I’m from Maine, and use a chainsaw frequently. Insane to use that saw barefoot with no eye protection. It’s gonna happen
Yeah no shoes no eye protection but they got their ear protection on. I guess hearing is most important part of their body LMBO...
Only too someone that is barefooted indoors and Whinges when they step on a peice of Lego ,, me personally always cut timber barefooted and mow lawns aswell ,I'm 60 and have better feet than most that wear shoes constantly
Yeah it’s stupid & just plain the pinnacle of carrying ignorance to the limit. 😂 They may think it’s normal to them being barefoot and no eye 👁, head or leg protection, until chainsaw kickback, a heavy slab piece of lumber Lands on top of the foot 🦶crushing all the bones 🦴, one slip up of ur foot & chainsaw cuts ur toes off, a dead tree limb falls from vibration of chainsaw & hits your head , A sharp wood chip hits the eye & blinds the eye 👁....To them Until one of these things happen we Naysayers about protection are just stupid. But after it happens we’re geniuses they wished like Hell they’d have listened to.
Given enough time and certain circumstances these accidents do happen. That’s why smart people take safety precautions to avoid these accidents. Helmets ⛑ with face shields, ear 👂 protection, Steel toe logger boots 🥾 as well as leg chaps have saved a many of professional & non professionals from accidents being as bad as they could’ve been.
They are Russians.😎
What an incredible amount of work but the benefits are worth it. Beautiful slabs of wood. ❤️👍🏻🇺🇸

Those are some HARD WORKING men right there!! Great video.
My Dad had a McCulloch Pro Mac with a long bar on it and of course I was his helper. We’d go out in the fall and take down two trees. Stack the cord and go pick up the cords we left from last year. My Dad always wore a hat, leathers, gloves and his safety glasses from his normal job, but we never used ear protection. I have tinnitus really bad and I blame a large part of it in being around that noisy saw all day with my ears completely uncovered. He always made me wear jeans, a long-sleeved shirt and my winter boots which had an extremely deep tread on the soles. He always chose the place to park that the car could get out the woods the fastest in case something went wrong and I learned how to drive at a very young age. My Dad was never “flip” with a saw like this guy and he never took chances. My Dad and I were never very close-there were times we wouldn’t say anything for a couple of days. It was just work as fast as you can and don’t do anything stupid enough to get hurt so your mom won’t get upset.
Love those safety sandals.
His safety glasses are even better.

Such a big, beautiful old oak tree. So sad, I bet it was 200 years old or so…although, the marks left on the wood by the lightning are spectacular!
A town I used to live in had an oak that was known to have been planted in 1813, so it was over 200 years when I moved there, and it was not as big as this one. More than a foot smaller in diameter, so I would guess this one to be 300-350 years old.

The chain tensioner broke, twisted snapped off from sawdust overload in the chain guide, which could have been caused by the Rakers not being filed down every so often when sharpening the tooth, so too much sawdust may have gotten incorporated into the bar groove, causing hammering. The other reason the chain was seeming dry is the bar was in slab contact on the front and the back, this maybe due to not using narrow skew wedges behind the saw to lift up, just slightly, the back end of the slab, that slab has enough weight on the bank end to squeeze and stop the saw, perhaps that's why the clutch issue at times.
Just a few thoughts lent to me by a wise old skinny dude, who dude who sold me a Ms 880:)
I mill and slab very occasionally. Having more fun making wood bowls.

I hate seeing old trees die like that but you are putting it to good use. Looks like some kick ass slabs of wood tho.
First: those were some MEAN spikes driven into that tree as it grew! I'm lost trying to imagine an actual need for them, as they were pounded in... So, yeah, lightning found an easy path to the ground from those. For the present, I have to wonder how that poor van of yours carried all the weight you loaded in there! How are your shocks and springs after that? LOL... Anyway, great video guys, and great work! Looks like it paid off!

I love watching you guys, your amazing, talented, hardworking artists! I do love the Skill saws! That van you use is also unbelievable! The loads it carries! Thank you guys, I wonder if you can put. comments about what you see and find while your videoing your work. 😊
I had a van MB 408, the largest load that I carried on it was 2.7 meters of cubic pine logs. This is about 2.5 tons, with a passport carrying capacity of the van 1.7, only the logs were long and almost 2 meters longer than the length of the van, so it was quite risky to drive because the logs were outweighed from time to time and the front wheels came off the ground. Control was lost instantly.😁
Beautiful wood. I wish I had a small version of that chain mill when we had to have our beautiful black walnut tree removed. It was only about 14" in diameter but it was close to the house. The guy chopped it up and hauled it away, leaving only the beautiful stump. It makes me want to plant another in a better location. I thought about saving some seeds only after she was removed.
Beautiful wood! Good job!!

The guide rail being only a quarter of the boards width would to me result in multiplying the runout across the width of the board to the accuracy of the guidance system by a factor of four.
Then using the guidance bar as a ladder only defeats its accuracy.
With all this in mind the runout from one side of the board to the other appears from the video to be relatively small. Although it is impossible to discern from the video a runout of an eighth of an inch.
