Yeah, kinda frustrating that a LMP car cannot reach even close to 400 km/h. They have to scale it down because of load times. That's the problem with open world games. Dedicated racing games can pull off 400+ km/h because the track is much smaller and far less detailef than Los Santos. GTA has to do so much at the same time they simply can't let cars go as fast as they should. The same apllies to aircraft. And that is why most aircraft are faster at higher altitude. On the upside, it does make the map feel a little bigger. Rockstar could make dedicated racing stages where vehicles could speed up to their full potential. Unload Los Santos and only load the Track. Maybe a few game engine tweaks would be required. But I don't know if that's what people really want.
Actually, they downshift and upshift going into and out of corners, respectively. The most common thing I've seen is Brian downshifting to second going into a corner, then immediately ripping the e-brake. Because his cars are always manuals, he can go into a gear much lower than what he would need for his speed and not damage the engine or transmission, because he can just hold the clutch
@@septarap3901 He probably means the fact, that the digital display shows around 110MPH, while the gauge on the left shows 150MPH plus. I have seen a few weird things on the gauges of EV in GTAV.
It is a transmission called a CVT and it uses centrifugal force to drive the first pulley and then after the first pulley there is a second pulley that gets smaller to make it go faster
@@Victorsvolkswagens No, EVs don't have CVTs. Electric motor does not need a gearbox. Hybrids might have CVTs (e.g. the Prius), because it's more effective by keeping the engine at optimal RPMs (optimal for fuel economy or peak power/torque).
There's a file within the game's folders that tells you how many gears each cars has, if I remember correctly. I think that it's handling.cfg, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

tim fagan John Connors Honda was actually not an XR80, it sounded like a 2 stroke so it’s probably a CR80. And don’t quote me on this but I think had 6 gears and in the film it jumped back and forth with different shots and angles that shifts sound infinite.
Electric cars don’t have transmissions and only commonly have reduction gears... They don’t need transmission because their working range is wide 0-30k+ RPM compared to 600-8000 RPM in normal cars
The Dubsta 6x6 used to have 12 gears, and each wheel received 115% power. This was back shortly after it came out, and was fixed within a week during a hot patch. But it made it for a short time, the fastest vehicle and the best rock crawler in the game. I still haven't beat my top speed of 312.2mph with any other vehicle even in a stunt race from max height going almost straight down with speed boosts the whole way down.
I know, and not all car's in GTA have 6 gears, some have 5,some even have 3, and some have more than 6, electric cars on the other hand only have 1 forward gear as they do not have an engine that needs a gearbox and clutch
@@csababenak7493 the RAGE engine can only handle upto 6 gears iirc. Going above that glitches the game out. An example is the toros which gets stuck in high gears because of having more than 6 gears

Old car I would guess that uses the "three on the column" kind of gear lever.Also that old rusted tractor has 3 gears...With a trainer it goes at around 200km/h....But traction is lacking...a lot....A LOT!
Well, some gearbox are mounted on a lot of different vehicles. One example are the am6 or the sachs gearboxes. The sachs was mounted on a lot of bikes in the past, including ktm, puch...
Yeah but it's weird because 140mph in GTA is actually equivalent to around 200mph for real, you can tell because of the camera shakes and how fast you are really going on the road.

Bikes, trucks, vans, SUV, muscle and utility vehicles are missing. And since he only tested one single car of the few categories he tested, the results are not even close to accurate. This shows his entirely wrong statement of six being the max gear. The Pegassi Toros for example has eight gears by default and nine gears when upgraded. So this video is wrong in so many places.

You add another gear and put the gear ratios closer together for more power since the engine is kept at a higher RPM. You add another gear so that way you can still go very high speeds.

How could you skip over heavy trucks? In-game they're geared like a car with 6 or so gears. But in reality, most class-8 trucks have anywhere from 9 to 18 forward gears. This discrepancy might've made for an interesting point. EDIT & rant: The transmissions in GTA 5 are my biggest pet peeve for realism. First, the ordeal with the truck's gearing, we've been over that already. Second, no manual gearbox option? Really, Rockstar? Third, the shifting behaviour of the 'automatic' gearboxes we do get are implemented in a fairly lazy way. Shift points in-game are preset and the car *always* shifts at redline (or around) regardless of throttle input or current speed. IRL, an automatic shifts based on engine load-shifting early under low load for better fuel economy, and will shift later in the rev range if you floor it or are towing. Honestly, how hard is that to add?

I need to point this out, in the last arena war update they added a 7th gear that you can see in arena cars (obviously) and some supersport cars, also there's a mod that lets you change gears manually and there you can see how many gears has each car without having to accelerate.
Tip for attention to detail: If you progress in the story mode, you here people on the radio on the car talking about it. Like you did a Heist, you hear on the radio that there was a Robbing at the jewelery store.
I noticed a small detail in the game. Lets say you rear end a vehicle and smash out their window if you drive over the area where their window btoke you can hear the tyres going over the shards of glass.

The toros has 8 gears stock and 9 after transmission upgrades, however being in 9th gear is bugged out.

@@Honja999 A locked differential does not mean the car will not turn its wheels. It means that the differential is doing the exact opposite of what it should: making the car's wheels spin instead of gripping the road.
