      @@King_K_Rool_ actually every rtx 40 series card reaches to a tdp of almost 110-115w so its literally the same thing even if nvidia marked it as tgp of 140w which shows in the nvidia control panel. for example the rtx 4060 in my acer predator helios neo 16 2023 laptop has 140w tgp but it reaches till 115w (i did benchmark tests and saw reviews too for every laptop which has a gpu from the rtx 40 series), cuz the rtx 4060 cards are 'power-efficient' as nvidia says.

    Great find as always. Keep in mind that your RTX A2000 is PCIe x16 generation 4 (16 Gbps), and the Intel Gen 10 is gen 3, (8Gbps) and only DDR4. The Dell Precision 3260 is a 12th gen i5 with DDR5 memory that is being sold as low as $600. Same case. A better deal is to find a system with a 11th gen Intel which has gen 4 memory. Keep in mind you have to make sure your riser is gen 4 certified. Don’t think you can get by with gen 3. I tried with two different riser cables, one of hight quality and even a 3cm PCB vertical riser - none worked until forced it to gen 3. PCIe 4th gen riser cables start at $40. I did get better results, especially after replacing the heat conductive foam with a copper shim plate. You can also change out the shunt resistor with a lower value to increase the 75W limit and solder a 12VDC power cable to a 12VDC source and ground to push A2000 further with MSI Afterburner. 8000 points in 3D Mark is doable without it exceed 80c.
    PS the foldable M6/RX6400 is almost done. Still working out the folding hinge design. 3D Mark graphics score of 3422 (sadly the n5150 CPU score was a piddly 1568). Still it beats the Ryzen 6900HX with over clocked DDR5 memory. To bad the company behind the M6 didn’t have the foresight to add to M.2 PCIe slots. In any case runs “Stray” 1080P, 60fps high settings and “Dead Space” 2023 at 1280P, 60fps at almost all high settings. More than enough to meet my limited gaming needs. Even better works great over Sunshine/Moonlight.

    As far as games go… it has been apparent that cyberpunk has been your main “stress tester” for your builds of late. I think a new one to add to that is Returnal, which has only recently been released on pc, loads of graphics options to tinker with, not many have tried to get it running on lower end systems (at least from what I’ve been able to find on CZcams so far as of this scribbling). I’d really like to see you try returnal on this, and any other builds in future videos!

    • @Blurredborderlines
      @Blurredborderlines Před 10 měsíci

      Returnal isn’t really much of a stress test unless you turn on RT at which point what are you trying to prove by comparing it to a non-Nvidia device? Even most mainline Nvidia GPU’s can’t properly run RT as it becomes overwhelmingly CPU bottlenecked unless you’re rocking a 4080 or higher.

      Can confirm. This was a Precision but Optiplex are similar in terms of durability. I'm using a 4th gen 3020 SFF to type this. Bought it refurbished over 3 years ago when it was off-lease and thus 3 years old already, and still running strong. Bought it with i5-4590 and 8GB, 320GB HDD. Upgraded it to 16GB, GT 1030, 240GB SSD (later upgraded to a 1TB SSD with DRAM cache), 4TB HDD, PCIe SATA host adapter so I could keep the DVD, NetGear A6100 USB WiFi, not necessarily in that order. Runs every game I've tried at least passably. Looking at an RX 6400 for it's "final" upgrade, unless I can also find an i7-4790 (or similar Xeon with iGPU for the QSV) for cheap.

    I built a similar rig with the A2000 6GB in the Precision 3460 Small Form Factor in March as well. The need to run at base clocks no turbo with a fan using an i5 12500 while still being *VERY* warm and throttling constantly was an annoyance of mine. The first strike was the rough stability situation in games with frame rates fluctuation even locked at 60fps in triple A and locked 120-165fps in e sports. It just could not perform consistently. The noise on the desk where such a machine would stay ended up being the final straw. I am holding out for 784X HS variant small form factors for the time being. The dream of Noctua 120mm 800-1200rpm levels of quality woosh sound in a small, but not tiny form factor especially under 100 watts load *Mwuuaah** perfecto. You have shown many a good option thus far. Currently rocking a 4600G in waiting.

    I am looking at building an "ultralight" pc for my bicycle camper...the motherboard from this would be a great candidate for the build. The a2000 is almost a shoe in if the budget is there...but i dont mind modifying other gpu with laptop style blower HSF assembly and low profile power connectors. The case will be custom...as little metal as possible, probably fiberglassed foam and plastic bits from my scrap case heap. I am even removing things like PSU housing and just mounting the PSU PCB inside the case. I have also been looking at laptop motherboards. Price is basically the determining factor when I go to order, but I will check into these motherboards as well. Or even a whole system and flipping the extra parts on ebay or something.

    This thermal paste replacement stuff is always fun in my eyes. Had a i5 3570k watercooled undervolted and overclocked running for 10 years with the same arctic silver 5 paste.
    When i removed it finally cause the watercooler had to go the paste was surely a bit goe but aside of that provided for 10 years the same temps.
    So i guess it´s not really that important unless you choose to go with the cheapest gunk you can find.

      Found an Core 2 duo E6850 with an MSI p7n diamond and with Asus Orbe cooler in the university storage today. Turn it on with an ssd and stress test it, didnt passed 55 degrees. When changed the paste (it was dry) it went to 53. So, they used a good one.

      @@DanielGT_93 Which is arguably even more impressive. As in my case the system was running pretty much daily for hours.
      In your case the system ran at one point and then the parts have been shelved for god knows how long with no heat applied i´d assume the effect on the paste would be even worse over the years. But 2 Degrees? That is within tolerance and/or duo to a bit better paste now being used.
      So in the end, changing paste is irrelevant, at least if you used proper paste to begin with.

    I would not recommend this series of dell desktops, I work in IT in a business that exclusively uses dell. I have recently had to pull every one of those precisions for crashing and overheating issues and replace them with standard sff optiplex models. If you get one, make sure it has good access to cool air and repasting the cpu is not a bad idea either. They also get very loud under load, sounds like a mini jet engine.
