Fiona checks out the open MRI scanner for the first time. Dr Blease the Consultant Radiologist explains how the MRI works while Carol Ann performs the scan itself.
This looks AMAZING! I'm going to have to plan my retirement around where these MRI machines reside. Because those sausage tube MRIs are absolute torture!
This looks like the best MRI machine I've ever seen for claustrophobic patients. Does anyone know what type of machine this is? Name and model to try to find one in the US?
Actually radiologist in America will not accept the results because they are lacking full coverage. A radiologist told me yesterday that it's basically a scam. You must be sedated and put to sleep and use a real MRI machine that has complete coverage
I used this scanner.. I'm really claustrophobic... Honestly it was not claustrophobic at all.. I can stand up and get out any time of you felt the need to
I need an MRI done and I'm don't do well in enclosed spaces. I'd love a trip to Britain and would love to do this at the same time. Just an excuse to take a trip. But this definitely looks easier than what I've seen here in central Pennsylvania.
I have claustrophobia so bad along with sound sensitivity that I have to be put under out Using the same medications they do during surgery I cannot be conscious while I’m in. It’s not just being claustrophobic it’s that sound that drives me crazy I’m also a very large person so there’s no way to move I got trapped in one years ago and it really freaked me out
Sometimes, it can help when the people with you give you control of the situation, with no time constraints so that you can walk around the large and brightly-lit room before approaching the scanner itself. The noise is less with weaker magnets, although this affects the quality of the imaging to a degree as well. I had a conventional scan recently and I'm very familiar with the noises. I tried to work out which rhythm meant which sequence and eventually drifted off to snooze!
They have them in America but radiologist will not accept the results because they are inaccurate, they lack a full coverage scan. You must just be sedated and put under and use a real MRI machine
Hi, the magnetism of an MRI varies according to the 'power' of the machine. Open scanners tend to have lower resolution images but the up-side is less noise and lower magnetism allows for metallic objects to get much closer to the machine without getting pulled into it. There's a clip on the same channel which shows how close I get with car keys to this scanner, which I believe is a 0.5Tesla machine.
How about jewelry that she has on? I ask all my patients to remove their jewelry even gold, don’t want it to pull and or heat up in a high field magnet.
People are getting less strict about metal in MRI scanners these days. Pacemakers, for example, are finally being accepted in lower Tesla MRI scanners.
According to a very experienced radiologist this is basically a scam. They lack full coverage. If you're claustrophobic or a child you just have to be sedated and put under and use a real MRI machine. And a lot of times you can just do a CT scan which are very easy if you're claustrophobic I just did one yesterday.
Hi, CTs involve radiation, with an associated lifetime increased risk of malignancy. The open MRI is of a lower quality, due to the weaker magnet, than a closed MRI in general, but the images are still of diagnostic clarity. No scam.
I had a normal mri siemens 1.5T yesterday no problems I nearly fell asleep had BBC radio 2 playing on head phones.. Suck it up it could save your life 🙄
did you say suck it up??? saying that to someone who's extremely claustrophobic doesn't help... it's really not a walk in the park for some of us you know😒😒😒

DUDE!! NOTHING OVER MY FACE I CAN DO THIS ONE- NEED THIS IN THE US
True this is much better

Fantastico ❤
5:05 if you had a panic and felt the need to get out, could you easily? yes, unlike most MRI.
Should the "patient" have jewellery on in an MRI scanner?
What model MRI ia rhia??????? thanks. Could use one in san francisco (or anywhere in california.)

So far I haven’t found anyone near me that will do anesthesia for this. My fear is unreasonable, I get it, but I am beyond terrified.
I need to find hospitals in Chicago that offer this
can you do this type of open mri for pelvis/ lower abdomen?
Does the bed on this come out for transfers from a wheelchair?
Who has this MrI. What is this one called
Its good
Is this available in the U.S.? Where ? What is the brand and the model of the machine? Thank you!
I need This in Montréal..I have hypertrophie..is terrible
Is this Maschine loud?
It is loud i had mine on Wednesday
I wish we have this in Toronto
This is truly an open mri can we have this in the US?
I'm wondering that as well , are there MRI like this one in the US?
I was just going to ask same thing
We do have them here. You just need to request for an open mri.
They have them in America but radiologist will not accept the results because they are inaccurate, they lack a full coverage scan. You must just be sedated and put under and use a real MRI machine
How was she able to film so close to the magnet and I always wondered what the constant (air pump) sound MRI have is?

I also noticed she went in with a necklace and bracelet
@@dtmma3 yes, this was quite a surprise to me.
America so behind!
No metals allowed in the MRI room.
The camera is a safe distance and it's not made of too much metal that it would be pulled

Tesla power
Shes wearing jewelry and metal, is this for real lol

Thanks for the insightful help

How about you just suck it! You have no idea what my fear is like. Honestly it is so bad I would likely choose death.
