan or anything fancy needed. :)

    Love this quilt! I agree with the sashing and cornerstones. You won't be disappointed in buying an Olfa rotating mat. Watch when JoAnn's has a sale and then they are not too expensive! There are other rotating mats that are wobbly.

    Anyone else see the red and green border and think about Christmas layer cakes for the center? It would be a great way to show-off a Christmas layer cake, plus it makes a kind of star pattern with a pinwheel in the middle. This is a really cool design! Have a great day everyone!

    Donna, I Love this quilt! It reminds me of the many quilts my Grandmother Ella Krabbe made! She was a Professional Tailor in San Francisco; she made beautiful clothes & suits for the Pro Ball Team's in the Bay Area many years ago. She also belonged to a Quilting Bee group that met often (I remember them meeting at her house and working on a masterpiece quilt for any particular occasion). This quilt would've definitely been a quilt on her Quilting Frame. This beautiful quilt brought back a lot of fun memories! My Mother, though not a quilter, is a fab seamstress. I, as an Artist, took up quilting about 25 years ago; I always have 2-3 quilts in progress 😊 Donna, Thank You, and your Crew, for ALL that you do; your vids ARE awesome quilt tutorials for beginners & advanced quilters, & everyone in between! Cheers and Good Health to you All. Big Hugs, Lindsay, Sacramento, California ❤
