  • Hey youtube. This is the "educational" video I made on how to build a cache. Before making one yourself, do your own research, this video, just illustrates how I build a cache. These caches can be for storing almost anything long-term, but for me it would be for a portion of my stack. Hope you all enjoy

Effective and cheap! That is what makes this method so much more attractive. Thanks

Yes, if you are familiar with US in-home plumbing, this is used on the sewage/waste lines. Thanks for watching

Thanks SNJ, the best part about this storage option is it's fully customizable, and lo-cost.

I am glad you found this informative. I would love to use this option now but I have no land of my own, and am not sure I'd want to bury it on someone else's land (like a park, or something). It does bring back a kid-like, treasure hunting feeling though LOL. Thanks for the support as always

Great Video..In my opinion, If I were to bury say paper money in the PVC, I would put inside another sealed container or heavy duty plastic freezer bag to help preserve it.

Thanks for these tips. If/when I make one I now know where to go as a resource. Appreciate it Mr. sNs.

I will show how to seal it in a follow-up video, but it's pretty simple, just add a bead of caulking around the threads of the plug fitting and tighten down. Any silicone-based caulk will do fine in my opinion.

Very true... I've gotten a lot of feedback about cache's because of the metal detector crowd out here, but I would probably stick to burying one of these on my property (my goal is to buy 1-3 acres of land to build a vacation cabin for the family) and I'd be burying my cache on that property.

Thanks Mr SnS! This is going into my favorites and your video makes it look really simple (even I can do it)

In the future, remove that threaded plug before applying the glue. I've seen too many people in our hardware store that let the glue run down inside the fitting and got into the threads, and never be able to get that plug unscrewed!

Extreeemly instructional and useful, SNS! Even I could do that! I just love the concept! reminds me of like the old pirate movies. burying my treasure, and creating a map, while X marks the spot. Aarrghh matey!! ;) definitely, a viable option to consider for us avg. Joe six pack stackers. I'd imagine you'd have to be very smart about where to bury it so that it could not be easily found or metal detected. Thanks also for the previous reminder to bury it below the frost line. (48 inches)

That was very interesting, thanks! I added that to my favorites list, may be going back to this soon. When you do finally fill that, are you going to show the sealing of it and how much caulking to add to the threads?

I am too as a test run, not gonna put anything of value in it, maybe some tissue and metal cans, just to see how this works against moisture.
