I rotate the tool a quarter turn 4 times to get the grease complete around the bearing.

Great video brother, knocking out this job before heading out to Pismo next week. Thanks for posting the torque specs. Appreciate it!

@@desertnerd4353 Update! After removing the hub and inserting the tool in my rear passenger tire the tool became stuck in the seam between the two bearing halves. After about 45 minutes of work, and a lot of cussing, I removed the knuckle, removed the c clip removed the outside half of the bearing, pulled the o-ring off the tool and removed the tool from the bearing half. Upon removal it appears as if the supplied o-ring presented too much play and was getting pinched on the bearing split. I will get a different, better o-ring and continue on with the other bearings at a later date.
Be aware of the o-ring on the tool and make sure it is correct!

I did notice the o-ring was a bit loose. Thanks for the heads up.

Good thing you can do this stuff yourself! I assume this is maintenance that everybody should do, but doesn't do.

they are not "seals" per say they are just dust covers they will not prevent grease from escaping or water from getting in , so pump until you flush all old grease and contamination out .

Thanks for the recommendation. I've actually not greased the bearings since this video. I live in SoCal and majority of my riding is in the desert so little to no water or mud. Good tool just not getting much use of it now.

One thing I noticed is you didn't purge the grease tool with grease to purge the air out first. You basically it looks like didn't even get grease to the bearing. Sorry man but I've looked at the vids of other guys doing this and you will see where to look for grease exiting the bearings. Other than that I love the added torque specs and overall filming of this nicely done!

Yes every grease fitting u keep.greasing it till it starts to.ooze out

    • @desertnerd4353

Problem with sealed bearings is its a fine line before you blow the seal out if you go until you see grease. If you pump grease until you see grease you could damage the seals. Gun was purged before video and it wasn't a new grease tube. All good points though, thanks for watching.

@@desertnerd4353 I was referring to the actual wheel bearing tool. And yes they say pump slow so you don't cross that fine line as you say. These bearings are not cheap especially some of the name brands. Thank you for the reply! Thumbs up!!!

That was my though too. With a new grease tool i would think you would need to purge the tool first or you risk filling the tool with grease and not your bearings. Otherwise great video 👍🏼

@@desertnerd4353 they are not "seals" per say they are just dust covers they will not prevent grease from escaping or water from getting in , so pump until you flush all old grease and contamination out . if there is grit and water and metal wear particles in there witch I guarantee there is. , ya want to flush it out as mentioned do 5-6 pumps then remove tool and reinsert it 90 degrees do 5-6 more pumps keep doing this until grease exits bearing evenly

Good video man. One tip wear latex gloves that brake clean is extremely bad to get on your hands. 🤗

I use the non chlorinated kind, not much better but a little. Thanks for the tip!

No sir, in fact our RZR didn't get washed after the last 2 trips. I usually give it a good clean after 2 trips depending on its condition. I try to keep all wear parts clean as possible to extend service life.
