I3 is a dual core processor which is mainly made for office workers, coders , and for doing light weight stuffs.
I5 is for those who want to do little bit heavy tasks and run other os on their pc.
I7 is for those who edit videos and play modern games on their pc.
But if you are kind of person that wants to edit videos and to perform heavy tasks on their laptops then AMD ryzen is better for u. And for gaming too its good but not like intel in terms of laptops. but the 5000 series would beat intel easily in everything but they will cost you more so go with 4000 series if you do gaming and heavy work loads. They are similar to intel but they offer more core count and better value for money. As a gamer i would definitely suggest you to go with AMD.
