You were my brother woody
I loved you
KENOBIIIIII
Can’t wait! At first thought it was only going to be about Obi One on Tattoine for 20 years, instead, pleasantly surprised by the trailers!
Hello there
Ahhhhh , I’ve been waiting for 17 years !!
Remembering that the person from the film crew who fixed lightsabers 20 years ago was named Thomas says a lot about Haydens character. What a cool guy
That was so cool. Shoutout to Thomas!
Yeah and then seeing Ewan light up idk if it was the lights but the 💡lit up when Ewan heard Hayden say Thomas lol
Totally agree
He seems to remember quite a bit about that time. Even Jett Lucas's pizza recommendation. The people of that time in his life must have meant more to him than he normally lets on.
I was thinking that. What a guy
I am so happy that the fanbase has been so kind to Hayden recently. That man truly deserves another chance. He is NOT a bad actor.
He's a good actor with a bad script
I still don't know how people hated so much the prequel ffs... Yes there were some cringe Worthy moments but for me still a great saga, and the acting of this guy for me is fenomenal he nailed the third movie... There is a small portion of the star wars fan base that is so annoying... They just dislike everything
@@mataloce the 3rd movie the only one that focuses on actual character development with a more solid story. The third movie was decent at best. Mediocre by majority. That being the only one that knows how to actually be a film doesn’t mean the other two were any good. Hayden shined in that last one cause 1, he’s a great actor. Multiple other films prove this and 2. It was actually a decent script, not great, not good, not the worst, but decent.
infinitely better than Jar-Jar.
@@idosabamemanuel5163 I thought the script was perfect the story was perfectly made. If you watch the clone wars it puts a lot of things to place and explain a lot of why anakin goes to the dark side and everything.
I love how when Hayden says "Thomas" and Ewan's face lights up like hes right back in the moment. Respect for remembering his name as well. I'm sure there was a lot of crew on set and to remember someones name especially 20 years later shows how the actors respected everyone on the crew.
your profile looks like an m&m
I thought the same thing. I hope Thomas watches this.
It's so wholesome that Hayden remembered Thomas and Ewan's face instantly lights up. It's a reminder that the actors and director(s) are only the most visible members of a production and the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes are the ones that make the production work.

yes! this made me choke up tbh it was so sweet
The good part in me thinks its really sweet, the bad part thinks that's because he didn't have much more film crews after that 🫠
"Thomas, the lightsaber guy."
"Oh yeah....Thomas."
That cracked me up for some reason. 😂 Yes, very endearing and refreshing, their humility.
Hayden’s lit up first. “There was that guy that all he did was lightsabers” and you see Hayden cracking a fatass smile
Hayden's real-life voice & personality is like Anakin's voice & personality in the Clone Wars show. I wish he was allowed to act like that in the movies.
Hayden remembering the name of a random crewmember on a film he worked on 17 years ago really should tell you everything you need to know about his character. Truly a prince among men.
"Thomas"... Ewan's eyes OO
It’s memorable because it was Hayden’s first big break in the industry and the role he played involved a lot of stunts. When he spent months with the same people working on the stunts and equipment you create lasting memories and friendships.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
I thought the same thing.
Facts
How the fans saw it:
Ewan: Only a Sith would put pineapple on pizza.
Hayden: You will try.
Imagine Anakin was screaming at the end cause he burned his mouth from the hot pizza slice
“I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and pineapple to my new pizza”
“Your new pizza? Anakin, my allegiance is to the savory, to the normal pizza!”
For me, Hayden is a perfect fit to play Darth Vader/Anakin because he has naturally a reserved attitude, a bit of underlying sadness and not a lot of facial mouvements when he speaks. Maybe this is what the criticism was about, but for me, he nailed it.
I agree. I always liked him as Anakin. It just made sense. I could see confusion, sadness and great potential from the character he played. I thought he nailed it
@suddhadasi Literally everyone from British Columbia / Vancouver is like that, which is where he's from.
I think we could all excuse his performance at some point, but his lines are unsalvageable. Just plain horrible writing. If his lines were actually believable and better thought out his performance wouldn't have been a problem

Thomas was betrayed by his son whom usurped him and now makes lightsabers for Hollywood. The whole story is quite a tragedy. His kid didn’t know him and just got in to making lightsabers and met Thomas one day and ended up replacing him when Thomas revealed to him that he was his father.
As someone who works in film/live events: Hayden Christensen just earned a TON of respect from me. The fact he immediately could recall the name of a crew member from the production!
that's what I thought!
the way ewan's face lit up he was like 'yeah, wow his name WAS thomas! How the hell did you remember that?'

