The most surprising thing was that Prime Minister John Major had an affair. As he appeared so bland, that his Spitting Image puppet was completely grey. 😆
More pees Norma?
Edwina currie egg Gate lol
No more peas Norma.
@@janolaful she was nicknamed 'Eggwina Curry'
I’d argue that they left out one of the biggest UK resignations of them alll… John Profumo. A tale with pretty much everything… high society, low society, drugs, espionage and yes, a significant amount of canoodling!!!
and the few that were sent to prison...i do believe that boris johnson is a Russian asset................
After JJLA did a Google on canoodle he was sold. I think it’s his new favourite word! 😅😅
The problem with canoodling in politics is 1, the hypocrisy because most of the time they are preaching to the public about decency and honesty etc, 2, if it's extra-marital canoodling they leave themselves open to possible blackmail. Fyi, the security clearance that employees need to work in government or sensitive positions is often more about how likely you are to be blackmailed rather than you being squeaky clean . If you are a liar and a cheat who is happy to admit such then you aren't as big a blackmail risk.
It wasn't explained very well in the video, but Jeremy Thorpe was put on trial for conspiracy and incitement to murder, the target being Norman Scott (not Scott's dog). That was the primary reason for his resignation, even if he was acquited, though yes the nature of the affair was no doubt a contributing factor at the time. Hugh Grant and Ben Wishaw did a great job telling the tale in A Very British Scandal in 2018.
To be fair, he did get off scott-free. He also had one thing in common with William the Conqueror.
Even though homosexuality was decriminalised in the late 60s, there was still a huge stigma in British society, I'd say until the 90s. Don't forget people like Elton John, Boy George and George Michael weren't out in the 80s. People were very cruel and judgemental. Being an out gay politician just wouldn't have happened back then.
That 6 inch line was pure comedy gold
I would have thought the Profumo affair would have been included - lots of canoodling call girls & Russian spies...
It was number one because it was alleged that Thorpe had paid to have his former gay lover murdered. Thorpe denied both the affair and the murder plot but was charged with conspiracy to murder. Thorpe and his co-defendants were acquitted as Scott and the other witnesses were not considered credible. Although the court case was after homosexuality was decriminalised the affair was alleged to have taken place while it was still criminal.
The judge’s summing up is the most bias piece of ‘impartially’ you will ever hear. Peter Cook did a great job satirising it.
If you want to see a dramatisation of this, watch A Very British Scandal, a miniseries starring Hugh Grant as Jeremy Thorpe and Ben Wishaw as Norman Scott.
The video of Hancock's "canoodling" immediately became a meme. Of course, people were angry about his breaking of the Covid laws (that he had implemented as Secretary for Health) and the extra-marital affair, but also because of how awkward the embrace was.
It did raise serious questions about how the Newspaper got that video though, with a review of security around surveillance in Government buildings
At least we got to make him eat kangaroo bits
My dad used to work as a croupier at the Claremont casino where Lord Lucan used to gamble.
Jeremy Thorpe was put on trial for attempted murder it was the biggest trial around eventually he was found not guilty. There is a really good drama about it with Hugh Grant as Jeremey Thorpe
Take a shot everytime he says 'canoodle' 🥴🥴🥴
Druml noe 😂
I messed up now😂
When I have the time I am going to watch this again just to count how many times you said the word canoodle! 😂😂😂
It wasn't in public. It was in his own office!
True and as such there should not have been any cameras.
But it is a public building.
Lets be fair, he couldn't really take her home, or go back to her place, or even get a room, there were Covid restrictions after all.
Just a note about Cameron, the book was a biography, not an autobiography.
You should react to the British political comedy show “the thick of it” gives you a good taste of British humour and ironically though it was meant at satirical comedy a lot of the things that occured in the show have happened in real life lol.
Our politicians are very far from perfect in most parties, but we do tend to try and hold them to a higher standard than in the states for example.
A Very English Scandal - biopic BBC TV miniseries of the Thorpe Affair with Hugh Grant as Thorpe and Ben Whishaw as Scott.
All Edwina was basically saying - 'There's salmonella in chicken and eggs, so you need to cook them through'.
No yellow or purple parties here. Yellow and purple are the colours of the Minster Raving Loony Party.
_"Canoodli--do-do...!"_ Word of the day !
