Nice video, i just did it in my own m340 G21. I highly recommend use ISTA and perform the transfer case service program. In that way the bmw diagnostic tool opens a valve in between the chambers inside the transfer case, so that more oil can be sucked out. I managed to get 700 ML out of the system.
Interesting about its service mode. I did some research before attending this, and xHP (a tool/company that does BMW ZF transmission tuning) recommends not to reset transfer case adaptation after changing the transfer case fluid. That’s why I didn’t even bother to try plugging in my computer to run ISTA 😅
Honestly, it sure looks clear still. I’d say 80k km/50k mi is a good start. That’s when I changed the tcase fluid previously on my F30. Car ran fine till I traded it in.
Different design of systems between transfer case and the front/rear differentials. The diffs have a spacious opening for us to feed a way larger diameter hose down, should you choose to siphon out the old fluid. Whereas, on the transfer case, you are “forced” to use a hose that has a way smaller diameter. As well, the transfer case opening has an awkward angle for us to aim at to feed the hose down.
@@TandeGarage I’d do it myself but i don’t want to only get 30% of the old fluid out, what are the chances you got so little out because some of it just burned away? When I did my front diff there was like almost less than half old left (I know not good lol)
I don’t think that some was burned away per se. More like I didn’t have the patience to get as much out as I could. When I was changing the TC fluid and making this video, I was rushing (in a way) to get it done, as I needed the transmission fluid to be changed and the car to be ready to go the next day. If I had more time to do it again, and knew that I needed a hose smaller in diameter, I should’ve been able to siphon more fluid out of the TC.
@@TandeGarage alright good to know that it’s doable with more patience, thank you, you’ve helped me out a lot with my 2020 g20 330ix thus far, 92k miles and 0 issues (even with my stage 2 tune).
It’s a relatively small reservoir, and BMW only sells their DTF1 in 1L bottle. That should be more than enough for at least 1 drain and fill. For the fill plug, I would advise getting a new one since the seal could break on removal. If the seal isn’t ripped, you MAY be able to get away with the old plug.

Great video and description.....
Merci from Montreal, Québec, Canada, i will do my self... see ya
Appreciate the comment! Hope you’ve enjoyed the video and learned to tackle this start to finish!
I'd love to see if you take on transmission fluid change.
Check out my other videos or How-To playlist under my channel. It’s already been done 👍
And that went smooth!
I have to do transfer case Ty so much brother. I followed your instagram as well showing my support
Appreciate you greatly!
Whats the recommended interval for this yourself looked very clear still

So why was it so hard to get the old fluid out, it was relatively easy with rear and front differential

@@shotikoedisherashvili3834 I’m glad to hear!
Do you reuse the bolt or replace new one? Will it leak if reuse the old bolt?
How many quart do it take?
