Dog Racism Transcript:
Okay today we are going to be looking at dog racism now there are two types of dog racism, type 1 is racism in the form of dogs, things like saying the borzois have let the pitbulls in the dog park to reduce the golden retriever population, that’s just racism using dogs and is a dogwhistle pun intended. The second type of dog racism is actual racism to dogs and different dog breeds which is what we are going to be talking about today. Dog racism is actually a lot more common than you would think unironically and there is quite a big history associated with it, I mean dog breeders have been committing essentially eugenics for hundreds of years now with dog breeds and dog racism is only a couple step before eugenics. In todays video we will be looking at the history of dog racism and the persecution that followed it, as well as highlighting some of historical what I like to call dogroms. That being said I do have to say though that I believe that one breed just shouldn’t exist and that racism to that breed is acceptable. The fact that we have bred them to the stage that they are at is a testament to the horrors of the free will of man, and im talking about the ugly genetic abominations known as the mutant bullies and their variants but we will get to that later in the video. Before we get into that whole mess lets talk about my favourite dog breed the borzoi and why I believe it is one of the biggest victims of dog racism and one of the most underrated breeds. Firstly they are literally dog royalty, the breed was created in 16th century Russia and were quickly adopted by the aristocracy. So much so that most of the time you couldn’t even buy one and they were only made available through gifts from the Tsar at the time. They are a type of sighthound and were used for hunting wolves, yea that’s right wolves, they would work in teams to pin them down by their neck and either wait for the hunter to kill it or release it. Okay so they can take down wolves that must mean they are incredibly aggressive and dangerous? Actually no, they are incredibly calm dogs, they act almost regally being usually seen not heard. Because of their reputation as dogs of royalty they were actually almost brought to extinction by murderous communist revolutionaries during the Russian revolution, if you needed any more reason to hate communists its that they also loved murdering dogs because those dogs made them feel inferior. Fortunately like most things associated with communism, their attempts at extinguishing the breed failed, sparse numbers of the breed remained and with the efforts of a breeding program they managed to make a comeback although still being a rarer breed of dog. So yea a dog that is royalty that is living testimony to the failures of communism will always be cool to me and that’s why its my favourite breed. Our second breed that has faced dog racism that we will be looking at is the dachshund, it’s the eve of WW1 and the breed was quite popular on farms working underground hunting badgers and foxes in the countryside. That was to change when the German dog with a German name would be used by political cartoonists as a punchline to represent the German enemy. Oftentimes they would depict the british bulldog chasing or beating the dachshund in an effort to drum up war morale. This inevitably led to a decline in the population of the breed as it was kind of seen as the enemy and why would you want a foreign enemy breed when you could have the all British breed instead. This actually led to in some cases public stoning of the dog in high streets with at least one being recorded in the autobiography of author graham greene. What makes this more cruel was the fact that the breed is a very emotional and affectionate breed so even after all the abuse the dog wouldn’t have fought back. The breed nowadays has fortunately lost its stigmatisation and funnily enough is still used in political cartoons in the form of memes. Its often referred to as the sausage dog because of its shape but the funniest meme in my opinion is this one which obviously for youtube reasons I have to censor but its become so abundant that usually you find it without the text with the same effect. All in all a good dog with a tragic history of dog racism similar to the borzoi. Our next tale of dog racism takes us to the british pet holo….. oh okay then. I mean that’s definitely one way to put it but ill just refer to it as the BPH. So again it’s the eve of a world war the second one this time, If I had a penny for everytime a dogs get abused right before a world war id have two pennis which isnt a lot but its kinda weird it happened twice. My sister has a pug/Jack Russell cross a bit like that.
Its problem with the owners. Pugs wouldn't have such problems if the owners would keep them in shape, talking from my own experience.

