At 56 my only motivation for cutting wood is for offsetting the heating bill first, and exercise. Exercise should actually be the number one reason though. Lol
This year is the 1st year (ever) for me that some are asking for half cord. Up to this point it has only been full cord loads.. So far I have been busy earlier, I even have a few repeat customers too..
We bought a used processor (Cord King 18-20) about 5 years into starting our business and it paid itself within a couple of years. The difference between my experience and the guy you referred in your clip was that I had the customers to grow the business. The other expense that came with the processor was the tractor that I needed to load the logs onto the processor table. I agree that we are in the service business. We always make sure that our customers feel part of our family. Thanks for sharing valuable information my friend.
Cory seems like he has the same views on selling firewood as I do. When you still have a full time physically demanding job I have to keep the firewood fun! Start slow and invest back into the hustle until you can get toys to make it easier and less of a job🤣👍🏻👍🏻GNI
I'm thinking about doing what Anthony from Ontario firewood resource is doing and haul trash and scrap and have firewood on the side. I'll be purchasing a sawmill and a splitter soon after I start dealing with wood.
Good morning everyone. Hey Chris I finally got a 24 inch bar for my echo CS 7310 p. I was running a 28-in bar. The 7310 pulls 24 inch bar just fine. I can run longer without the fatigue that longer bar.
G’morning Chris! Who is that guy ??Another great show today. Video came out faster than you thought ! Nice to see. GoodNightIrene GREAT banjo tune by the way !!!!
I hate working outside in temps colder than the teens. Will do firewood in temps lower than the teens on the grounds it helps keep me in shape for the warmer teens and 20s.
Just come back from the wood with a trailer load behind the tractor. Had to use the ms500i to make the pieces manageable. However got a good workout. Now leavingb the stack to dry before putting them through the processor. Still waiting for my 592xpg here in UK.
@@thefirewooddoctor when you get tree service wood or need to noodle logs you needs that 70cc saw for personal firewood I wouldn't buy nothing under 70cc can do it all
Looking back I should've built more inventory before opening my roadside stand. This spring is not looking good for campfires early in the season, which isn't too bad. Gives me a chance to build good inventory before sales go bonkers for the season.
@@InTheWoodyard, I've got several cords cut, need to get splitting so it can dry properly! Only so much time on the weekends with a job that has me gone 5 days a week. Saving up for a good splitter that can do three cords a day. Goal is to buck three cords early on Saturday day, then the rest of it splitting and stacking! Then start it over again on Sunday!
Best advice I've heard is let it take time to make a good decision on buying equipment. Am looking at resale value, features, the fine details, my wants and needs, and weighing all that against price (bang for the buck). With all that in mind, better to go smaller and cheaper with equipment and having to upgrade sooner than expected or have equipment that is a little bit bigger/more productive than what you need? (Tractors excluded)
@@jakebredthauer5100, is sad. Either have to be small and efficient or huge and profitable. The in-between size farmers seem to get hurt the most. That's my impression of farming.
Yes, I did a video about that about a year ago! One face ford is 1/3 of a full cord....a row of 16" pieces stacked to measure 4'x8' and 3 of those is a full cord....4'x4'x8'
I'm in Poynette Wi, Where are you located and how far is it reasonable to deliver? I'm currently getting a strong cord of oak and mixed hard wood locally For about $350 delivered not seasoned or stacked. Is that a fair price?
Jason, I went to your channel to see how to make better videos because I have only made 600 or so over the last couple years and I have a lot to learn but I noticed you do not have any videos on it do you have another one I should see? Thanks for watching!
It’s always fun to meet good people that’s not scared of work. Way much more in common than anticipated.
Thanks Harold!

Another great discussion from the wood pile "In the woodyard " See you fellas tomorrow morning GNI
Thanks Mike!
This was a great video. thank you for sharing. the log hog
Thanks for coming on down Bob!
Hey way to make the trip Corey! If I recall there's a video in the deep depths of CZcams where coreboy demonstrated how to use a log splitter!
That’s a classic video !

Yup, good points!
Excellent discussion, guys! I really appreciate the content here. With only one season under our belts selling firewood, I'm learning a lot! 👍
Thanks!
Great interview with Corey! Starting small is how i started. Just reinvested back into my business for equipment.
Fantastic! You are correct!

Yes, good call !!
Good talk .
Thanks!
This video is why I do as Chris says and watch past episodes. Corey might be a brother from another mother because you two click well together.
Yup, he is here every day commenting!
The worst part about doing a limit supply like your new best friend...Is the sad puppy eyes of customers when it is all gone till next year!😪
HAAAA!
Good discussion. 👍
Thanks DAN!
Good to see a fellow echo owner (inherited). Only saw I have bought is a husky. Love to see it gentleman
Soon you will!
Chris great discussion. Looking forward to seeing that 7310. Take care, Ben.
Thanks Ben!
Another new recruit, seems like a nice guy. Did you have your wooden plaques at this time.
Yes, he did get one!

Both are nice saws!
Great to see you run a CS7310P and give an opinion. I'd like to step up to a bigger saw, 70cc, just can't justify the cost right now. Have a Safe Day
You will see it soon!
For personal firewood is hard to justify the cost of a 70cc class pro saw. Upgrade only when necessary or the old saw blows up. That's my opinion.

@@tylercritelli587, true, much of the tree service wood is fairly large. 8-10 cords a year is where I'd be looking at a 70cc pro saw too.
I’m near a city and we deliver equipment. $100/10 miles and $5/mile after that one way.

About one.
Chris, it's Springtime in the Great Banana Belt (Central Texas). LOL!

Another great video Chris! Wondering if we’ll get to see you to at the “Firewood Frenzy”? in June?

Can you give an explanation on cords/face cords?
Yes, I did a video about that about a year ago! One face ford is 1/3 of a full cord....a row of 16" pieces stacked to measure 4'x8' and 3 of those is a full cord....4'x4'x8'
I use my firewood money to buy my chainsaws gasoline for everything. Here at the woodyard
Thanks!
That’s not a face cord you sold the guy. You would have had to stack it neatly to get a face cord in a short box truck
You are correct, it WAS MORE!
Why does he not like boxelder or cottonwood?
It burns pretty fast and cottonwood does not keep well.
