- Abstract acrylic painting technique with a rubber squeegee. I tried this fast and easy paint dragging technique and loved it, although I did have some problems with it, too. Have you tried it? What do you do with the excess paint?

Essentially you put different colored blobs of paint on canvas and then drag the paint down the canvas with a window squeegee or some other tool and it creates an abstract painting.

😅squeegee art
Make a journal with your leftover papers, and when the journal is full, put it in the bin where most journals belong :). And the lines in acrylic paint are often because of the brush, not the paint. Filbert-shaped are supposed to not give lines.
awesome, just awesome
I will try to paint like you. 👍🏻 .
I like the paper that you dragged the extra paint on to.
I immediately saw a group of people. It reminded me of busy people walking around an NYC street .
THE PAINT ON THE WATERCOLOUR PAPER LOOKS BETTER THAN THE CANVAS in my opinion😊
The watercolor paper is less textured. Maybe that's why?
YES I LOVE IT TOO 😂
The fall off is beautiful if you’re ready to catch it.
I think the bottom of the 1st one you did makes it look like their reflections in a body of water underneath, super cool!
You just gave me a great idea. I’m not a painter; straight line baffle me, but I believe I can do this. I’m just about to turn 70, and have too many life pictures in all different sizes, which I need to reframe, hard to find frame sizes, so perhaps do something like this, and add my lovely b/w & color pics to a few of these I’ll paint myself. You’ve inspires me, and perhaps I’ll share some on a new channel. Thank you, darling, for the idea and sharing your talent with us.
What a fun technique to try! I've never seen this before. I love how affordable this is. I also appreciate how you explained everything step by step and your honesty throughout the process. The 1st one totally does look like a group of people. I also like how you curved the second pull. Art is all about experimenting. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you for sharing what you are doing and why! The pictures are amazing! Beautiful!
Yes it does look like a group of people 🥰 Love all the colours you used, fantastic 🌹🌹🌹🦋🦋🌺🌼☘️☘️
Love this technique, and how honest you are.
The left over paint on white sheet would make beautiful wrapping paper!
I like this. I love painting, crafting, beading, etc. It’s so relaxing 😌. It turned out very pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Love your sense of humor ❤ and your enthusiasm for creating 😊
I think you did a great job of trying it and I like your comments on what you might’ve done the next time. If you really want to get rid of the canvas weave, you could do gesso first, although the canvases are usually pre gessoed. I think in the big painting, the smaller blobs look like children in the crowd. The smaller painting to me looks like birds. I like both of them.
so love your honesty ... especially the end. With the left over paper.
Artists often leave parts of the canvas not covered with paint intentionally to create negative space, so for me it doesn't really look unfinished rather, creating a visual balance and harmony within the artwork. By paying attention to the negative space, artists can create a sense of depth, contrast, and tension in their compositions. I liked your squeegee painting, with the people, in a crowd/circle.
Exactly!
@@sarimaaret6845 in that case it should be painted white first otherwise you're left with a shitty dull texture from the canvas
@@busitup This is exactly what I meant. Leaving the bare canvas showing makes it look unfinished to me.
I used to print a lot on machines that used squeeges attached, now if you look carefully on the edge of the squeegee you will find on the edge of the squeegee you will find one edge smooth for when you want an ordinary print but if you turn the squeegee over you will find the edge is sharp for more sharper picture. Try it out and you will definitely see a difference.
Fabulous! Thank you for sharing!
My wife and I love this! Thank you! :D
Yes, as you pulled the scraper across the people appeared, amazing 😊
I need something blue for my bathroom but I don’t have money for a nice piece . Thank you for this !! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Original and fascinating approach to making art.
I like the textured look, both are beautiful!
Well that is pretty darn neat.
How delightfully wonderful. Thanks for sharing. ☺️
Ohhh I LOVE THESE techniques.. Thank you so much for awakening my slump.. ❤
This is great! This is the sort of thing I could do with my students; it’s so accessible. ❤️
Your canvases are beautiful.
Beautiful work 👍
it looks like a group of people! i love it!
The canvas texture looks good - I like it!
Brilliant idea
Try a couple coats of gesso to smooth out that surface. You'll get less of that canvas coming through and the coverage will be better. Very cool!
Fun play! Thanks for sharing ❤
✌️💜😊
I can see why you like this, very effective 😊❤
Very symmetrical dotting!
Is still an acrylic paint picture I like it. I paint acrylic paint pictures too. But I’m learning from you people are very professional. 👍🏻🌷 .
That's amazing! I would like to try it. Thanks for the tutorial.
Looks great !!!
Stunning
That's a really cool technique.
I love this ❤
Very pretty! ❤
It’s a nice technique.
Love the way u readily accepted yr mistake and made it sound so good 😍😂
What fun!!~~I must try this.
Todella hienoa jälkeä 😍😍
Gorgeous ❤ you're a gifted artist 🥰
I enjoyed this video and your narration.
