  • Deepak Chopra's short address at the SAND17 conference is notable for its clarity, warmth and realism - and for its opening video and closing audio. The sincerity of his plea to the audience also made an impact: Please wake up, because the dream has turned into a nightmare. The presentation ends with a short meditation to become aware of that which is listening, and a recording of a song that George Harrison gave to Deepak on the way to London Airport in 1988.

I am a hospice nurse and have been at the deathbed of many at their moment of death. As the spirit ( consciousness) is released from the physical body ,there is an other worldly light and energy that emanates and radiates out from the deceased , filling the whole room with what I can only described as peace, serenity and an all encompassing love. It touches all my senses and my heart that I instinctually bow my head in reverence. It happens so often that I know it is real and it is sacred. The non-believer in their fear will denied and dismiss this experience as delusion . For me, it is grace and a blessed final departure gift my patients gave me which I am forever grateful for.

George Harrison's body of solo work is astounding - meaningful, spiritual and always uplifting. In 50, 75, 100 years from now, it will be Harrison's work that future generations will be familiar with. His final album Brainwashed is breathtaking, his finest work. If you haven't listened to it from begining to end I encourage you to do so. You will not be disappointed.

In an interview with George Harrison's wife, she told of when George passed on, the room lit up.

George was here for a moment, like anyone of us. His obsession was to open the door for you and I. Look into his life and set yourself free from the world.

Without George's guidance within pop culture I don't know who I'd be now but I know the journey that he helped me towards which has saved my life

George inspired me to value the essential in this life: Love and this Universe. I miss him , his smile , his words. He changed into someone better. I love him so.

It's only chaos and violence if that's what we focus on. The more we focus on unity, peace and gratitude, the more we help the world become more peaceful.

Now we will all listen to George Harrison's words and music from a new and enlightened perspective! As I have done for a very long time; George Harrison was much more than a musician!

This is why I love George Harrison’s music, and him as a person. He was so in tuned with what it means to be alive, and our search for a deeper sense of purpose and where we’re ultimately headed.

In 1969 the sun rose in my mind as I was waking up. It said "it's time to meditate." I didn't know what meditation was, but within a week I found a teacher at the Temple of Silence in raja yoga, the yoga of meditation. This inner sun spoke to me without sound. It was just like the sun rising, a great light, and some part of me knew what it was and understood.

What a peaceful beautiful soul. You left us too soon. Thank you for your music, your love, your inner self. Dear George, in my mind and heart forever.

This Harrison song was an enormous help to me before and after my heart transplant! It still brings tears to my eyes... I was almost a statistic inside a doctor’s case... I’m eternally in the debt of the friend who gave me this CD when I was potentially on my deathbed! To say I love this song is a gross understatement!

George became a strong believer in Krishna and Krishna consciousness. He helped the Hare Krishna movement in many ways. Many of his songs even on his early albums, like ALL THINGS MUST PASS and LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD, are based on the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita. George produced and recorded the first record by a group of Hare Krishnas which immediately went to no.1 and was selling out in England and Europe ('69 &'70) for many months. During his last days he invited his 3 best friends from the Krishna movement, Mukunda, Shyamasundara, and Gurudas to spend time with him singing Hare Krishna and to be there during his final moments. Remember how he wrote a song on one of his early albums called THE ART OF DYING and many years later he was doing just that. So his life and his dying were all very spiritually focused. That is really quite a feat when you are so famous and so wealthy. Deepak is quoting Lord Krishna but he explains it wrongly because Krishna never says that YOU are the UNIVERSE. Read the Bhagavad Gita for yourself and understand this great philosophy of life and the universe.