Hayden and Ewan were also big fans. Just knowing how good they are too each other is a good sign as well
Love how Ewan reacted to his name. I think he talked about Thomas on Graham Nortons Show, but didn´t remember his name back then
Hayden has a lot of backstory’s of him on set with the cast and crew. He received so much backlash for the prequel movies and really didn’t get another chance to shine. He should’ve been given more chances but he decided to back off and bought a ranch. Dude was a good person. Much love to him
Exactly what i thought, he seems so very down to earth
@@coreysmith2910 mate I like him a lot seems like a top guy, and he was a great character in the prequels I don’t care what anyone says. His dialogue with padme was terrible but it’s not like he wrote it.
I’m here after episode 5 of Ahsoka. It’s so awesome to see how much fan reception to Hayden has changed over the years. I think we can all acknowledge the faults of the prequels, but I will always love them, ESPECIALLY 3. Bottom line, Anakin is awesome and Ahsoka only reinforced that
I was unaware until about a year ago that anybody has a problem with him but I was also about 10 when revenge of the sith came out
Christensen looked amazing in episode 5
It was funny how much was said about him, in those Ahsoka scenes. Dont get me wrong, I never watched the cartoons, so my scope of their relationship is extremely limited. In addition to not really being the target "fanbase" for Star Wars.
However, showing him being both compassionate and hard on her... all of it. Showing both his affection for her, but also that he's willing to drive the lesson. Like damn, what an awesome mentor.
Even his movements, where he was blending both, what he used when he was young, but also retaining what he utilized as Darth Vader, blending between the two, seamlessly and dispatching someone like Ahsoka, without actually trying.
Both examples kind of showing that in death, it isnt whether he is Anakin of Darth Vader... that he's both. And maybe that's ok... seemingly having absorbed both of those identities into his being. Instead of exalting one and demonizing the other. Where so much was conveyed in those short scenes and Hayden pulled them off flawlessly.
Because everyone who hated him is an old geaser now 😂😂
Sorry but Phantom Menace will always be my favorite Star Wars cus it was the 1st one I saw and got me into Star Wars
I love how they feel like actual friends. Like these guys could be in any movie together and have the best best friend dynamic.

Yeaaah! My heart is melting
My favourite part is that immediately McGregor goes "Thomas! Yes, omg you remember that!? That's so cool/sweet, Hayden".
Hayden remembering the “lightsaber guy” , Thomas, is really sweet. Been such a long time it’s not often actors would even care to learn the names of people like that. Shows how sweet and thoughtful of others he really is.
If Thomas ever sees this video he’ll never forget it
That's Lord Vader for you
Ewan has been in far more films than Hayden. So obviously for Hayden the experience was more unique.
That struck me as well!
If you haven’t, check out Life as a House. Incredible movie!!!
I watched the prequels so much as a kid. It broke my heart how much they were hated by critics. It just does my inner child so much good seeing these films and actors get the recognition they deserve. I have so much respect for Ewan and Hayden and Natalie. They were amazing actors despite the rough dialogue and I’m so happy they have return with actually good material. Kenobi was perfect for me
Can we just note that Ewan McGregor is 52 years old and still looks 30? Not only visually, but also the way he moves and expresses himself is as dynamic as if he were in his mid-30s at the most. Fascinating
It is kind of fascinating. Good genes obviously, but also must take care of himself. I would guess that he either drinks/ smokes very little in his life or abstains from both completely

I cannot believe how toxic the fanbase was to Hayden. He is beyond phenomenonal and one of the best we ever had in the Star Wars Universe. Thankful for him and his awesome character he made for us in my childhood. Ewan too! Give him tons of credit.
Yeah he really knocked that out of the park in those two movies. The dialogue was clunky, but that's George, and it's to be expected. His emoting was really spectacular for capturing the turmoil of Anakin.
Star Wars fans are just toxic period in general. Like Boyega being bullied. I mean Cameron Monahan was bullied online because some toxic fans didn't like that a redhead became a Jedi.
Also the dialogue isn’t supposed to be similar to how we speak on earth, they’re aliens at the end of the day

