@@HarvsWorld I actually do have a question. I started a new game on the Illinois map and my field says that I need to remove Tops and is colored red. It also says Fallows for the soil. I have no idea what fallows is or how to remove tops. Thank you Harv!
Disregard. On Walkthrough #2 you explained that it was sugar beets or potatoes. Weird that my starting field would have those considering I don’t have the equipment to harvest them.
@@ryanharte5400 Well, what I do in that case is just plow them under. Plowing a crop under gives you at least one application of fertilizer (usually).
I am 60 and start to play and this walk through help me a lot. I love now to play farming simulator and play nothing else. Even the mods helps me a lot. Thankyou😅

I started doing circles on all my fields just to change things up from the norm. Helps break the monotony that can occur in this game at times.

I know I'm late to the party, but when you were cutting down the tree, you had enough money to paint the terrain and get rid of those bushes to make it easier to see what you were doing.

I was thinking about your offer to explain all the equipment and tools on the menu (if you haven't already done so...) it would be a big help to people that have no backround in modern commercial farming to know what each piece of hardware is used for.

great video.....I just bought FS 17 on sale a few days ago....just using mouse and keyboard....I would guess you have the controller wheel? you drive so smooth LOL. thinking maybe there is a single hand controller out there, not the $$ cockpit set I see (nor want)...nice tips thou

Thanks, Randy! Yes, it’s a mod. I also have a tutorial about using GPS, that might help you out.
I will check it out. For the small fields and learning the basics I think it is better to drive like you are in these first 2 vids. But for the future obviously GPS is helpful and I didn't see any GPS in modhub when I did a search so was curious.
@@Pep8691 It's called "Guidance Steering" by a modder named Wopster. GPS is especially helpful on larger fields and with larger equipment, but it will work fine anywhere.

I have noticed one thing though.. moisture content not a factor in crops when harvesting /selling?
No, the game doesn't take moisture content into account for harvesting or selling. If you start playing with the Seasons mod, that changes things. You can't harvest if the crop moisture is too high with that mod. There are maps with grain dryers built in, which generally adds a "new crop type" to the game, and most likely sells for a bit more, but I've never had the opportunity to play one. you can put the subsoiler the other way round and it goes so much faster but still does the same job
You can... but I figured that new players need to learn to play the game before they start utilizing "cheats." But as I always say, "it's your game, play it YOUR way."
I ran into an issue with the milling machine. For whatever reason, it wouldn’t pick up the straw. It was unfolded and lowered and on, but wouldn’t pick up the straw.
I noticed I was very low on fuel in my tractor? Also it was late at night?
Time of day, and fuel wouldn’t matter. Did you put the pipe out? “O” on PC. Do you have a trailer behind your tractor? Did the milling machine pick up something before the straw? Did you start with an empty trailer? Several reasons this could be.
@@HarvsWorld now that I think about it, I had milling machine hooked up when I emptied my lime out of my trailer.
I’ll try again later to fix.

I have been following your videos to a T and they are SO helpful as someone who knows nothing about this game! I have a question though, when I am using the Miller to pick up the straw after harvesting the wheat, my straw never goes away on the field, even though I filled up the trailer and unloaded it into my silos. I saved my game, exited and reopened and it’s still on the field. I noticed yours was disappearing from your field as you went. Any ideas/suggestions? Thank you!!
Scratch that! Figured out my milling machine wasn’t lowered, which I didn’t realize because it was still picking straw up! 🙃

I never understood leasing equipment. I figured 5 grand was a small price to pay as it would always be there. I thought leasing costs, like this $255, was for each 24 hour period, being renewed each new period of time. But $255 is for the first 24 hours, each new day is $50, plus and additional cost of $50 for each hour used? When you returned the milling machine didn't you lose money in just collecting a little bit of straw? I mean, the straw you got hopefully will cover the cost of the lease plus leave you some extra.
I don't disagree with you. But, there are good reasons to lease instead of buy. Why spend the extra money if I'm only going to use something once? If I buy it, find out I'm never going to use it again, and then sell it, I've just sacrificed as much as 50% of the purchase price. With that said, keep in mind that this series is for total beginners. I tried to include as many options as I could, to show them directly what is available in the game. If you watch the episodes on contracts, I include a transport contract. Would I realistically ever done one? No. Would I recommend that anyone else do one? No. But they need to know what they are, and what is available. Thanks for such insightful input. I appreciate it!

Unfortunately, consoles don’t have the ability to install 3rd party mods. The only way to get a name brand anything on consoles is for Giants to have a contract with that company.

Sure. If you don’t need it. You can also turn off the straw swathing function of the harvester, so it doesn’t make straw.
The plow I got is the same name, but it’s different and doesn’t have the option to make new fields. Help? Console user (ps)0
Odd. It's the Lizard Subsoiler 6m? And even though it says subsoiler, you bought it from the plows menu? There shouldn't be any difference between the PC version and the PS version.
So if I create my own field will my workers be able to work on the field which I did create
Yes, they will.
Why does the farm hands leave the fields not fully complete with the job you give them?
Unfortunately, that's one of the downsides of FS19. The AI isn't particularly good.

What to do if i cant find the milling machine mod is there any other way to do it?
First, make sure you're searching ALL mods, and not just TOP mods. And, yes there are plenty of ways to do it, but they tend to be more expensive. Forage wagons will also collect straw from the ground.
YOU GOT OVER $6,000 FOR YOUR WOOD!!! I ONLY GOT $4,400!!! :( Oh well!!! Money is money. The first thing I did when I got back was figure out how much I can get if I cut all my trees. :)
Lol. A number of factors might have caused that. Size of the piece can change the price.
