      The rap beat is from NWA

    The violin was recorded in YG entertainment studio by a Korean violinist. Teddy and other YG producers used the sample and created one crazy beat on it.

    So I know you caught a couple of them, but the musical references on "Pink Venom" are pretty extensive: The song starts with a crowd chanting "Blackpink" like the crowd chants "Bravehearts" in the Nas song "Made You Look". Then Jennie hits us with a reference to Biggie's famous line "kick in the door, wavin the 44"(Jennie says Coco). Next Lisa references Rhianna's "Pon de Replay" with "One by one and two by two" and also 50 Cent's P.I.M.P. with "you can't get a dollar outta me". Rosé and Jisoo both reference Taylor Swift with "look what you made us do" also "I bring the pain like" is a reference to Method Man's "Bring the Pain". Finally, the Jennie/Lisa rap verse is backed by a sample of Ice Cube/Eazy-E's part of "Gangsta Gangsta" by N.W.A(could also be "Dope Man" pretty much the same sample). All the hip hop references aren't a coincidence as they happened to release this track during the 49th anniversary of hip hop. Teddy(their producer) and the girls definitely weren't shy about shouting out their inspirations/favorite artists in this song.

      I though maybe Roses, I'm so rock n roll, might be a reference too?

      That intro chant is from the intro of Snoop’s I Wanna Rock

    • @arqHHM
      @arqHHM Před rokem +2

      @@SparkimusPrime Snoop's song itself(the intro specifically) was a reference to Nas' "Made You Look" with a straight up sample of that same intro backing as well.

    It's not 3/4, it's actually 6/8 and that's why it doesn't feel like 3/4 because the count it's different and the accents are also totally different. In 6/8 you usually divide the tempo into 2 groups of 3 and on 3/4 you divide it into 3 groups 2, the beat changes when you play it and gives its own vibe.🖤💖

    Great ear re: Jennie's opening lines on Pink Venom. I recommend anyone to listen to Get Money by Junior M.A.F.I.A. It's one of the best hip-hop songs ever. That being said, great reaction.

    BLACKPINK's music company, YG, is characterized by introducing hip-hop influences to kpop particularly through its iconic groups and then continuing into those of recent debut. So it's neither a trendy nor a market choice, it's its trademark, some might think so now of course given BLACKPINK's global impact, but hip-hop roots are long-standing in YG!

    Great reaction. Shutdown is in 4/4 btw. I think the groove of the strings makes it feel waltz-like hence why it sounds 3/4

    • @blackmeetsred
      @blackmeetsred Před rokem +2

      Definitely 6/8. The compound meter (more notes in less time) makes it feel waltzy and bouncy while giving them more space for the groove

    • @sdg7799
      @sdg7799 Před rokem

      Yeah, this is definitely 6/8. there's that triplet feel which gets confused as 3/4, but they're eigthth notes in this and you can count in by conducting in two if you want which is why it gets confused with 4/4. Or at least I'd say 6/8.
