    How much does it help to go to a college with an actuarial science major as opposed to just doing finance or something? Does it matter?

    • @EtchedActuarial
      @EtchedActuarial  Před 2 dny

      Great question! Going to a college with an actuarial science major can give you focused coursework and early exposure to the field, which is definitely helpful. But, many actuaries come from finance, math, or other related majors too. What really matters is passing actuarial exams and gaining relevant experience. If you're interested in the profession, you can succeed regardless of your major as long as you’re committed to the path. 😊

    Hi 👋 Recent accounting grad here. Not sold on the high cost of taking and studying materials for CPA. Also afraid that CPA won’t allow the lifestyle I desire - less about money and more about what I do outside of work. Still want to have a career so I looked at Internal audit and CMA but there is no guarantee I can get a job that is relevant as per the requirements to take the exam without getting a masters in my job market 😭. Took a look at your videos and I’m sold on actuary. Took a look at the syllabus for SOA exams and pathways and I like that I can go at my own pace. Any tips? Is it common for someone with an accounting, finance, or economics degree to choose this path?