@@snowi8650 you had me until the last line episode 3 is great but still below all of the OT
@@snowi8650 The times where Hayden wasn't saying anything or much were some of his best performances. His reaction to padme being pregnant, him waiting in the jedi counsel chambers, his silent indiscriminate killing of the separatists, him attempting to tell yoda his feeling and getting snubbed, his rivalry with windu, the entire mustafar fight. The times when he needed to express emotion, it shows that he has been holding it back and doesn't know how to control his feelings when they are finally too much to hold in
The fact Hayden came up with the name of the lightsaber guy from 20 years ago, calling it immediately without the conversation even needing that info in the first regard, but Hayden still took decision to say it! Even Ewan was surprised.
And then the fact how Hayden reacts when Ewan talks of the audience voice not being loud back then and barely adds anything to the convo and just lets Ewan keep speaking, not arguing with him, but also not agreeing. Jeez, you can feel it was not a happy time for him.
And then the last fact, but maybe the most important one, Hayden was the sole reason I got into Star Wars at all (which original trilogy failed to do). I just saw Anakin and Padme in that beautiful waterfall scene accidentally on TV and thought "whoa, that looks too beautiful to be missed". If not that love story shaped with the so romantical environment, I would have missed so much fun and epic of the Star Wars universe.
The prequels were appreciated by the younger generation but not because of what Lucas intended, the dialogue was badly written for an adult, but it resonated PERFECTLY with the generation of the 2000s.
Angstry teenager without a dad, had trauma, couln't communicate as well so his relationship was always dramatic like that. I saw Roger Erbert write in his review of Attack of the Clones that Lucas didn't know how to write romance, but I think inadvertedly Lucas wrote a very realistic early 2000s romance, it felt to me for example exactly what a grunge front man's love life would be like in private.
I don't think it was intended, but it resonated to me way more than the goodie two shoes luke did in the OT, and I watched both at the same time.
The problem with the sequels is that it is neither of those, it is plain and simple just a mary sue with no lines even if cringey that you can remember, felt like it was written by AI
Plus I think even with the bad cgi of episode 2, the intended result was still there and it felt badass, such as the clones marching with the imperial theme
That was episode 3. Episode 3 was good. Even us OG trilogy boys acknowledge episode 3 was good.@@theguy8412
But the dialogue being bad or cheesy is in line with what the originals had too. "But I was going to the Tosche station to pick up some power converters!" or:
Leia: Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?
Luke: Ah?! Oh the uniform. I'm Luke Skywalker and I'm here to rescue you.
C'mon. Star Wars was always cheesy and that's the charm of it.
@@Christian-rb8wk I fully agree, people meme on Jar Jar but we also had Ewoks which I actually find more intolerable. I'm of the oppinion that if the prequal trilogy and the OG trilogy released exactly as they are now but in reverse (so 1-3 in the 80's and 4-6 in the 90's - 00's) we would be looking at both trilogies very differently.

These two were my childhood idols. As much as there was criticism thrown at the prequels, me as the 10 year old boy that I was back then, didn't know any of it and was just glued to the screen the entirety of the movies. I remember watching them from my parents' old tube TV and while the quality wasn't anything compared to modern day television, I thought the prequels were the coolest shit ever, better than the originals even. Even to this day, I still love those movies, and while there are things that could have been done better in some instances, those flaws take none of my enjoyment away and I still consider them to be the thing that made me passionate about Star Wars.

Everyone in the early 2000's: The prequels suck
Everyone after release of Episode 9: Perhaps I treated you too harshly
Imagine what garbage Disney has planned when they can't lean on the actual Skywalker establishment.
LOL
The prequels were WAY worse than the sequels. I'm not even saying I like the sequels, but the prequels were terrible. Definitely not the fault of anyone at this table, though. Great to see them try the characters again with decent writing and directing. Ewan in particular was always so good.
I mean, they do suck. They're very uneven movies with shitty dialogue and pacing and the overuse of CGI hasn't aged well at all. But at least they tell a coherent story, there's a clear arc to follow through all three movies, which is something that cannot be said for the sequels; those are just all over the place.
@@Christopher-md7tf It's a somewhat coherent story. But can you imagine you didn't know Anakin was supposed to become Darth Vader, how absolutely out of the blue that would have been? His fall made 0 sense because of how poorly told it was. Going from being conflicted about killing a friend of his to murdering a bunch of children and then trying to kill his wife in the span of a couple minutes was beyond jarring. That's the key point of the trilogy's arc and it completely flubbed it. I can name countless other structural issues beyond that one, too.
At least the sequels had fun characters, relationships, and dialogue. I just found nothing about the prequels at all redeeming.

