    Great vid the best form of boating is cheap and easy. Over the years I've had little boats and big boats and by far the best is a dinghy you put in the car with a small engine .My last big rib cost £70 per hour thank God I haven't got it now. The problems with ramps,launching, storage and cost just makes little boats more viable.

      There are many benefits having maximum portability, and cheap to run. I do hate packing back in the car through!

    Really enjoyed the video, as a new 15 foot shetland owner I was a bit apprehensive about trips from Southampton to the Isle of Wight, mainly because if anything went wrong I would get a bit 'i told you so' from the Mrs.
    After watching your video its given me some more confidence to just get out there and enjoy the solent.
    Thanks mate 👍

      Andy O you’ll be fine, choose a calm day with good visibility and time the tides in your favour. Navionics app is brilliant. Stay to one side of the main channels out of the way of the big ships. Try Wooton creek and Cowes as they should be easy from Southampton, also Beaulieu river is fun 👍

      Mark Christie it’s a 15hp two stroke, my friend was using a 10hp four stroke.

      @@mxf2812 thanks for the reply. Since watching your video I have got the bug and want to go to the isle of Wight for a bacon sandwich😂😂. Just bough a zodiac grand raid mk3 and wondering what engine to put on the back. Thanks again. Mark

      Mark Christie looks like the Grand Raid is a big boat, up to 65hp 😮what length is it ? Must be 5m or so?

      @@mxf2812 yes 5mtrs. Was thinking 30hp will be plenty enough.

    How long did it take u to get there mate and we’re did u go from.do you think it’s possible to do it on a 3m rib with 5hp 4stroke 2man up on a calm day I have got my eye out for a 10-15hp

    • @mxf2812
      @mxf2812  Před 2 lety +1

      I launched at Bucklers Hard in Beaulieu and went down the river for 20mins and 30mins across to Cowes maybe less. I was using a 3m in this but 15hp. You could do it with a 5hp but it will take you twice as long. Get yourself a 10-15hp and you will go a lot further and have a lot more fun 👍