He loves the word I guess😂😂😂
Billy Connolly used to sing a song John Stonehouse went swimming
You could probably fill the whole list with Tories from the last 14 years
And make it a top 100 rather than top 10.
You could probably fill the whole list with Tories from the last 14 days. They're jumping ship like rats.
No one was a bigger embarrassment to us than Truss though. Shortest stint as Prime Minister of anyone who didn't die in office, and destroyed the economy in 2 weeks essentially.
@@irreverend_Worse than a lettuce
I think Robert Maxwell was a bigger scandal than anything. How many thousand people did he impoverish by stealing their pension fund? He was a Labour MP BTW.
Politicians are people too!
'Scotland Lard' is probably more apt tbh
It is noticeable that many but not all of these MPs were Conservative? It brings to my mind the question of what the link is between political allegiance and the facility for a proclivity to voyeurism and unfaithfulness is?
Canoodling is rife in UK politics.
I haven't canoodled in a while, maybe I should stand for local government
I would have thought that John Profumo would have figured in the list.
Boris Johnson's resignation was definitely the most welcome one, closely followed by Matt Hancock.
Canoodling is a great word 😂 I haven't heard it for ages, i'm going to have to start using it again. My husband is coming home from work soon, I'm going to give him a canoodle 😀
Your reactions are so funny.... Love watching your vids man, keep em coming. Fan from North Yorkshire here😁😆😁
Read about Lord Lucan as well. He also faked his death, and has never been found.
AND his grandfather lead the charge of the light brigade!
imaging Trump been a British politician lol, he,d of been exiled and now renting napoleons gaff in St Helena
Your comments were hilarious 😂 I loved watching this reaction. "Canoodling stop canoodling" "6" Oh a scar I thought I was going to have to stop there" 😅 Thank you for this x
Suggest watching the film about the Thorpe affair called ‘A Very English Scandal’ with Ben Whishaw & Hugh Grant.
The British take the view that if your own wife or partner cannot trust you, then how can you expect the electorate to trust you? Once the trust has gone then so are you.
Watch the cctv of Hancock canoodling..you'll understand why it's so offensive 😅 especially during a global pandemic
Jeremy Thorpe was accused of hiring a man to shoot Scott a very serious offence. That's why he had to go.
Lobbying shouldn’t be prohibited but the transactional element should be. Lobbying in its purest sense is necessary as it gives varying perspectives on things that fall under governmental purview, its the fact that the lobbyists are able to try and promote their interest via money, gifts and favours that makes it unethical. If you remove that element, it is just providing information from the viewpoint of interested parties. Which is essential.
I guess you like the word canoodling 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Canned noddles only 😅😅😅
Class dominator tractors are my go-to also... 😉
😂
Notice they all Tories (right) 😂😂😂. I never realised ‘canoodling ‘ sounded so weird till today 😂😂
Is that Rachel Johnson Boris's sister behind the speeker in the white top In "mass exodus "?
yip
JJ is a wee bit enamoured with the word Canoodling, he's like a kid who has just learnt how to ride his bike hands free
Wot! No Jeffrey Archer! He ended up in Prison!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Archer
A fantasist, author, perjurer, petty thief etc. etc... etc...
and ... canoodler. Obvs.
Yes..Lucan appears more canoodleable.
Neil Parrish was more the ridiculousness of tractors that brought him down.
I have always felt bad for John Major's wife. Many women are cheated on and it is often public, but very few have a whole country gaining respect for her husband for doing so. We really didn't think he had it in him.
There are so many more scandalous and salacious stories than this chap listed.
Peter Viggers...misappropriated public funds for 'expenses' and built a duck house on an island in a pond in his garden.
TBF Viggers only wanted the funds; the claim was turned down
The lack of reaction at PM John Major, as the canoodler of Edwina Curry. PM stands for Prime Minister (of Parliament), the head of the country! Rumours at the time suggested he was sleeping with the dinner lady instead!
People were just in disbelief that John Major could have an affair - he had a reputation for being very boring (“the only person to run away from a circus to become an accountant”, as he came from a family of entertainers).
At least they resigned, it is not part of the ethic culture in the US.
If those rebel MPs had called their party 'The Canoodle Group' they'd be in power now.
