I remember first finding out about Unlocking The Truth on TV one morning (I think it was Good Morning America) and I thought that Malcolm reminded me so much of myself. I was into heavy metal at a young age and played in various metal bands in High School. I'm Black, and from Texas, so I stood out like a sore thumb, but I embraced being so much different than others. I later mixed Metal and Hip Hop and had a great time doing that as well. I hope this kid has big success and brings this type of music to our people and helps to shatter the stigma of Blacks and Heavy music. I'm just saddened to see that he got caught up in the drugs, but I wish him the best in his recovery as well.
It's been tough for him but he is healing 😇
@@annettejackson1061 great to hear that. In addition to being a musician, I am also a counselor (metal health and substance abuse). I understand the struggles of addiction and again, wish him well in his recovery. My band (The Gods Have Failed) cover the topic of addiction in some of our songs. I first saw Unlocking the Truth when I was flipping through the channels and they were on Stephen Colbert on comedy central. At the time it was a rare thing to see kids that age, also young black kids mostly who are only into hip hop and rap nowadays, however it was so nice to see young people regardless of race who have a wider spectrum of musical taste. I say this because of my personal experience with my own black friends who would call that "white people music" and had no idea any other types of music existed because that was the only thing they grew up hearing. Nothing against what they like of course so I introduced all different types of other music to them, metal, rock, oldies and songs ranging from the 60's till the present and it was such a heartwarming sight to see their faces light up and just fall in love with what they were hearing! Not only now they can enjoy the music they grew up with but now there is more for them to enjoy, it's so cool to see how much joy it brings them. I proved to them there is no such thing as black or white music, complete bullshit, music is for everyone! Just like those reaction videos all over CZcams now, I have already been doing that for years, I do love watching them to see other people discover other music they've never heard before and fall in love too. I am proud of all of you in the band, I wish you could have all stayed together but life happens sometimes. You and your former band mates have the best parents too and very deservingly proud parents, I'm very proud of you too Malcolm! From that first day I saw you on TV I was very impressed, you are a smart, talented person and always very entertaining to watch, keep up the good work, I know you will always be successful!

Malxolm is still auditioning musicians but he and Jarad are considering working on a new project. But you're right. His solo work rocks and God does have "a plan" 😇

It's very interesting to hear about his experiences with drug use. I really liked the message at the end about loving yourself and realizing your passion. It's nice to hear that the band is doing well even after they split up. I wonder what genre would Macolm consider his music. I know he said that it isn't strictly rock, but it does have influences from rap and metal.
I'm trying to figure out which genre too. Right now, it's just what I do. New music coming soon.

Why the bassist went to work on a regular job, he should've invested some money and do whatever he wants to do open a business or anything like that.
I'm kinda curious about something..... was the interview MORE about the young mans' drug usage so far, OR MORE ABOUT the musical gifts he has, and the musical plans he has going forward...?!! Sadly, this comes thru as another young talented person who got hooked and went on a downward spiral.... hopefully he stays committed to sobriety and continues musically upward, and this video won't be played as an obituary.
