@LeslieSoprano1960 A FRIEND OF MY FATHER IS 85 YEARS OLD AND SAW DEL MONACO LIVE OVER 60 TIMES AND ALSO SAID THAT HIS VOICE WAS MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL LIVE THAN ON RECORDS . HE ALSO SAID THAT HE WAS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENOL.HE MENTIONED THIS 2 DAYS AGO WHEN I CALLED HIM FOR THE HOLIDAYS . THE LIVE PERFORMANCES ON YOU TUBE OF LA FORZA DEL DESTINO ARIAS ARE THE CLOSEST TO WHAT HE POSSIBLY REALLY SOUNDED LIKE IN PERSON . ENJOY
Though I only enjoy through discounted recording, it is not hard to imagine the pure excitement and stunning to see him LIVE for even once... Pure treat!!!

@@sugarbist Mario's seriousness and attitude toward his work just draw instant respects. The way he prepared his body and voice before the show. UCONN huskies men NCAA final in early 1990's, there was a famous star player on the team, in the final seconds, he was free shooting, his record was 90%plus. If he made one, game tied, but he missed both, they lost the title... it turned out he was in the bar late into early morning the day before the game!!! Even Michael Jordan told us his regret of not discipline. During one playoff with Utah, he ordered Pizza at hotel after long talks with his teammates late into early morning... we all knew then that he was in flu or sick, it turned out he was poisoned by the pizza delivery. Of course he overcame that huge hurdle in the end to win. For today's opera singers, maybe it is too scary to have Mario as a Stone to follow... I learned they are not encouraged to follow old school singings at all...

not a close call. Pavarotti is not even in the same Catagory! But this aria is not a demanding thing, go into dramatic ones later on... MDM is way higher quality than most tenors, of course including P.
Jose CUra, associated w/ Del Monaco...hmm...bad..bad..association. Two different words, one authentic, the other getting faker and faker. Who's who? Please...too obvious.

Is this from some film? Amazing!
Yes. Find it. It is easy.
e sai osa c ha la voce der Cardelli
da quale film è tratta questa Scena?
da "Melodie immortali" (1952) regia di Giacomo Gentilomo
This is "Cavalleria Rusticana" di Mascagni, isn't a film.

I PREFER DI STEFANO SINGING THIS ARIA
He is too thin!
No, di Stefano was also good. This is a romantic serenade.
Molto piu bella quella di Pippo
@@tomislavzoricic7618 no, different timbre, both are fantastic, this is pure steel powerful
I also prefer him and Caruso & Gigli.