I had a German Shepard. He was a police dog that was dropped because he didnt bite no matter what training they gave him. He was however VERY good at sniffing out weed. Our neighbors smoked, and when we walked by their car he would immediately alert.
I have a dog that’s part German Shepherd and part Rottweiler. You’d never guess though because she just looks like a buff Labrador since she has almost no black on her. The Vet has her listed as a Shepherd mix specifically because if places like kennels saw the word Rottweiler they’d probably immediately turn her away
Had a Belgian malinois ex cop dog. Kicked out for bad eyesight. In my situation I'm the stoner and man he loved hanging out with me as a result
That's a cool mix. I'm sure she's smart and very protective of your family and house. I don't know why people feel that way about Rottweilers, as they're good dogs. They get lumped in with pittbulls, who really do deserve their bad reputations.

My 15 year old pug just passed yesterday peacefully while asleep. He hadn't done it for years, but he would scream like a child when we would run from him, then chase us while screaming. They are odd creatures for sure.

Anyway, you are 100% correct. “Pitbull” is a whole lot of breeds and mutts being reported. People associate “Pitbull” with bite so when they get bit, any dog with one of a broad number of characteristics is reported as “Pitbull.” Very few of these dogs in America are actually Pitbull terrier or American Bully etc… which are biting people.
I love my XL bully. He is the friendliest dog I have ever met, and is so for anyone who has met him. He had a long lineage of dogs bred for calm, loving temperment. I have had labs and none of them were anywhere near as friendly as him. When he goes to the park he will literally walk around and kiss and cuddle every single fucking person there.

Actual dog racism is between 'pure breed' dogs and mutts. It's interesting when you breed deformed breeds of dog like pitbull, corgi, greyhound together, after just 2 or 3 generations they end up looking like generic normal dog.

I have 2 XL bullies. They are mother and daughter. The daughter is animal aggressive, but the mother is completely non-aggressive towards anything besides my vacuum. I inherited them from my brother when he passed, and they are everything to me. Would I ever have bullies or pitbulls again by choice when they're gone? No, because unfortunately you are correct in saying that they can have an innate aggression regardless of upbringing. Pits were bred to be game dogs, and unfortunately even though mine are long removed from a working line, that disposition can still apparently bloom in them. I have to be very careful and responsible with the daughter because she is dangerous, and it's a shame that she will never be able to be around other dogs. I still love them more than anything else in my life, though.
😂 that isn't exclusive to pit bulls not only this it's clear that the daughter wasn't socialized as a puppy. You can still do it but it'll be way harder now.

I’m not going to be subtle about it, the dachshunds did nothing wrong. They just wanted what was best for their puppies. The kennel clubs want you to think they started the dog fights, but it was those bulldogs that forced them to defend themselves. There is nothing wrong with keeping a healthy dog breed.

i had a French bulldog growing up, i can completely understand why people find them and pugs cute, but the health issues and breeding practices around the small snub-nosed breeds is awful. There should really be an attempt to walk back on the breeding strangeness and breed for dogs that aren't going to struggle through the last 5 years of their lives in pain.

@@RainbowdashLT It's not weird at all. We're top predators, we like having our small predators as pets. All of our best friends became that by being ruthless as we are. It's utterly normal for person to get a sense of joy seeing their cat maul a rat in their house. That's literally what we got them for. Rats eat our food, our lovely predators eat the rat.

The only issue though... we like 'em controllable, and the pits are the opposite of that. This is why we talk so much about that breed specifically. Capability of doing violence is not a negative to us, on the contrary, it's a positive. But incapability of control violence is what a wild animal is, unpredictable, untamed, useless.
@26th_Primarch can cope all he wants, but all the breeds he mentioned with a snarky tone asking if he needs to continue, are controllable breeds. This is why it's a moot point, not because other breeds are incapable of great violence. Humans aren't different either. Majority of our myths, legends and stories we tell to each other have protagonists capable of great violence, often doing it too, but never rabid animals, always stoic controlled aggression. This is why they need to go. They were a mistake and we can fix it.
I'm glad you mentioned pugs but I wish you would have mentioned the health side of it. Smash-Faced breeds of dogs and cats are fucked. They don't have proper respiration because their sinuses are smushed, pugs eyes are damn near falling out of their sockets. It's not just inhumane but actually evil to create animals like this, the further a dog looks from a Wolf the more horribly mutated it is.

