      I would have never played volleyball if i didnt fail trying out for dance and cheer. I saw a flyer and wanted to try something new going into middle school. I tried out and I made it, i fell in love with volleyball and I've been playing for 4 years now😁

      I hope that his knee will be doing well in the future, when he get older. Extremely intensive training and competition may severely harm his right knees if he keeps landing that way.

      He would go further and much stronger if he was 2m tall. He is quite short for volleyball compared to other players. Well Asians are generally small. Currently his achievement is purely his hard work.

    As someone who was a competitive athlete and got a knee injury I'm very worried for his right knee, seeing how high he jumps and then lands mostly on his right leg and a lot of times without fully absorbing the impact

      ​@@adamya1639 Sure, the courts are shock absorbing - but I've also been coached to land on both feet when possible over 10+ years of competitive volleyball (to reduce the risk of ACL damage). Nishida is a phenomenal athlete, and it would be a huge shame if his career is affected or cut short by any preventable injuries

      most of all athlete is retired early with somekind of injury. you can see also in the NBA. many stars athlete always struggling with some kind of long lasting or an injury that keep come and go. they've really pushed the limit too far, and their body cant really handle that much stress...

    1:09. You can clearly see how short Nishida really is, compared to other counterparts. To make up for his short advantages, he has worked extra hard, harder than other people, to be a very powerful volleyball player. Japanese people are just super breed.

    Never seen calf muscle development like that before!!! No wonder Yugi can jump so high!!! Incredible dedication to volleyball as well as super body sculpting!!!     Can I just say, Nishida looks short when he's standing beside the person from the opposite team. But when he's spiking and in the air, he towers over them. Absolute legend.

      I became fan of Japan Volleyball team after watching Haikyuu. To be honest, Japan team is so popular. You can see it through every match that include Japan Volleyball Team on youtube, they got so many view and comment compared to other teams. Way to go Japan. Gambatteiii in Olympic Tokyo.

      Sadly he won't become number 1. He's too short. That's unfortunate. Maybe one day newer Japanese people will be taller. It's getting there. I know Nishida must've worked so hard to make up for his height disadvantages. And thats why he is a legend.

    I just noticed Nishida has a unique jumping posture.
    Usually we jump with both arms swinging upwards, but Nishida only uses one. Also, when spiking, rather than swinging from up to down, he swings backwards and then slam down, it's like he's swimming in air.

      @Caiman Araújo still I would prefer the typical bow and arrow swing, so I can make use of both arms' momentum to bring myself upwards.
      I think Nishida only uses one and that's enough for him, and by doing the way he does, he's sort of "hiding" his palm so the receivers have harder time to predict where his palm is facing.

    his jump isn’t all about the muscle it’s about the technique and how long he has learnt new extents to the technique and you will notice that he reaches as high as his hands can go and use his legs to keep the momentum going and swings as hard as he can giving him a great jump