Hayden was never a bad actor......just the victim of a bad script and direction. Ewan was always fantastic, no matter what. Just a legend.
The prequels were my childhood, I will always love them. Forever grateful to these two for giving me my first experience of the magic that is Star Wars
ladies, gentlemen, we were blessed to the point of having Lord Vader himself, and the legendary Obi Wan Kenobi, general of the grand army of the republic, sit at a table, chilling and talking the in and outs of the force. what time to be alive.
I strongly agree
While talking about pineapple on pizza

I think Hayden Christensen would be great at being Wolverine in the next X-Men movies
Cringe comment.
1:28 - So I've seen Ewan tell this story a bunch of times, referring to the "guy with the cart." When Hayden finally filled in the gap of the guys name, you can see the genuine joy on Ewans face. It's like these two complete each other. Small , but very noticeable for me
Best part of the whole video
I came to the comments hoping to find this one 🙏
The way his eyes light up 😭
The thing that astounds me is that it's been nearly 20 years and Hayden still, without missing a beat, immediately remembers "the guy with the cart"'s name. That man is a goddamn gem.
And it's lovely that Hayden remembered the crewmember's name.
Its great so see them back togehter. Gives me a lot of nice memories of my childhood. My best friend and me played Star Wars with sticks or on Playstation and because he was the Anakin fan and I prefered Obi Wan we never struggled to choose characters. What an iconic duo!
Just makes me smile and make me feel good seeing Ewan and Hayden have a good relationship outside of acting
1:26 there is something beautiful about Ewan's bright eyes and smile while he says "Thomas, thats right."
it just lets you know how fondly he remembers those days.
I noticed that too. Like he was so shocked that Haden remembered
💯 love it, so genuine
These two are genuinely good people and it shows. I've never heard a negative story about them.
Hayden's voice certainly lowered, He sounds like Darth Vader these days!

Absolutely love them. I was seven years old when Revenge of the Sith came out. So I loved it right from the start and it's what made me fall in love with the Star Wars universe.
Im so happy to see Hayden Christensen interact in the Star Wars Verse again. His charisma was deeply missed. This interview is gold.
Hayden Christiansen is legitimately one of the most underrated movie actors ever. He doesn’t get enough credit for making the hectic character of Anakin actually feel real throughout episodes two and three. Just imagine playing a character, but the character doesn’t know who he is…. How are you supposed to emotionally represent that on film? He nailed it.
Delusional lmfao
@@Thurnishaley6969 he grew up being thought to suppress emotions

@@LOL-ro9ef y’all are ate up for caring. I didn’t say he’s the greatest actor ever in all of cinema. I said he’s underrated for the films he’s been in, which is like five films total 😂 He’s not the best but he definitely did a more memorable job in Star Wars than some others while playing a tough character.
it reminds me of everybody who criticized Captain Marvel because they said Brie Larsen didn't know who carol danvers was - COMPLETELY IGNORING that CAROL DANVERS didn't know who carol danvers was.
It's not just about remembering Thomas' name, he also remembered perfectly his first bike ride with Ewan. The smile he has on his face while remembering those days says it all. He was the luckiest Star Wars fan living the dream, playing THE role in the saga. If he remains so humble now you can only imagine how kind and wholesome he must have been as a young man on those sets.
Makes me feel sad for all the hate he got. At least now the fans are giving him the love he has always deserved.
I feel like after the sequel trilogy came out, people realized how good the prequels actually were.
@@yeemyreamy5895 it's crazy because as a kid I literally only liked the prequels... I didn't like 4 5 or 6 really till I reached like 20 years old. The prequels are still my fav
@@yeemyreamy5895 I think they would have been better if they handled Padme and Anakin better. When they first met, Padme was almost like a babysitter to Anakin and she was also a queen. It just seemed a little weird that she would fall in love with a man that she knew when he was a child. They should have hired actors that were only 5 years apart like they were supposed to be according to the lore, but the age gap between the two actors made it seem like a much larger and much more questionable age difference.
But even if they got the age thing correct there was still the poorly written script. The love scenes were so damn cringe worthy it was almost unbearable.

