- EPISODE #138
I'm off on a whirlwind 48 hour adventure to Murcia, Spain... just south of the cycling hotspot of Calpe, so you know the roads are going to be fantastic.
This trip was actually planned to go a celebrate my father in laws birthday, but I took the bike anyway for good measure and managed to squeeze in a ride. As per usual, things didn't go exactly to plan... but that's all part of the adventure. I'm glad I took my bike and enjoyed a ride in the sunshine regardless.

Mate, can’t tell you how much I appreciated you and Rachel turning up for my big day - big love ❤️
Tommy! Big fan for a while now, thanks to a reco from my good friend Matt Avignon. I just recently moved to Alicante Spain last July 2023, from Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA) chasing the cycling (gravel) dream. Relating with your move to Portugal, so hard. If you're around Alicante again some time, we should grab a napolitana and check out some of the local gravel together. The Trek store, which you know from your ride to Girona video, rents gravel bikes! Hit me up! Cheers!
another banger of a video. thanks! area looks really great. Love it how you were filming running through the airport too, gotta keep us updated! Totally agree too about finding the atypical cycling destinations
🥰🙏
Happy birthday rach’s dad x
Cool stuff 😎 👌
"carrying a little more timber than usual" had me lol. Great video man! Keep it up.
🤣🙏
I've started visiting Murcia annually now and even borrowed a bike whilst out there. Beautiful place. 🚴♂️🚴♂️ just need to move out there haha. Great video as ever brother..
Love the fall at the end. Making fun of yourself shows humility and confidence.
💯 on taking your bike everywhere you go if you can. Have taken pedals and shoes to the Greek islands and hired a bike as a last resort in the past
My go too geeza to watch when im taking an easy zwift ride defo gets rid of the boredom!
😁🙏
Thank you. Safe travels. And great to see you enjoying yourself with family. Oh and what a tool 😊
😁🙏🙏🙏
I’m from Kent and have a place in La Torre! Brilliant to see you in Murcia, it’s a beautiful part of Spain.
5:27 Thats actually quite inspiring philosophy for everyday life as well :)
Glad you enjoyed the trip.
🤣🙌
Murcia is great it’s where I live
Maap Kit looking on point Tom! 👌🔥 it’s time for me to start watching your old Majorca vlogs to get me motivated… 8weeks to go till I’m back!
I love that, who needs Garmin Climbpro to find a hill, just point your bike towards the closest mountain. You probably have a better chance of getting there than using Garmin's navigation.
Amen… Garmin is an useful as a chocolate teapot! 🤣🙈
Nice one man, enjoying the mix of cycling and life videos
Glad I watched this… We’re going away for a week tomorrow (only in the UK) and I’ve decided to follow your advice and take the bike 👍
Yes do it… exploring new places by bike is unbeatable! 😁🙌
10k of your CZcams family will be supporting you mate. Go get em!!!!!
Thanks for the uplifting video. Nice blue sky. Tbh we were on the mtbs wearing shorts yesterday 🥶. Sunny but cold. No sense no feeling lol. Fuerteventura next week 😊.
😁🙏🙏🙏
@@TheCyclingTattooist my mate an ex TDF rider in France Troyes sent me a simple message last week. 'Get the f##k out of there '. 🤣
I've managed to get an Irish passport so fuerteventura it is.
What a lovely video, thank you Thomas! Greetings from Hungary!
I think overall Spain has the best overall riding anywhere when you consider the roads, the cycling culture and weather. You just have to get used to the weird eating times 😄🚴
I’m just here to point out the UK is in Europe.
Technically not, we divorced lol
You were as out as being in could be, and the muppets still voted to leave. Le sigh
@@LukeHuyskens yeah was a joke. All this hassle cause of one very loud man and a silly pm bowing to pressure. Should never have happened
What year are you from?..
@@tomrachellesfirstdance7843there are 44 countries “in Europe” by conventional definition and only 27 “in the EU”. The EU is not Europe.
Great video. Glad to see you outside again.
🙌🙌🙌
Me and my son rode 12 days in that area back in August, 30-40 degrees in the mornings 🥵🥵🥵 love riding Spain
I love your style on your bike. 👌👍
🥰🙏
That green MAAP jersey is fire 🔥 Thomas
🙏
any ride in the sun is worth it short or long
i’ve never seen anybody ride as much as you do with no hands and looking at that rough mountain bike road I was surprised you didn’t hit a rut and go down. I’d like to know what bike carrier case you use for your trips? Again, super entertaining. Look forward to every video you do. Thank you.
I’ve had a lot of practice… 🤣
It’s the bike box Alan… highly recommend it, you won’t get better! 🙌
Can i get one of those FAAST stickers? bless my bike with speed
Quality video as always, I’m off to Gran Canaria at the end of March for a family holiday and was contemplating taking the bike but the extra luggage cost is gonna cost £90 plus the hire of a bike box for £25 so I’m looking at just hiring a bike for a few days
It’s worth it to be honest… having your own bike makes a massive difference! Hire bikes are set up to fit a broad array of body shapes… which means it’ll never fit you like your own.
I bought my own bike box the first holiday I ever went on and now I’ve definitely got my moneys worth… it’s a worth while investment.
@@TheCyclingTattooist oh man, now you have me thinking again 🤣
Put your clothes in carrier bags in the bike box, don’t need to pay for a suitcase then
Nice
Mind share what cycling travel case are you using?
La torre
It takes a special person to be late every time 😂
I’m going straight to hell! 🤣🙈
🎉🎉🎉
❤️
Martinez..no hablo espanhol? 😂🤏
I know… it’s embarrassing!
I always end up renting a bike abroad but would love to take my SL7 , do you ever worry about it getting damaged ? What box do you use ?
I always take my own bike for bike fit reasons as I’ve a few injuries that need looking after. I have a BBA bars-on/seatpost-on box (wheels and pedals off only) which is a game changer. Literally 5 mins and I’m ready to ride. Airline charges are the only issue as it’s £120 return with Ryanair and £70 I think easyJet in Europe.
@@88pedro888 great thanks for this, my biggest concern would be stripping the bike as I’m not the best on building back up ha , I can manage pedals and wheels tho
Decent bike box and youll be fine.
Id never rent a bike tbh.
And if it does get damaged, rent one as a back up, and then claim on insurance 👍
@@karl8805 Nice thanks , my biggest concern was all cables are integrated so wouldn’t want to remove handlebars etc , can see there is some out there where you can leave them on
No I’ve never worried once… get a decent bike box and it’ll be fine! Really recommend the “bike box Alan” as it’s a hard shell that’s really strong and it’s built to last… 😁👍
What camera do you film with on the bike?
Go pro most of the time… 👍
Was that you on the Guitar singing?
Hahaha nah man… I wish I could sing like that? I sound more like a bag of cats being swung around!
did u turn the hoods inwards on your emonda?
Yep! 👍
@@TheCyclingTattooist wanna try do the same looks class 😎
Hey hey, you don't need to be middle age to swing the clubs.
🤣🤣🤣 sorry!