If you use different size squeegee like smaller ones, you could circle around the canvas.
I do paint by number and tend to have a ton of paint left over. Now, I know what I can do with it.
what a great idea
Very creative.
Very interesting technique. 😊
I’ve got to try this!
These are lovely 💝 very enjoyable to watch 🥰 big hugs!
Looks very good
👁👁 excellent…👏👏
Nice---- I would like to try this with a prepared red background, maybe scarlet or tomato colored, and then when that's all dry I'll pour several droplets or squiggles of black and also white over it in sort of a haphazard way. I'll squeegee the b&w paints (down or up) across the red bg, and that might look interesting. Maybe after it's done and dried, one could add a few small details by hand (via a small brush or Q-Tip or even a fingertip) in a golden hue or bright yellow to give a 4th color. Sp basically you just have a few very strong colors.
I want to try a lot ... squeegeeing paints horizontally instead of vertically, etc. We are only limited by our imaginations and creativity.
Thanks for sharing this. Good video and pleasant narration.
Very pretty, looks modern
Thanks! 😊
This is a cool method thankyou for sharing
❤
How fun - will have to give this a try. Think it might be easier to use smaller squeeze bottles with paint that's mixed with a pour paint recipe. I have some Folkart Dot paints I could try too but they are a bit thicker than a pour paint recipe. Then again I could probably put down a layer of clear gesso or other medium before applying paint. So many options. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yeah, probably. I have a pour art kit, but I'm saving that for a pour art video, so I didn't want to open it for this.
With that voice this an automatic like.
I'm in the screenprinting industry and we do something similar. With each subsequent pass of the squeegee the pattern would change slightly making no two garments the same.
The scraped off paint on water colour paper is far more interesting than the over worked finished pieces, also a very light scraping technique can produce strange, unique results. Artist Gerhard Richter used this technique on very large masterpieces.
Love this idea! ❤
Thanks, Lynn!
simple however beautiful
So creative!!! Thank you ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Glad you liked it! 💜
Even with the canvas showing, it looks good.
WoW, WoW, Very Very Wonderful and Creative Art, Thanks for Sharing. 😍 😍😍😍👌👌👌👌💞💞💞💞💯💯
Glad you liked it, thanks!
Looks nice
Very cool 🤙
The first one looks to me like a group of women wearing headscarves, with children. Very beautiful!
this is so cool! thank you!
1:50 I think all us artists say this cute little excuse and hope no one notices
Looks fantastic thank you 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!! 😊
Thank you for sharing ❤ love your work and please ignore fools who say silly comments
Thanks, that technic allows you make a crowd of people.
Love it!
Thanks!!
Paper runoff looked cool
Explaining helps a lot❤❤ thank you so much
Glad it was helpful, thanks! 😊
Love it thanks x Clementine
The 2nd painting reminded me of Orcas jumping out of water.
I can tell you what to do with them. Buy gluevarnish and add another color 50\50 mixed with the varnish. Then cover the paper entirely with the transparent mix. This makes the paper get a uniform shade again, with some variations. Now draw with a chalk. Then cover with pure varnishglue to seal the painting. Anyway great upload, thx!
👀❤ I LOVE IT!!!
What a fun craft! And, I have 2 or 3 canvasses that I painted a couple years ago in sort of an abstract thing so I will just reuse them by painting a color over them and then doing the squeegee technique! ❤
I’ve done the same
Pretty 🥰
Thanks! 😊
Nice!
Thanks, Phoebe!
Nice.
very nice!
Thanks! 😊
Cool.
Thanks!
Hi, Ivy. I'm new here. Looks like fun! I love the results. 💖
So I did the group of people on a large canvas. Although it does look like a group of something I realized the quality of paint matters also one very important thing is you have to clean the squeegee each time you start a new section otherwise the top will not appear as heads (not rounded). Another thing the bright colors are more revealing of the images. I’m okay with my results. However I love the three small canvases that are the result of the paint that was dragged down.
👍 Yep, the squeegee does have to be cleaned after each time, not sure if I remembered to say it in this video.
Fun…I can definitely see the people.
❤ you did a great job!❤
Thanks! ☺️
@@IvyLilyCreative I tried it too yesterday. It was relaxing. I’m new to making art videos too here on CZcams.
@@Inspireandcreate1982yeah I’m just trying it
Killer Whales jumping out of the water in the 2nd painting
😂
Omg this is so beautiful!!! Hooked!! They all turned out absolutely amazing♥️
Thank you, Ro! ❤
wow, the larger one looks like a group of elders encircling someone...I immediately thought they might be blessing a baby...and yes the bottom has a water effect, so they look like they're standing in water...baptism?
This is noice
You could put simple faces, maybe just the eyes.
Gesso?
Instead of paper at the bottom why not a smaller canvas and wipe the excess paint on that
Yeah, that would work, too. I was thinking to maybe continue the paintings on watercolor paper and then cut them up to use as postcards/greeting cards.