This was the most wholesome interview I've ever seen
Hello there
Yes
Wholesome?
Half way through I realized I had a major dorky smile plastered across my face hahah could not love this interview more!
Eh idk what "wholesome" means (wholesomao?), but it was definitely a slight bit hackfraudy - Ewan has criticized/badmouthed the first 2 episodes at the time and every now and then, and now he's saying all these positive things and "the target audience liked it, critics put out a hit on it but now the fans caught up, they were meant to be different" etc. etc. because he's in promotion mode, for the new thing that's coming out;
or just creative enthusiasm, also possible;
a more clear-minded, self-reflective "here'S why I disliked them at these and those points, but here's the other side of my brain", or whatever, would've been more interesting, but this way it's just kinda feelgood fluff and not much more imo.

Hayden remembering the name Thomas is honestly so incredibly wholesome. He truly cares about the people he works with and remembers them. He deserves all the love he's getting and deserved none of the hate he received.
That's reading a bit too much into it I think lol
It's been 17 years since Revenge of the Sith, it took him no time at all to remember his name, at the very least it is incredibly wholesome.

@@raymond9673 Well, he clearly remembered him. Which means he either cares, or he memorised names of people before the interview to look like he cared. I find the latter unlikely, leaving the option that he cares the most likely one.
This makes me so happy seeing Hayden still passionate about Star Wars despite the backlash he received back in the day. Glad they are both back!!
Yeah well, back then no one could’ve seen the abomination that is Disney Star Wars.

The chemistry between them is just lovely. 2 awesome actors and human beings, specially Hayden for remembering Thomas from the days of the prequels.
Such a wholesome video and such an iconic duo. I just loved that they shared a lot of the same opinions about the questions that were provided. Not only that, but they remember the name of the crew man in charge of their lightsabers on the set of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of The Sith 21 years years ago. These actors helped shape the universe that is Star Wars with the prequels and I am Happy they are back for more Star Wars content like the Obi-Wan show.
I could not stop smiling during this whole interview. It’s clear that they are genuinely and utterly happy to be bringing this new chapter of Star Wars to life
I believe so too, Hayden was crapped on for awhile for his roll, but imo he did amazing with the script and directorial direction he was given
Good actors received crapola scripts and direction.
Lol they’re actors for christ’s sake 😅

@@docsavage8640 Funny how that applies not only to the prequels (can't ignore the problems that they had in dialogue and overuse of cgi) but to Kenobi as well. Just sad that Kenobi also lacks the scale and grandeur that you expect from Star Wars, has terrible music and the story makes no sense.
While many moaned about boring politics in the prequels, at least that story in itself made some sense.
And that let's face it, Kenobi is mainly the selling point for the audience and not the driving force or focus of the story as much as he should be.
Was smiling and enjoying this video and the enthusiams and joy that you could feel. If only that was still a factor in making Star Wars content. But apparently Disney can't afford good writers for their shows or movies, since most of it is pretty bad.
And what makes it worse if you see glimpses of potential and what could be compelling stories/projects that they just wasted.
But I'm criticizing Star Wars/Disney content so obviously I must be racist and/or sexist. We're almost at that point right. Since criticizing a female or person of colors character in any manner is now considered to be racist/sexist even when you simply think that a character is badly written. Can't be too much longer until you're not allowed to criticize Disney content at all, without being mislabeled.
The fact that Hayden literally remembered the name of the guy who pushed the lightsaber cart...this guy is in LOVE with this franchise. Please keep him around. Please this man is an absolute treasure.

I'm really happy that George Lucas, Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor and the prequels have been "rehabilitated" in the last decade as an entire generation came of age and was able to reevaluate them and have a voice online. Its so sad how much hate Hayden got for the prequels (largely because of poor dialogue writing). Especially seeing how genuine a guy he is from these recent promo vids. Remembering film crew names after 18 years is a classy move. Leaving Hollywood after playing a dream role speaks to how tough it must've been. All respect to this guy, I hope he makes a come back and gets the appreciation he deserves. May the force be with you
