It was Japan, not China who subjugated Vietnam during WW2. Also the Gulf of Tonkin incident was, broadly speaking, a false flag operation carried out by the USA. It's far too convoluted to go into the specifics, but the US government lied about what was supposed to have occurred.
1:14 "after [IT WAS REPORTED that] a naval warship had been attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin". It would have been so easy to tell the truth, at that point. This attack was provoked, but the N. Vietnamese forces were not stupid or suicidal. Col. Fletcher Prouty reports how S. Vietnamese vessels (under control of American "intelligence" agency) attacked the installations in the Tonkin Gulf prior to the entrance of the American vessels, in order to provoke an attack. The attack never materialized, but the fiction overran the truth.
2:53 Visiting the site of Thich Quang Duc’s immolation was one of the most powerful and emotional experiences of my life. The willpower it would take to withstand a demise like that, let alone without uttering a sound, is completely incomprehensible to me. EDIT: I just noticed that this video only has 5k views??? 🤔 Not sure what happened there- but you deserve way more! Keep going!
0:20, '....Subjugated by the Chinese Empire during WW2'? Sorry, what? China is a 'Peoples Republic' and has been since 1912, definitely not an Empire during WW2, AND, (A real big AND), it was subjugated by the Empire of JAPAN during WW2. North Vietnam was helped by the Peoples Republic of China during their bid for independence and the uniting of North and South Vietnam after WW2. Proofing and Fact checking seem to be lacklustre in this edition.
This channel is amazing I love all your works and personally I can fall asleep to your voice bro it's soothing and calm it's one of the most soothing voices I've heard in my life and I have sensitive hearing and your voice don't bother my ears at all keep up the amazing work for real great channel!!
I always find it interesting how, even today, I can hear a Huey coming from over a mile away. The way that helicopter was created, and it's blades, just doesn't make it silent or "indecipherable" in any way. They could hear it coming just as we could! A "safe LZ" was a joke! An LZ was just a hope that you might make it out. The "safest LZ" were the Southeastern beaches which we had controlled for many years. Up in the thick...you're out of luck.
Please don’t let this channel go downhill. Used to be amazing, well done videos on topics I knew little about (Iran-Iraq war got my started) and now it seems like most videos are incredibly popular/well known topics that have movies or shows made about them. Click into one of the few recent videos that piqued my interest and already factual inaccuracies in the first minute. Don’t slip away into another generic CZcams history channel. Go back to what made you great!
I respectfully disagree. I believe there’s absolutely nothing wrong with covering well-known topics in your own style. Although I consider myself well-versed when it comes to the history of the American war in Vietnam, I thoroughly enjoyed the video. To each their own! If we all had the same opinions, the world would be an extremely dull place in which to live. 😃🙏🏻 Much love!
00:20: Vietnam "subjugated under the Chinese Empire in WWII"? It starts badly ... Ask the Chinese what they think about their "Empire" and especially during WWII. 01:14: "after a US warship was attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin". Are you serious? What is this channel? The US Pravda?
Democratic west is an vastly oversold concept. Lets talk more about the american empire and its vasal satellites like airstrip one, nuclear buffer like Canada and the nuclear battlefield called Europe.😂
US warships being attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin incident, like someone else's idea of airports seized during the Revolutionary War in the US, are also oversold concepts.
Yeah so oversold every man and his dog wants to move to a western liberal democracy, apparently the utopia of authoritarianism is too much to handle! 🤡

Kabul became the new Saigon.
In Afghanistan, it wasn't a War but a "law enforcement operation", just like in Iraq.
I LOVE this channel!
Lol 20 seconds in and there’s already a huge historical mistake, What Chinese Empire?
And what shipped was attacked in gulf of Tonkin? Maybe good footage but the historical information is suspect
Two big mistakes in the first minute does not bode well for the quality of the content.
@@ianmacfarlane1241to be fair, the second one was at 1:14.

Sorry, bro but you lost me when you said a ship (USS Maddox) being attacked started it. Too basic of an error
Absolutely. Facts are better than propaganda, and the truth of the Tonkin incident has been public for over 50 years now.
26:57 - "...the intricate Ho Chi Minh _trial._ "
I am convinced that these "documentaries" are produced by people who know nothing about history.
Importantly, nothing about what really happened in the Tonkin Gulf incident.
