- This is my latest project, a working computer keyboard custom built using LEGO pieces. The internal sensor pad and circuit board were taken from an old generic computer keyboard.

This should be an official lego kit. It would get my money!
Same, I just don't wanna break my keyboard and hope that I do it right. Cuz if I don't I'm screwed! 😂😂😂
Agree, although I suspect my brother and my son would love to build one...
it's so easy... just take out the screws on the controller and the case.
yup
Also at the price they would sell this you could get a good mechanical keyboard.
The caps lock key is utter genius
Tyler Ellis lmao just realised the joke
Tyler Warren Ellis
OHH NOW I GET IT LMAOOo
Because he used a CAP for the CAPS key, Big brain
*CAP lock
Imagine getting clapped by a guy with a lego keyboard
You couldnt imagine...
The gonk droid is unbeatable
Gonk droid COOLER AQUA! Shit on!

LMAO
Heh...Jk brickworks...he’s already taken...and he’s cracked at Fortnite my guy
imagine if it was mechanical
boy, do i have the news for you
He did it, see this video:
czcams.com/video/2jP6MFBXFaA/video.html
It honestly wouldn't be much harder at all. It may actually be easier.
@@mrgergos Still. The next step is creating keyboard that uses switches build with lego.
And four years later boi he makes one
when you get angry at a game and smash your keyboard you can just rebuild it
armymanscott good idea
But still taking some time..
armymanscott 69th like
As long as the internals, or the legos themselves don't break.
nice
This is the only video I've seen where talking to your viewers in notepad is actually appropriate.
He was testing the keyboard, BOI
+AquaYT Yup! You're right. I have a feeling you didn't read my comment.
ZephaniahNoah Gaming most mature response I've seen on CZcams today.
honestly though
Video Creator: "Why isnt this getting recommended?"
2020 YT: "We should recommend this 6 years later"
kkkk, vdd
I actually found this video because I was looking for keyboards with built-in PCS
Next thing he’s gonna make is a lego computer
You should watch Druaga1.
My latest project - a working computer keyboard built using LEGO bricks!
Habt ihr Baupläne wie man des bauen kann. Finde das Teil ziemlich cool und würde des auch gerne bauen????
Why windows xp
david guo that isnt windows xp kek
Cool I love it so much that I want to try it on my keyboard too.
fr0zeN It is XP
best gaming keyboard it beats razor and coarsair
Razer*
+Shayam Kadim Nah it's a membrane keyboard it sucks.
+주창하 nope, Razor, its a model of coarsair and a scooter company
maybe, but razor might be mad so they will do a hovering keyboard that's worth 1000 dollars

-you can build anything out of lego!
Me
-huh try to make a mechanical keyboard.
he did lol
r/antimeme
Someone made a house of lego
@@user-et9eq4mg3sYeah i knew that. It's crazy.
amarogz The saddest thing is that he had to destroy this house
I love how the caps lock key has a cap on it
Holy shit! when he corrected it from "Legos" to "Lego bricks". That is the best part of this video.
i knew that would happen.
!
true
This popped up when I searched up “best inexpensive keyboards”
Maybe it’s expensive
It's so epic to see people doing amazing and creative things like this with everyone's favorite toy!
How is it our favorite toy if it stabs out poor feet and teos
@@kelvinagbobe6117 wtf are teos
@jesep I meant toes
This keyboard is better, than my keyboard

