After listening to Harry talk about this song, I believe the song is about himself, a kind of metamorphosis he made due to different very difficult things he experienced. He said that we all went through something difficult collectively and individually during the pandemic. I love the red and blue outfits. They're gorgeous but I think also represent whether Harry was going to take the red pill and deal with issues and let go of things--metamorphosis--or take the blue pill and hang on to things in the past and parts of him or his past that he needed to be free of. He took the red pill. He looked joyful at the end. I loved it.

To me he's talking about today's marriage/dating culture how it could never be as it was. Where children are the one's who ultimately suffer growing up without fathers. Where guys stay with all the responsibilities and girls move on like nothing. High speed internet: I guess he means girls selling pictures online. Destruction of family unit. Harry is a true romantic. You think Harry approves of all this only fans nonsense? That's a sick society! Leave America: Guys leaving western society.

Because I’m older and see the shift in the world and society. I take it as people are disconnected and are more isolated especially after the pandemic. No one is truly there for you. There is the disconnect of family and friends. No one answer the door and may call just to see if your ok. Everyone is on there phones wrapped up in social media absent of the true connection of family and friends busy and hurrying like ants 🐜 never taking time to smell the coffee and knowing what’s important in life

This is the great thing about art in general, everybody can make their own interpretation of it and take from it whatever they want to and in some way all theories kind of make sense. Harry is an amazing artist when it comes to that freedom of making art that is approachable and relatable to everybody

Wow, that was a great theory . Now I'm definitely going to play closer attention to the video, the symbolism is beautiful.
The song had a completely different meaning for me. It was about being without someone and loving them so much, but you are toxic together and you try to hold on to one another...but it's "not the same as it was" every time you go back. And you both are stuck in this moment. Finally there is internal growth and one emerges without the other. They are free of the circles of toxicity....and the emotional heartbreaking spirals. Then when they appear again towards the end it is them crossing their mind. It's so devastatingly beautiful to me.. It is amazing at how many different ways this song can be interpreted. Truly one of the most captivating things about it. It tells your story and how it means to you.

I love this theory. i have also heard that the song it about his parents and there relationship just going in circles leading into a divorce and the toll it took on harry via the phone line some people say it might be revering to a concerned family member talking to harry.

I really like this theory and hope it is right. I have seen so many theories and Easter eggs within it that weren't mentioned here and those make sense too but this one seems the most positive. I just know I cannot wait until the album release !!

@@michellesmith9821 I feel when you are in your 20's its a time to find out who you are and what you want to do, in your 30's it's a time to implement these decisions - career, marriage, kids etc.
Also, the girl in the beginning says 'we' it could be O's kids or it could be Ruby's parents, Harry's manager Ben & his wife who Harry lived with for awhile. I toss around H & O being together but I get it if they are, she is quirky like him and he enjoys her taking care of him but I don't know its so confusing. Nice to see him happy & free and himself. Back in the day he was really broken because of what some people said about him but now he is so confident and doesn't care, so proud of him.

I enjoy Harry's visual references a lot. One not mentioned in this video is that the vignette of him posed within the huge house cutout as it's lifting away from him is straight out of a silent Buster Keaton comedy. But in the original, instead of the weight moving up and off the hero, it falls on him--miraculously not killing him because he happens to be standing exactly where the open doorway is.

I love the Eames explanation. This makes a lot of sense. The modernism of the album cover is very Eames. The shot of Barbicon at the end is so striking and represents a time of modernism and transformation of ways of being in space. I had wondered if the blue figure was Louis. But if it was, I would have expected blue and green. Blue and red are opposite temperatures. Blue is cold, Red is hot. Blue is dead, Red is vibrant. I think it’s an awakening for Harry.

I just heard the song a few weeks ago. I love that warmish vibe it has. I heard it on my Onkyo AVR. I was like ooooo this has Siera's warm welcoming kinda bubbly vibes about it. Siera is my next door neighbor BTW. But any how. Later on listening to the lyrics the first half sounded like he was talking about someone he just realized how much he actually loved. I always did wander about that second virce. Where it seemed like someone perhaps the person refrenced in virce 1 is now looking for him. I also guessded the dad had told this person to go check on Harry. But I didn't really think much about it. Mostly I injoy the vibes.
the first scene in the MV where harry is moving away from the rest of the people down a long walkway reminds me of the you&I music video where the boys are also walking down a long board walk, harry in the middle, and the lot doing funny eratic movements like the man in the brown coat. Personally im a larry but am torn between as it was having a larry meaning or about himself (both of wich i love completely) but i thought this specifically could have been a one D reference tying to your point :)

I think the entire vid is about Harry and his personal journey rather than about other people. I also think Harry enjoys learning about all our different theories. I don't think it's gender dysmorphia. I think he's just absolutely comfortable with his sexuality and who he is. He is in touch with both -his feminine and masculine sides. You can be as such and not have gender dysmorphia. He's beautifully honest with who he is and that translates whenever you see Harry Styles.
