Having spent years fixing and flying in Porters, their other party trick is to hang off the propeller and slowly rotate before dropping the nose and going into Beta descent
Wow ... The descent rate on the porter is at least 10,000 feet per minute! That's some incredible jumping WITH the jump plane alongside. Awesome job and pilot / jumpers - where is this DZ?
No, lol. At max beta pitch (not to be confused with beta power/reverse, that isn’t allowed in flight) the Porter is maxing out at about 100 mph/-4000 fpm
The porter has a prop setting that puts the blades very close to flat, creating a large speed brake effect. This allows the pilot to push into a very swift descent, while keeping the airspeed of the aircraft within safe parameters.
No, no it is not. The Porter has a propellor setting (also called Beta) which flattens the pitch out, creating a large “air brake” with the prop. The pilot can then push into a rapid descent while holding back on airspeed. Beta REVERSE POWER, which reverses the pitch of the propellor and speeds up the engine, is ONLY allowed ON THE GROUND.
I don't know, but the last thing I'd want to see while I'm in a parachute is an aircraft with set of spinning knives flying anywhere near me.
Perfect Pilot PC-6. PERFECT!!!
"I don't need no stinking parachute"
Very Nice video. I love these planes. Hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST STOL capabilities. 👍👊
It was nice of that guy in the plane to hang around, incase anybody wanted to get back in.
I flew the PC6 for the US Army. We used the beta pitch often.
Passenger: I change my mind. I don't want to skydive today.
Pilot: Have it your way. (Goes into dive)
Passenger: FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...........

Beautiful vid, but wasted by a stupid music...
Вот же блин красиво!
Amazing!..fantastic footage. As a former jumper it makes me want to get my knees in the breeze again #sighs#
I used to Jump at Issaquah DZ in Washingtion and we had a PC-6. 11 grand in 10 minutes! And the plane would be on the ground before we landed.

Barcelona, Spain.

can anyone tell me the title and singer of both the songs used...they were great...awesome video as well
Unbelievable ! Great, and awesome !
Great video and a pleasure to watch, no heavy metal so no need to mute the sound, great songs too 10 / 10
Amazing...
Castellón!!!!
Beautiful "couple" must to feel good to descent togheter!
@SimjetAU first song is Breathe - ure midge
*Let the Sunshine In...*
Anybody know how the porter can do this safely while the VNE is only 140 knots? Are they slowing it down with beta?
I'm a dreamer too.
How is the plane diving so slow without flaps?

why nobody grab the tail? seems logical really...
Reverse thrust is approved for in flight use