I like how the Escape key is a person running from a T-Rex XD
How did you notice that
@@rugerprice4428 rofl I don't even know. I've never even seen that piece otherwise. I don't even remember watching this video! xD
This is great : )
It might have been easier to use a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches and just take the key caps off, since the mechanical keyboard switches are much more stable than these rubber domes.
Oh wow! I remember M-tron, those sets introduced the red and green space visors.
I usually complement people by their awesome work. but right now, I'm speechless
Could you make lego keycaps for a mechanical keyboard?
Malos Alo Someday I hope to revisit this project using a mechanical keyboard base, so maybe. I'm pretty sure someone has 3D printer models for LEGO compatible mechanical keycaps already. Might have to do some googling.
JK Brickworks Oh yes, please do; /r/mechanicalkeyboards would go wild!
What a great job, well done! Looks amazing and I can't imagine it ever getting old, again well done!
I just love the way he clicks it,It’s so satisfying
I respect this guy for correcting himself. LEGOS do not exist.
if you are willing to do all that, why not build it with mechanical switches?
you still need the controller unit of the keybord to convert the analog signals into digital signals
Modern mechanical keyboards are digital, most use the USB interface. It would probably be even easier, since there's lots of DIY kits out there for mechanical keyboards.
If you can find a way to integrate Lego pieces with mechanical switches, go right ahead
***** Nope. Made this thing in Paint like 3 years ago.
he can use mechanical keycaps with it lmao
Excellent job! I really like improvisation on keys, especially on home button. :) Great work!
perfect replacement of my razer keyboard
I love it great job! The Windows key and Caps Lock are my favourite for some reason lol.
Sweet!!! Do you have a ReBrickable list for this build? I would love to hack one of these for myself!
+バートレット理路 Sorry, no, I never even put together a parts list or anything for it before taking it apart.
+JK Brickworks Not sure if it's worth your time to sell a list...
+バートレット理路 It will depend on your keyboard layout anyway... I think I'm gonna make this one :)
+バートレット理路 10/10 would totally put a wheel on the W, A, S, D keys and arrow keys
+JK Brickworks How long did it take you to make it?It is one of the greatest lego utensils I have seen on the Internet so well done. :D
that may be the greatest keyboard ever build
imagine if the tiles were gone and it was ordinary plates... that would be the best thing to stand on
!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll take your entire stock
Just remember that the KEY to building this is patience
If I had the bricks to built this.. I would
i think i can build a moc
buy some Legos from eBay
I`d pay you to build one for me too.
If I had the bricks I'd be smoking them.
(not talking about pot)
***** I have a polandball with the Danish one as my avatar, that does not make me a fan? :P
I love how you have your taskbar themed with RetroBar! Same on my pc :)
OMFG EPIC! I WANT IT TOO! it is little bit harder to find some keys like: Home,End,Delete,Insert and others but it is undestroyable! when key get out you put it back! AMAZING!
Amazing... the first Keyboard with Lego-MX Switches
Can you build a mechanical one? ♡
Mechanical? As I'm not well versed in keyboards can you explain to me what you mean by that.
+Atomic Robo Tesla Instead of having that big wobbly sensor pad you would have individual components for each key.
Twich Oooh, you mean like typical keyboards? Is that it? Or is it something else entirely?
+Atomic Robo Tesla It's what they use in gaming keyboards.
Atomic Robo Tesla "typical" is a broad term. A typical keyboard can have either mechanical keys or the sensor pad.
I would seriously love a properly official Lego Keyboard. Would be awesome.
I'm sitting here thinking of ways to modify the Adam kit that is arriving soon ("lego" board)...but then i realized I have this $4 membrane keyboard much like the one you used and I can't help but want to try this, too! Thanks for the link to your website also! Kudos on the creativity!
WARNING: NOT RECOMMENDED FOR RAGE
Raging COD Noob Kid: NOOOO THATS MY KILL!!! HACKER HACKER!!!! STUPID KEY BOARD!!!!!!!! *punches and sits on keyboard, then throws keyboard out window*
Rip hand of rager.
This is Legos. Good luck not getting stabbed by this keyboard.
no this is good for rage because if you get mad and smash it for some reason you can just rebuild it instead of spending (insert overpriced bad quality keyboard price here) on a new keyboard
@Toblarone ok maybe not those
Who else found this in their recommended list?

