    As someone who's done these 1 life events (not this exact event, but with this group) there's a few important things to note:
    -No AI, every character is a player on both sides.
    -No reviving, if you get incapacitated a medic isn't allowed to revive you, you have to give up (hence the 1 life rule, otherwise you'd be able to play multiple lives if a medic picked you up). If you are injured but not incapacitated then a medic can heal you.
    -You cannot communicate in-game while dead, if you're in the Discord with everyone else you can unmute and talk to the other dead players.
    -Once Karmakut is dead and the top-down view is shown there's a few different symbols that can be seen. Blue is allied units, Red is enemy units. The triangle markers indicate players on foot, square markers indicate players in vehicles, camera markers indicate dead players who are spectating (these are in no way visible to live players). The bars occasionally seen on a person or vehicle indicate damage and show their health status.

    Hes not constantly talking on the radio by the way... in Squad, you’re talking on different channels. Blue: local chat, so everyone near you can hear you. Green: squad radio, only your squad can hear you. Gold: command Radio, only other squad leaders and the commander can hear you. Meaning he doesn’t constantly clutter up the radio channel, he’s talking here, then there, then on the third channel. Coordinating three channels like this without losing any critical information is pretty damn hard.

However people that don't have practice getting to the point like that tend to wander with their words and over-explain. For example instead of "Enemy bearing 185" a lot of people say "uhhhhhh..... There's a guy 185 to the right of that orange dumpster and to the left of that blue barrel." which yeah that's a better callout, but it's also way too many words when hearing is so important. Force on force. 50v50 tactical shooter. Each side has multiple squads and one one commander. Two channels of comms, one channel amongst all members of the squad you're in and another command channel where squad leaders communicate with each other and command. There's also friendly proximity chat. You're hearing all three here as Karmakut is either squad leading or commander. So not every player hears that much radio chatter. And there is no planning phase so they have to organize everything on the fly, which also means there will be more chatter. If you watch the competitive tournaments, those guys don't have to chatter as much because they're 50 guys who play together on the same team all the time. In this case, you're often getting thrown in with many (not all) guys you know, but its not always the same 50 man unit who you're practicing together with all the time, so a lot of comms are necessary. Also, I would love you guys to comment on Karmakut's videos of "Beyond The Wire". It runs on the same engine as Squad, also 50 v 50, but very different in that its set in WWI trench warfare.

    Karmakut is a good dude. Love his one-life events. Squad is only Op-for or force on force. No bots. In a One-Life event, there is no respawn or use of medics. If you're dead, you're dead. You are required to give up. And when you're dead, you can't communicate with anyone but other spectators. You guys should absolutely get into Squad.

  • @aRatherScottishChap
    @aRatherScottishChap Před 3 lety +47

    it's definately player vs player cos i remember being blown up by a grenade at 5:27 lol. Also in this 1 life event if you are incapacitated then you have to give up, leave your squad (karma didn't be cause he's squad leader) and go into spectate cam and watch the rest of the round, at that point you talk with the other dead players in discord.

    Squad is a pvp shooter in 50 v 50 maps (this is older footage, 40v40). This event uses some mods where you can pick different loadouts.
    If you see blue in the bottom left they are talking in local chat (just their voice, yelling basically)
    Green means squad comms over radio/walkie talkie or whatev
    Yellow/orange means hes talking to the other squad leaders.
    The squad leaders are the ones that can assign FTL's (fireteam leaders). They are like sub squad leaders who can place markers on the map to help out the squad leaders. The squadleader could for example send out his fireteam bravo to go do recon or something like that

    • @melle9155
      @melle9155 Před 3 lety +1

      In normal squad you can respawn on FOBs (player built bases) that are setup using trucks carrying materials (building supplies, called "build" and ammo) with build supplies you can build FOBS, MG positions, bunkers, sandbags, mortars, TOWs, etc. Infantry needs ammo to resupply their ammo, as respawns dont refill your ammo. Everything you fire is not automatically refilled, you need to do so manually on an ammo crate, which you need to keep topping up with supplies from your main base (base that cant be destroyed, your last hope basically)

