We met friends at Happy Holiday RV Village campground in Cherokee, NC. Setting up by the side of the Soco Creek, a mountain stream on 40-acre “RV ISLAND”.
There are hundreds of sites pull through, creek-front premium sites and plenty of big rig sites. cabins and numerous tent camping sites.
HAPPY HOLIDAY RV in the SMOKY MOUNTAINS on the CHEROKEE RESERVATION in NORTH CAROLINA
We did a lot of outdoor cooking. We enjoyed the nature. The Smoky Mountain National Park is remarkably close. Numerous waterfall hikes are in the area.
Beautiful riverside campground close to Cherokee attractions, near the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smokey Mountain National Park. Great campground hosts, reasonably priced - included electric 30/50, water, sewer, cable, and WiFi (weak at most sites). Our Verizon cell signal was good, our friends AT&T was not available at all.

I don't remember there being paved sites, but this was 3 years ago. It would be a great place to work camp. There is so much to see and do in the area. You will love it!
@@RVAmerica Okay...my wife called, nothing is paved, but they did bring in some gravel and graveled that area supposedly. From what we understand, they have a lot of gravel sites.
We're suppose to meet with them hopefully this Saturday, but I really want to work until the end of this year to pay-off the motorhome (8-9 more months left) and set aside some expense money.
They have an awesome deal....free full hook-up RV site utilities included, Wi-Fi, $10 weekly allowance for laundary, propane at cost and $10 an hour for all hours worked.
The motorhome is our last debt...all the money would be banked. Cool job for a Nomad.

A buddy and I rode up there on our motorcycles a few years ago to attend the Cherokee Survivor's Rally. Packed our tents gear on our bikes. We camped there right where the creek spits off. It was NICE! Loved the sound of the converging water.

That looks like a beautiful campground. We contemplated driving through Cherokee yesterday on our way back from "Pretty Place" in Greenville SC. Thats a great day trip if you have time.

When I was a around 12-14 years old Quiet a few Decades ago, we stayed at a campground on our Smoky Mountain vacation with my Dad and Mom and some of our friends along with all of the rest of the immediate family. My parents are gone along with the rest of the adults that were there with us. Years ago and you know how nostalgia kicks in, I didn't have anyone left that I could find out which campground it was that we had some awesome times there, a lot of good memories. It got to where it was actually a need to know so one day I hope to revisit it for nostalgia sake. I knew about where it might be and a few months later after I had wracked my Brain on thinking how to find out which one it was I just happen to see a video that popped into my suggested viewing on my youtube. I watched the videos and the entrance going down into it, the layouts were the same and everything about the campground was the same other than updated buildings and such. This is the one we stayed at. It is so weird how these things happen to give you the answer. I pulled it up on google earth and the memories came flashing back. One of the Funniest things I remember was the water in the stream was so cold that we put all of our drinks in it to keep them Ice cold, they were so good pulling them out of the cold water and drinking them. YEAH! You will love it. It is so peaceful there. Be sure to watch our video on the waterfalls. They are all fairly close and pretty short walks that are well worth it. Can't recommend any restaurants. They were all closed when we were there. But definitely catch the water falls. Thanks for watching. Lynn and Danny

@@RVAmerica Thank you so much for your quick answer. We camp at Oconee State Park up above Stumphouse Mountain and we love it and the grandkids too. About 15 or 20 full service sights but you need to book ahead online so you can see the description and a view of the sights.

How difficult is the drive to get there. Way up a mountain or at the bottom?
There are several ways in. The one we took was over the mountain. The curves were not bad, it was just up and down. The mountain. We would definitely go back. There was so much to see in the area. Just check your directions carefully before you head out.
Sounds like the gravel just gets smashed into the ground.
They need bigger gravel.
Everyone buys little gravel because its easier to walk on, and it spreads out and covers more area.
That's kind of what we thought. But it sure was muddy! Thanks for watching.
What a lot of people don't know is this is a man made island. They brought in rock to build this up. If you try to drive stakes into the ground you will notice it is very rocky and this is why. The gentleman that owns the gift shop in the curve going up the mountain towards Maggie Valley worked on this project and can tell you more about it. We stayed here every year when I was a kid and I've taken my kids here. This has been where my wife and I go almost every year for our anniversary.
That is so interesting. We had no idea. It's amazing what we can do these days. Very cool that you went there growing up. This was our first trip and we were totally impressed. The next time we go there I hope to go talk to that man! Thanks for watching.