Now THAT'S a mechanical keyboard
No, just no
You must have no ears babe
I was joking...
this isn't a sms chat room

So cool keep up the great work
dude
Ahh, 2014, truly a time of not being forced to be shoved in your home all day, constantly having to figure out what to do. Good times...
Send this to the Lego owner, he might pay you to use this design and you might get a share of the sales.
SeyeS
TO ALL PEOPLE ASKING FOR MECHANICAL VERSION:
1. Take your current mechanical keyboard.
2. Take of a single keycap to start with
3. When you look on the inside, there is a small bar with a cross-shaped hole in the middle. Cut out this bar and put it aside.
4. Glue the bar onto whatever Lego piece you wish to use as a keycap
5. Let it dry
6. Put it back onto the keyboard!
It's actually really easy to do, as long as you have a tool that can cut the plastic.
Warning: After doing this, you won't be able to use the previous keycap anymore. You'll have to buy new keycaps if you wish to switch back. But if you try this out, you'll have a Lego mechanical keyboard with the sexy sounding switches!
Sidenote: After trying this out for myself I suggest you don't put O-Rings in the keys (if you use them) as they will cause the lego keycap to wear out and eventually fall out, and you will have to reglue them. So make sure not to use O-Rings. At least not the 0.4 mm ones I use.
To be honest it's a cool project but it's not the same as having the rounded keycaps you would find in mechanical keyboards. Lego pieces are flat.
Another important note:
If you have an rbg keyboard I suggest not using lego pieces as it covers the lighting, and the only way to view lighting is the spaces between the keys.
Summary:
After doing this myself (I'll include pictures if you want) I don't think it was worth it. Fun project to work on, but there are a lot of holes that would require repairing every few months. That's something I would not be willing to do. The pieces aren't very comfortable as they are just flat, with no curves. Also if you do not cut the cross-holed barrels correctly, the lego keycap will be slanted on the actual keyboard.
CONCLUSION:
An overall fun and cheap project for me (overall spent around $50 for new keycaps after cutting up the old ones and for lego pieces to use for the project) but a waste of glue, Legos, and plastic. This project is fun, but not worth it. Thanks for sticking through my writing lol. Enjoy!
lol
there are lego pieces with the little plus thing on the bottom so it could be possible
thx
Glad to hear from someone who tried :)
thank you verry much
So it's basically a run of the mill rubber dome with slider design, except the sliders, keycaps and keyboard frame are all made of LEGO bricks. Cool.
Smart ! Very cool piece !
In computer rage, the keyboard will shatter into pieces instantly! :D
Lego keyboard with Cherry MX switches?
Vladimir Dragunov Maybe this fall/winter I'll look into building a mechanical version. :)
JK Brickworks Nice., looking forward to seeing it. :)

Nice! That’s pretty cool!!
Amazing, absolutely amazing! 👌
So, im seeing a lot of keyboard related comments here with people who are experienced in this sort of thing
And now i am curious, I have a laptop, are laptop keyboards typically mechanical or sensor pad?
I'm no expert, but I think most laptop keyboards are membrane ones (like the one in this video).
Please, go on!
Laptop keyboards are normally sensorepads.(Rubber dome)
Mechanical keyboards are expensive and are greater in size compared to noprmal Laptop keyboards.
In the Desktop section. most of them are identical in size.
***** Interesting.
I want to learn more about the history of mechanical keyboards
There's the MSI GT80 with Cherry MX keys but it's also as ugly as it is expensive...
YOU ARE AMAZING
It’s beautiful!
Ay very cool Keep up the good work!

Wow this keyboard is amazing
This will be my summer project!
You should swap the red M-key to become a W-key so that it`s easier to find the WASD-keys if you use them for any games or something else :D
Just an idea :D

Teclado hecho con piezas de LEGO!! ^^
No se que opinarán los sibaritas de los teclados, pero a mi hijo seguro que le encantaría probar este teclado. ;P
Esto es innovación!! #quierounoya
ohhhhh epiccry! como mola!
A mi me encanta. Tan solo imaginar la posibilidades de personalización es una pasada!
Como curiosidad y teclado de coleccionista mola, pero el tacto de las teclas pésimo, por ser de membrana le digo hasta Lego.
thats amazing!
I did this and added cool stuff and it's my everyday keyboard now
