I support Kai, as an Asian I really hope to see him do well. I was following him very closely as videos like these were hyping him up. I even bought a few of his rookie cards to make myself feel attached to him more. However clickbait videos like this hyping him up have to stop, to stop giving false hopes to fans, and to give him more pressure and expectation. I have watched him play for Philippines. In various games, he struggled to make an impact. He was sluggish, and not aggressive enough in the post despite being 7'4'. He has the potential but he needs to be hungrier. I have many friends in Philippines and they feel that Sotto seems to be satisfied of making it to the G-League, and training for various NBA teams.

Kai needs to make his presence known when he's on the floor. He needs to keep his head up and stick his chest out so that he looks like he belongs on the court not slouching he looks timid.

Although not all are exactly mastered by him, but only few 7 footers have those all kinds of moves.. His physique is improving each year for strength. Not to mention his good ability of rim protection with his 7'6 wingspan.

Filipinos are now looking at Caelum Harris and JJ Mandaquit for NBA. They are younger and in USA and have 2-3 years to improve prior to draft. In the Philippines, you have 3 20y-old skilled ballers but just needs to get an agent who can bring them in US for 1-2y development and exposure -- Mason Amos, Reinhard Jumamoy, and SJ Moore.
He has the potential to be good in the NBA but he will be a "project player" for the team who plans to draft him. Either he'll get at least a Exhibit 10 contract or at best, a 2-way contract. He's already successful in the Japan B-League now so I don't really see the need for him to go to the NBA. He will earn more there but the quality of the competition in the NBA cannot compare though.

Filipino’s passion is a double edged sword. We need to change this mindset, it’s easy to let the negativities out in the world without thinking of the consequences. The kid have his dream, then we pull him down when we see disappointment instead of cheering him up until he learned from experience. He will become one of the best in our national team.
I just hope kai would eventually make it to the nba soon to fulfill his dream and the dream of his supporters.
He and his handlers must be frustrated,the one who got signed was the guy who fasciliated almost all his points in his last season in Bleague,scouts looked at it and thought his pg was so good in making an average tall guy dominating.The mistake was he depended too much on that pg who was using him to raise his assists numbers,he rarely made his own shots and scouts and NBA managers thinks he's not an analytical type player that they're looking for.Hopefully he won't have that type of teamate this year and he gets to make his own shots.

I think what hindered him from reaching his full potential was trying play like a unicorn in the past years. He's not fast and athletic enough to become a unicorn. It was never his best asset. Also his past coaches wasn't really maximizing his main strength, which is his post playmaking skills. But right now that he found out his specialty(post playmaker), honing it along with his body. NBA won't just be a pipe dream for this guy. He has the footwork he just needs to strengthen his body to keep his balance when playing against stronger guys. He has a great game sense, specially his awareness on offense. And if he master all of those along with his sky hook and a decent mid range jumper. That might be enough to make it as a 6th man heck maybe even as a starter.

It’s not a matter of if he’s ready. The question is will any NBA teams give him the opportunity? The main reason teams practice is because they need to readjust their play with every game to get ready. Kai was barely given the chance in Australia.

It's just a bunch of moves that led to forks in the road, not only for his development, but for his career... and he choose the ones that made him earn more as if a businessman was running his life: G-League Ignite over D1, shooting commercials in the Philippines over the G-League Bubble, the move to the Aussie NBL, applying way too early for the draft hoping a team can stash him, taking contracts in Japan over grinding in the G-League for much lesser pay... he would have been a true bust if he ended up in the Philippines before he turns 24 as if he never was an NBA prospect... and yet Sotto is a 22-year-old, 3-year overseas pro player with a handful of high-level FIBA games under his belt. To be honest, he's only been good for 5 or 6 months after almost 3 years of looking like an average player that was hyped too much.

Thanks NBA Swish... , for this topic or Video about Kai Sotto I wonder if you've watched his Olympic Qualifying Tournament game when his Philippine National Team Gilas Pilipinas beat Latvia the Host Country, and Kai is the second Best scorer of that Game, scouts from NBA watched him unfortunately on their Second Game versus Georgia he was Injured from a Flagrant foul then GoGa Bitadze landed on his body , so He missed the rest of the game then sat on the 3rd game which is the Semis if only he didn't get that minor injury on his rib , those scouts wants to see him on all 3 games so tough luck for Kai Sotto , but yes even his National Team coach Tim Come is Friends with Coach Spoe of the Miami Heat even became an assistant to Coach Eric Spoelstra one time , so it's also good to see Kai soon wearing a Heat uniform , maybe soon depending on his development in the Japan B League where he is playing , we will see him try the NBA Summer League once again next year or maybe get a Two way next time.
