Hi Ian! Great, informative video! I just coincidentally (& reluctantly) upgraded to 13 last week. The ONLY reason I upgraded was moving to an Apple silicon-chipped machine. I have never used an actual Steinberg plugin in 28 years because they are all (IMHO) garbage, EXCEPT for their fantastic vocal tuning ability. I hope they haven't screwed it up... Great tip on the UAD Polymax, I've been meaning to check that one out and didn't know it was included! Thank you for this!! : ) Will also check out the vocoder, maybe I'll be surprised... 😃

Interesting video, Ian. Melodyne is a plugin I own and use it on every one of my vocal tracks. Even the essential version is a nice plugin to get bundled in Cubase. Thanks for sharing!

Im a Studio One owner and felt short changed by the initial launch of V6 so held out for a discounted price. To be fair the V6.5 release was much better so jumped in after than and once the BF sales appeared. Think we are increasingly seeing complacency with the existing loyal user base. Native Instruments have been bombarding my youtube feed with adverts of the Mk 3 Komplete Kontrol over Easter. Which suggests that's another product that maybe hasn't enjoyed the takeup predicted (myself giving it a miss). I also see one of the main influences seems to be using more of the Arturia KeyLab instead, another is usng a MK2 🤣. But on some products best to let the initial rush of sales die down so manufacturerers have had time to properly evaluate the existing user base reaction. Enjoy your new Cubase release. No plans to ugrade my KK 👍
Yes, I definately think existing users often get a bad deal 😠 I see what NI is trying to do with the Mk 3 but doubling the price over the Mk 2 (even though it's physically better) is maybe not the best way to go about it
@@IanWaugh I watched your short about Spitfire too which also having one of those libraries myself seemed again a sure fire way way of unimpressing loyal customers. As for the MK3 KK, it appears directed towards users who want a premium keyboard experience rather than first and foremost a multi-function MIDI controller. Which I'm guessing is really the heartland territory for it's existing user base..Plus of course all the Maschine users where the Mk2 still offers integration missing from the newer model. Guess will be seeing a lot more adverts about it during 2024. Cheers Ian for a great channel.

Yes, the Mk 3 is for NI users rather than for someone wanting a general MIDI controller. But many NI users also want to control other stuff and I guess promoting the keyboard as a general MIDI controller rather than a rather good NKS controller may have spooked the bean counters into not dwelling on that so much...

I get it, though. You were expecting more than what's been offered considering it was a whole number upgrade. Maybe Steinberg has decided against half-stepping, in terms of versioning... if that's the case, then I'm cool with the upgrade. I certainly wouldn't want to use a product that has two years' worth of development crammed into one, sale or not.
And yes. There was a 50% discount a couple of years back. I believe it was for CB11.
@@QuaverloveStudio Yes, still reluctant, still a poor upgrade and, yes, Steinberg seems to be doing away with the .5 upgrade which this one struggles to achieve. Poor show I think but the vid explains why I (reluctantly) upgraded 😊

Ian, do find that some upgrades are for upgrades sake? I have found when I have upgraded in the past, the things you use the most, they seem to make it more awkward. :)
