    If Rode added more to this, even for a small price., they totally could give Wave or GoXLR a run for their money... This really could be a replacement for voicemeeter!!! Come on Rode.. lets make this AWESOME!!

    Excellent review, Andrew. I’m glad you gave Rode some props for the support of their older product. It’s very forward-looking of them to enhance the value of their products in this way, serving also as an effective demo of a purchase version with deeper channel control which I’ll just BET will be called Rode Connect Pro. I am really impressed by Rode, on a business level, for taking this approach.

    If RODE either developed a dynamic mic version of the mini or via software updates in the future the ability to choose a mic of your own choice....this software for podcasting and studio work would be a total game changer. I suspect RODE have chosen to utilise a particular mic to bundle with the unique software so as to not kill of their hardware console the RODECASTER PRO. Using condenser mics for a podcasting set-up with everyone in the same space seems a weird decision and not great for overall audio. In a host (local) with external guests, not so much of a worry but Dynamic mics are the professional way to go. If RODE doesn't eventually allow use of dynamics with RODE CONNECT software or any mic of choice...I suspect someone else will develop similar with these options and take market share in the podcast set-up space.

  • @swschilke
    @swschilke Před 3 lety

  • @phillean

    Rode have mentioned in other places that they are examining the possibility of adding the connection functionality to other Rode USB microphones.
    I have been thinking for a while that there is need for mixers and audio interfaces to have the ability to include USB microphones as part of their input.
    I can imagine a situation where a group of individuals, maybe experienced podcasters, each bring their favourite USB microphones to a round table discussion, not necessarily in a studio. It would be great to be able to plug them into one device and and mix them just like analogue sources.
    Currently many commentators are saying oh that is too difficult technically. My response to that is once upon a time computers did not have sound cards. I can remember that time. When there is a need or a demand then developments in technology can move quickly.

    I'm a little confused(though I probably shouldn't be). If you set Recording mode to Stereo, it doesn't actually produce a stereo image, you would still need a second NT USB Mini right to get a real stereo recording? Or does it pan the recording the mono recording left and right?