Pit Bulls are only so high because a lot of breeds of dog are either mixed or look like it. Yet again will they are quite common. So in other words I wouldn't say thats a fair or clear statistic a lot of people mark up dogs who have mauled or bit people as pit bulls due to look alikes or multiple breed situations.

honestly the worst take you've had on something in my opinion, any dog can be a bad one. It all depends on the training they receive, I'm not arguing against the statistics, all I'll say is that in my experience, owning a few pittbulls (and yea I know I'm probably biased) they are the sweetest, most caring, and boneheaded animals I have ever cared for. wearing a muzzle is cringe tho

My neighbour has a pug named shuffle. One of the dumbest dogs ive ever met. He has no teeth so his tongue just hangs out of his mouth. Hes only 6 but looks like he could be 20, and a crawling baby could probably run faster than him. Hes always groaning and he cant go outside in the summer for longer than 10 minutes or he will get heatstroke.

Wee need to send pitbulls back to the kennel they came from. Despite ample opportunities, they've demonstrated their incapability to exist in a civilized golden retriever dog park. It is the same story in every dog park that you observe them. Golden retriever's compassion and solidarity (traits absent in pitbulls just by looking at how they treat other cute animals) will be our downfall.

It's okay to hate a dog breed, especially if it's a breed that's suffering however you should still love these dogs as an individual.

Some of the best trained dogs I've encountered have been part Pitt bull. My friends bully Levi you can wrestle with and play with all day with no ferocity but when it comes to walking he tugs and cannot be trusted around other dogs. It is interesting to me that mutts with pitty genes you can walk through down town without a leash, but full breeds are just toddlers with the ability to cause severe damage.
Pugs are such a useless organism. Just worse bull dogs. Dont get why people love pugs.

Because dog breeds were created through human's manipulating the genetic traits of dogs over hundreds of years to ensure the desired instincts and behaviors were readily present. Humans evolved naturally across the globe in a number of different locations which resulted in a variety of genetic differences that are only skin deep. A human is a human regardless of where its from, and will behave according to its environment and how its been socialized. A dog will act according to its bred for traits regardless of training; for example, a pointer will still point regardless of how much you attempt to train it not to. I used to watch Judge Judy and that other show back in highschool and I swear every time there was a case involving dogs, it was like 99% of the time because a pitbull injured or killed someone or someone else's pet.
At most 10% the others are completely other dogs due to the amount of false reports due to them being a completely different dog

I was specifically looking for someone to comment this. I was thinking the same thing. Also I very much disagree with Stoic on his views on bully breeds, especially after what he said about pugs. Pugs are a type of bully breed. While I’m glad the U.K isn’t doing another pet holocaust and forcing owners to kill their dogs, I disagree with breed bans for this very reason. It will likely make more black market backyard breeding as well as further the stigma that bully breeds are inherently dangerous. Also the reason “put bulls” make such a high percentage of dog bites is because unlike the other dogs listed pit bulls are not a single breed and are instead an umbrella term (much like bully breed) that includes multiple dog breeds.
However, even though I don’t think I’ll ever support a breed ban, I am curious to see what will happen long term with this.

Second of all. Every mutt with a broad frame is called a pitbull.
Third, atleast across the channel staffords and apbt’s are around 5/6 place when in comes to bite incidents. While being amoung the top 10 most populair breeds, the german sheppard who is ranked higher on both lists, never gets mentioned.
Fourth, the xl bully is to inbred and should not be bred further, so on that we agree.
Would have been nice of you to not litterly be dog racist. The common line of both the staffords an pitbulls have been working dogs for as long as they existed, and when bloodsports where bannes they where used in hunting an guarding like any other dog.
Wich they where great at beacause for about 100 years, any specimen who bit a handler, owner or spectator/refferee during bloodsports was shot on the spot, so agressiveness towards people was litterly extirminated, wich shows in the reputable stats available to me (dutch vets, insurance companys, etc).
I foster dogs. Have had several pits. They are no worse than rotts or german shepherds. Its the type of people who adopt these types. Look at how their kids turn out...
