此段歷史，三百多年來因為當權者的政治意圖，真相已被混淆扭曲，今人能夠去關注的，畢竟是極少數，大多以訛傳鵝，不識忠奸，真是可笑至極。

對於這內容說吳三桂錯誤決策，要求清軍從山海關南北夾擊李自成，這是有疑問的。因為原來的方案是要清軍從以前入侵關內的老路線，由喜峰口入關，吳則由山海關出兵回師北京城。這段要求清軍由山海關進關的說法，其實是清朝竄改史實，當時多爾袞係聽大漢奸大學士范文程建議，直進山海關，待吳三桂與李自成山海關大戰不支時，再要協開關助其入關。
所以，一切都是形勢比人強的結果。
