This is mainly about Riku's struggle with darkness and Ansem/Xehanort's Heartless, but it particularly focuses on it during KH1 and KH: Chain of Memories. This follows the canon stories of KH1 and KH: Chain of Memories pretty closely, so all you really need to know going into this, if you're familiar with the storyline for both those games, is that the gun/bullets/etc. symbolize darkness. Oh, and that the film-grained clips are either of the past, or a character's imaginings.
And the line, "That he's here means he's never lost", can mean a couple things: One, that Ansem/Xehanort's Heartless didn't really die, and still lives on in some form, and Riku's just realizing that; and two, that if Xehanort was "lucky" enough to retain his individuality and humanity (sort of) after succumbing to the darkness, what are the chances that Riku would have the same fate? Dealing with darkness is like playing Russian roulette; there's always the chance that you'll end up destroying yourself, and every one who DOESN'T destroy themselves before you only makes the chances of YOU destroying yourself that much more likely.
Probability: It's your friend AND your enemy.

Ooh, cool! I'm glad that ended up working well. I did it at first to remove the subtitles, then I ended up liking the way that the whole section ended up looking and fitting as a result, especially the hooded Ansem parts. I was afraid that it would look awkward, though, nearly all the scenes in the beginning going from side to side like that. I'm glad it didn't :D