You gotta look up the Matt Hancock affair picture/video it’s so funny how obvious they made it 😂
2:24 Tim Farron, if you ever spoke to him, was very pro-LGBT rights. The issue came because he also happened to be an evengelical Chrisitian, and people couldn't distinguish personal religion from his actual actions.
He activiely voted in favour of same-sex marriage, whereas quite a lot of other MPs chose not to vote or actively voted against LGBbT rights.
How is Liz truss not in the top 10?
They blinked and missed her time as PM ?
@@speleokeir She was rumoured to have canoodled too. 🥴
They looked at someone called Lizzie O'Leary and didn't realise it was actually her !
Yes, we have a lot of Canodular politicians, in both Houses of Parliament.
No mention of John Profumo?? 🤔 Typical Mojo 🤦
Johnson was probably not a good choice, but it's insulting to compare him with Trump. Johnson hasn't gone bankrupt several times, and he actually understands politics. Very intentional public image, so I i wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, but Trump is by far more corrupt and intrinsically inept. So good luck with that in your next election.
people in glass houses throwing bricks FTW. have you seen how shiite starmer and sunak are??
@@malcomflibbleghast8140 And still somehow less incompetent than Trump. Now if you were talking about Liz Truss on the other hand.... yeah she's worse.
Johnson was known for being economical with the truth but he was the only conservative contestant to say he would get Brexit done , the trouble was after getting Brexit done ish he spent more time getting his new wife pregnant than running the country 😂😂
@@lawrenceglaister4364 True. Aside from the last part however, I'm not sure I can think of any high up politician who wasn't a bit economical with the truth. I mean hell, it's not something many people remember, but Tony Blair has publicly admitted that he knew Iraq didn't have WMDs and would've found another reason to invade... so that's a bit economical with the truth. It would be nice to have a leader who just didn't fuck the country or another country really
Yeah it’s a lazy comparison because they’re both on the right and have stupid hair. But Johnson and trump are very different men, very different politicians with very different politics.
Trump is entirely transactional and mostly driven by personal considerations rather than any kind of guiding vision or ideology.
Johnson has some principles - Ukraine is a good example of the difference between the two men. Johnson’s problem is he isn’t one for details and reliability. So he’s a talented campaigner but not a competent governor.
I'm not sure why this list is 'ridiculous reasons' people resigned.
They mainly had to resign because they fell short of the standards we are entitled to expect of those in public office. (Not that in practice we actually have had particularly high expectations of politicians over recent years)
I think you missed the point on Jeremy Thorpe. He was accused of ORDERING THE ASSASSINATION of his ex lover. THAT was the main issue- though of course in the court of public opinion at the time, the fact that he had a gay lover added to the scandal, even though it was no longer illegal.
In general the reason they resigned is because they were caught.
We can forgive the canoodling, but Spying!
I have to ask... do you deliberately speak like Bob Ross or are you just naturally the second most chilled person to listen to in the world?
We wish we'd never heard of Matt Hancock, too.
I have known Tim Farron for years. He is a good man, honest and a wonderful local MP. He is entitled to his own opinions. It is known as free speech. He was hounded out of the leadership by a set of people who are not fit to be in the same room with him.
Whilst I don't disagree with you I don't think he was a very good Lib Dem leader. Probably a good constituency MP, seemed like a good guy, but that doesn't really mean you'll be a good leader. He's still an MP isn't he so it's not like he's been hounded out of parliament or even out of the party. I found it odd that he's on this list mind you, there are a lot more Tory MPs that had to resign in disgrace and even Labour ones so I don't see this being that bad compared to these.
Go Edwina! Healthwise, but John Major! John Major! Compared to today's Tories, she is a Saint.
Ed's Wiener 😂
canoodling canoodling canoodling canoodling canoodling canoodling canoodling canoodling canoodling
Egwina
What did Johnson do? Lie. Lie. Lie. Repeat ad infinitum.
🤣🤣
Tories are the second closest to republicans, farage and reform are probably the closest.
czcams.com/video/Rp1n7tzFCCE/video.html although CZcams doesn't like you linking to other CZcams videos in comments, so I imagine this will be deleted. But yeah, Jonathan Pie if you want to get a nice (slightly left biased) satirical view on what's happening here right now.
Why's it always Mojo? Getting boring. Awful content.
" And God created MAN in his own image" ! Not a gender neutral "whatever" !!
prove he/she exists and then come back to me.
