He's been fighting for middle n lower class Americans for years yet we failed him when it counted. 😢 He's the president we needed and deserved 😔 Only person I've ever donated to and I don't regret it❤

You know Bernie is a bad person when he talks about raising the minimum wage. Raising the minimum wage instead of using conservative policies that tighten up the labor market is just cruel. When the minimum wage is increased, people at the margins or are barely employable and already are facing tough times end up with an income of zero. That's sadistic. It's actually conservatives that are proponents of limited government with low taxes and low immigration that tighten up the labor market are capable of feeling any empathy or compassion toward the poor and lower incomes.
When the bottom 1/5th of wage earners had their incomes rise the fastest out of all the income groups after the 2017 tax cuts. That was the first time that had happened since the George W Bush administration.
Because both W. and Donald Trump used John F. Kennedy theories of using lower taxes, less immigration, and deregulation to tighten up the labor market. Which raises wages, allows mobility, allows for advancement, and gives people dignity.
Compare that to the liberal policies of using high taxes, open immigration, and over regulation to put permanent slack into the labor market. Which lowers wages and drives up housing prices at the same time to the point tens of millions of people don't have any money left at the end of the month.
AND IT'S THE LOWER WAGES AT THE BOTTOM THAT ALLOWS THE EXCESSES AT THE TOP. CAUSING THE WEALTH GAP.
Bernie is for the billionaires. I know that's tough to hear for Bernie fans. You are being told the truth to free you from a prison you do not even know you are in.

Unfortunately for you, anyone can go into the IRS data and see the truth for themselves.
"Filers who earned $50,000 to $100,000 received a tax break of about 15 percent to 17 percent, and those earning $100,000 to $500,000 in adjusted gross income saw their personal income taxes cut by around 11 percent to 13 percent.
By comparison, no income group with an AGI of at least $500,000 received an average tax cut exceeding 9 percent, and the average tax cut for brackets starting at $1 million was less than 6 percent. (For more detailed data, see my table published here.)
That means most middle-income and working-class earners enjoyed a tax cut that was at least double the size of tax cuts received by households earning $1 million or more.
What’s more, IRS data shows earners in higher income brackets contributed a bigger slice of the total income tax revenue pie following the passage of the tax reform law than they had in the previous year.
In fact, every income bracket with filers earning $200,000 or more increased its tax burden in 2018 compared to 2017, and every income bracket with a top limit lower than $200,000 paid a smaller proportion of the total personal tax revenue collected.
That means that Republicans’ tax reform law resulted in the tax code becoming slightly more progressive - the exact opposite of what Democrats have claimed over the past four years.
The IRS data further shows that the tax reform law - which included a variety of business tax cuts, including a large reduction in the corporate income tax rate - spurred economic mobility.
Every income bracket with a top level lower than $25,000 experienced a reduction in its number of filers, and every income bracket above $25,000 increased in size, with the biggest gains occurring in the brackets with a floor of at least $100,000.
The fact is, Republicans’ 2017 tax reform law did exactly what was promised: It lowered taxes for all income groups, provided the greatest benefits for middle-income households, and spurred economic growth that helped reduce poverty and improve prosperity."

obi wan Kenobi. I sure do appreciate--and agree with--your post here. How I hope Biden declines to run for a 2nd term...and makes his decision known soon. There are many indications that show why Reps believe strongly that their candidate--no matter who that turns out to be--would defeat him...handily. And, we all know all the reasons why! Biden just continues to get very noticeably weaker in too many ways. Consider his hesitant speech, searching to retrieve the words he wants. Consider his gait across a stage and/or his hesitance when exiting his plane's steps. Or his falls. Etc. None of those drawbacks will diminish, and there is much reason to believe they and others--including his general lack of vigor--will increase. I wish he would announce his retirement early, meaning soon, to give our Dem candidate the best--and the fairest--opportunity to win our government back. #NotMeUs.

This historical context is so important. Progressive policies work so well that future generations will take them for granted, but that doesn't mean they were easy to pass. No serious politician today would dare to take away Medicare, but can we get a majority of Congress to be in favor of instituting child care or free college? Seems unlikely.

Biggest Thanks to you for your post and your support of Bernie! An Illinois native, I first learned of him from an August 1963 Chicago newspaper. He was being arrested for marching against segregation and spent the night in jail. I'm glad the You Tube--"Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago"-is still available. I send much respect and affection back to you...and to Germany. I accept now, finally, that I will never get to visit your nation, land of my maternal grandmother. That had been a lifelong dream, in part because the very young girl who would become my grandmother came over, alone, from Germany to Missouri, by herself, so many, many decades ago. I would have admired her for that history alone! But, her journey was extra impressive to me because she brought with her a very large ("huge") burlap sack of goose down she'd picked to have a gift for her relatives--who'd immigrated to Kansas City some time before. Grandma Meta Schissler, a widow, quickly became a baker in K.C. for the rest of her life. She visited my mother (her only child) and the other three of us in Illinois way too few times, and my Mother only visited her in K.C. twice, due to both time and money constraints. I was very young the first time she came to Champaign and remember being very shy--even a tad fearful--when I first heard her accent! Then she baked, and I immediately loved her forever! How many always exquisite, delicious, unforgettable wonders she created on her visits. Memorable still--and I'm now 87.

I seem to have a bit of a different memory about his dropping out...and...I really hope any and all readers will correct me if my memory is wrong!! My excuse is that I'm 84. As I seem to remember it, Bernie and his staff looked at all the data "out there" and ran the latest numbers for the remaining primaries. Nothing added up to enough votes to win. So, based on all the research, "they" made the terribly agonizing decision to continue no longer...to suspend the campaign. One aspect of the decision was that he didn't want his supporters to continue to contribute money hoping for a winning outcome...when it had finally been shown with data that there was now no path to a win. Does anyone else remember it that way?? #NotMeUs.

If Bernie actually cared about poor and working class people, Bernie would be a Kennedy Reagan conservative.

The economy benefits when workers have money to spend, which makes sense if you can think about it. Raising the minimum wage is actually great for the economy.
Repubs, aka- the diseased call girls of the wealthy, have been told the opposite, and of course they swallowed it like a fish taking a lure. Then they regurgitate what they've been told. Naturally, repub minions never bother to think independently or do their own research. They simply aren't mentally equipped to do so.

If anything 2021-2023 is the greatest example of why wage increased doesn't cause inflation. This is because corporate profits have been the number real reason of inflation. eggs profits are up 700% because the corporations decided to charge it and because of necessity people kept buying them. Meanwhile we have "stagflation" where the wages are not keeping up with the average price of goods and services, forcing people into lower classes and more debt.
