I have a question. I've started the attack on wizard Island and Copeland didn't join which seems odd. Did I not get enough trust to get them to join the fight?

Correct, Lexy. If you don't get Peaceful Lake and/or Hot Springs at Trust 3 before that final mission, they won't be there during the cut scenes. It doesn't affect the fight, difficulty, etc., it just means Cope & Manny and/or Alkai won't appear during the cut scenes.
