    oh my goodness we are a recycling company and we had no fking clue whether these were glued in or bolted in haha we tried smashing these of our loading dock and they stuck! good to know we can pry one off then cut underneath the remainder. thanks pal!!! this is the 6th video we watched that bothered to explain this

    Thanks for the video!! It was helpful as I had to do a swap and saved a bunch of money by just changing the battery. This particular UPS, the battery can be hot-swappable and after reinstallation with the new batteries, just press the test button again and the warning lights will go off..

    Thanks for the warning about the double-sided tape or glue. I wasn't sure why our batteries were so stuck.

      hahah we threw 10 of these off our loading dock (because smashing ups normally gets the battery and transformer out easily) and they wouldn’t come loose!!!

    Is 1234W an overseas size or international catalog? I have multiple BP-8 batteries; look almost the exact same thing from my rackmount 1500.

    Question: Are those 2 UPS working together? I have a rack mount SmartUPS exactly like what you have and they are connected to my switches and firewall and I want to add another one for redundancy purpose. My switches don't have dual plugs. Is there a way to connect 2 of these SmartUPS 1500 in a parallel type setup so that when I have to change out the battery on one I don't have to completely turn off my switches?

  • @fabiobarros5318
    @fabiobarros5318 Před 4 lety +6

    You don't need turn off the UPS, this battery modules are hot swap.

  • @gerrytessier2057
    @gerrytessier2057 Před 3 lety +4

    Hmmm, why did you power down the UPS? Aren't those batteries hot-swappable? Shouldn't the UPS still be able to supply "wall" power to connected devices?

    I'm getting a minor spark when connecting wires to the battery. My UPS is using two 12v 12Ah batteries in series (plus to minus). Is this normal? I'm a big wuss when it comes to electricity.

    • @chasingabag
      @chasingabag Před 6 lety

      This is normal, per their documentation!

    • @28YorkshireRose12
      @28YorkshireRose12 Před 5 lety

      Quite normal, and you also get the same thing happening if/when you change your car battery, and for the same reason, the circuitry is always on, and goes live as soon as you connect the batteries.

  • @am3777
    @am3777 Před 6 lety +2

      yes

    • @28YorkshireRose12
      @28YorkshireRose12 Před 5 lety +1

      That's the beauty of these things, the batteries are "hot swappable" - the only caveat is that you won't have any back-up power if the mains failed whilst you did the battery swap, otherwise, swap and go, on the go.

    How have you identified which was the faulty battery? Which parameter have you noticed degraded?
    Or have you replaced all the batteries together at once, without replacing only the faulty battery?

      @@MrMeltedwellies I bought today new batteries, but I saw that the default ones have a life span of 3-5 years. In my case, they have died after around 3 years. Today I have spotted a new battery (Fiamm 12FGHL34, made in Vietnam) and with an expected lifecycle of 10-12 years. Search for Google for this battery, it's way more expensive than the Vision CP1290 model which was installed in the original pack. My only concern is that each battery has 8.4Ah capacity and not 9Ah, being the risk that the APC UPS to detect that the batteries don't have a larger capacity. Do you think that this would be an issue? I should receive the new batteries in few days.

    Not right replacement. You need reset UPS Battery Constant.