    If you are hit, you need to use the emergency field dressing (israeli bandage) or you will loose vision, stamina, and life in general.
    When you start, you get 7 or so magazines. Every time you reload, you have that many bullets in the magazine. Not 120 bullets to reload 120- times like how call of duty and other FPS games do

    (Squad and Squad Ops player)So every player in that match is a real person. They split the teams up so it's even, usually now around 40 v 40 depends on how many people show up. The comms are split up into two channels and local chat. Gold is command chat where squad leaders and the commander can talk to each other. Green is squad chat so only the people in your squad can hear you, and blue is local so only people in your immediate area can hear you. A feature that might not have been in the game when this video was made is now you can route an individual channel to a specific ear to make it easier to distinguish channels as sometimes people will talk in the squad comms and command at the same time. This is also a modded version of Squad and has extra things in it that are not in the vanilla game.

      (Addition as the previous comment was written halfway through the video) in these events hosted by SquadOps, it is a one life event so once you go down you are done for the game. Once you are in the admin cam the guys alive can not hear you anymore. Also in the normal game, you can play infantry with different roles like an automatic rifleman, marksman, medic, grenadier, and other roles as needed. Also, you can play in armor that consists of everything from tanks to Infantry fighting Vehicles to Armored Personnel Carriers. There are also helicopter Pilots, the Americans get the black hawk, and the Russians and Middle Eastern alliance get the MI-8 and Mi-17 respectively. Finally, the commander who is a squad leader that is elected to lead the team every game gets assets, which depended on what faction you are but is usually consists of a drone for scouting, air support from a plane, and artillery.

    another thing to point out are the coms on the bottom left.
    blue means local chat as in if you were to speak normal anyone in your area can hear as if you were speaking, the further away you are, the quieter they are
    green - your squad of 9 guys radio. nobody aside from your squad can hear and your squad can hear no matter how far away they are
    orange- squad leader / command chat. only the squad leaders can hear this and speak in this (and command) and it’s how the squads can communicate with each other.

    It’s a 50 v 50 game. Each squad has 9 people an no bots. Also the thing about comms is you guys were also hearing command chat sometimes which is gold in the bottom left. Green is his squad and blue local (people around you in game). Most people don’t have that much radio chatter going on it’s usually all local talk but since karma is squad god he plays squad lead and constantly communicates.

  • @joitea5588
    @joitea5588 Před 3 lety +1

    With the comms, there is 3 different ‘channels’ ingame. You have SL’s that have radio comms with command and squad radio, then you have local chat which doesn’t use the radio, however each squad can communicate with the other

  • @Nasse83
    @Nasse83 Před 3 lety +1

    In Squad now you have 50 players to a team, split into max 9 man squads. Squad leaders can radio communicate with other squad leaders and their own squad, squad members can radio communicate within their own squad. Then there's talking to anyone within hearing distance.

  • @i2econ647
    @i2econ647 Před 3 lety +1

    All the coms is a mix between local talking, radio coms to squad and radio to other squad leaders. Where the voice lights up white in bottom left its local chat so only guys close by can hear you, green lit name is squad radio so your squad can hear you and orange is different squad leaders. It seems like a lot of talking but he communicating with his guys nearby and other squad leads.

    Some of Karmakuts tank gameplay videos for Hell Let Loose are quite good. Not modern, set in WW2, but 50v50 players, with the tanks crewed by 3 players each. Takes a bit of coordination.

  • @SemihG22
    @SemihG22 Před 3 lety

    In love with this game. Not only you can be in the front lines as an infantry with a particular kit and role in the squad but also you can drive tanks a 2, 3 or a 4 man squad (Driver, Gunner, Commander/Spotter, secondary gunner), pilot a helicopter and do troop transports, logistical work like supply drops, create small or big sized FOBs with TOWs, HMG emplacements, mortars, sandbags, wires etc...
    In most games there's a literal chain of command. A commander calling the shots, coordinating attacks, squad leaders managing their squads and making decisions, and infantry with different kits with specific roles. Each squad can report in enemy movements, vehicles, FOBs etc...
    Its pretty movie like too in terms of the actual stuff that happens. Like a LAV crews left tracks gets blown off and while they try to repair it, nearby squads provide cover fire or in a heli troop transport enemies blow the tail rotor and you go down spinning around trying to stabilize and land the damn thing. Its pretty epic.

    A lot of the communication is using Local chat - which is essentially just talking, non-radio.
    Visible bottom-left corner, gold is from being the squad lead and essentially a second radio limited to command and squad leads. Green is squad radio.
    Games make you more vocal, because you're limited in what you can do - hand gestures, touch, feeling someone leaning on you... and like you said, less prep. Also, where there's people who don't play as much together, saying "on me", "last"... based on proximity and knowing the voice don't work as well - need more descriptions.
    Enjoying the content!

    The One-Life events are force-on-force games organized by Karmakut's community, and you usually hear a lot of comms with him because he's most often in the commander role so he is hearing from all the squad leaders and everyone in his own squad. If you want to do some low-stress runs on Squad to get familiar, hmu brothers.

    In squad there are 3 tipes of vocal chat 1) the local chat that simulates the talking between two peoples with no radios (like you chat to someone near you)
    2) squad chat that is a radio chat to communicate to your squad what to do ( If you are squad leader)
    3) Commander chat that is used by the commander of the faction and the squad leaders to communicate between each other

  • @geraldimhof2875
    @geraldimhof2875 Před 3 lety +1

    For Jason and Patrick: So in Squad, you have 3 channels, local, squad and command. Local is your voice being carried out in a certain radius around you. So the source moves around with your character, and people around can hear what you're saying until a certain distance. Squad is a radio everyone in the squad can hear, and command is the comms between squad leaders and commander. Basically when Karmakut talks alot, it's in local channel, so he's giving instructions to his squad members in his immediate vicinity, like "there's a contact behind that wall, toss a nade over it". Also, since there's no hand gesture mechanics, you have to talk to give orders.
    What is true though, is that since there's no protocol and no training, people often abuse the channels and you have a constant chatter in your ears. Squad leaders suffer the most from it. Recently Squad introduced local and squad chat on one side of your headphone and command chat on the other side, so you can focus on one or the other which is pretty dope.

  • @upthepunxcollective7398

    The chat colors on the bottom left matter. Blue is local (the closer you are to that person the better you hear them), green is squad chat, and yellow if you're squad leader is command chat. FTL means fireteam lead. They can mark targets for their soldiers, as well as everyone else.

  • @solidsnake8961
    @solidsnake8961 Před 3 lety +1

    Its PVP there is no AI bots in this game yet. Also with the Radio comms if you look on the bottom left your Radio comms are divided by color Blue is Proximity Chat-only people withing 10-15m will hear you. Green is Squad chat- only your Squad will hear you. Gold- is command chat- only Squad leaders and the Command can hear. So there is three different comms this way the teams can be effective.

  • @AdiktdToLoli
    @AdiktdToLoli Před 3 lety +2

    @SAVAGE Actual in response to the chatter comment. actually in squad and for most military simulation games... they have multiple ways to communicate in game.. and one of those is local voice chat... it isnt radio chatter its like a simulated person to person voice.. at the lower left corner you will sometimes see names with colored text, that will signify if its local chat/squad chat(your group radio I.E. only your group can hear your chatter) and command chat(basically Squad leader only chatter)
    and the more you play squad the sooner you will notice the difference between the coms chatter and the local chatter since it will have radio effects added in.
    you could also change the volume of difference voice chatter so you can set which once come out the loudest.
